Zhang Jingjiu

Zhang Jingjiu is a Li Wan City survivor who becomes one of the House of Horrors' most trusted living employees and ultimately takes charge of its Xin Hai branch.

Biography

Learning the House's work

After escaping Li Wan City, Zhang Jingjiu joins Chen Ge's staff out of gratitude and a desire to become useful. He studies acting guides on his phone, performs in Night of the Living Dead, and learns to read visitors' fear as a form of emotional release rather than simple suffering. His earnest, sometimes literal observations gradually turn a traumatized survivor with real-estate and sales experience into a capable attraction employee. (Chapters 678–709)

Zhang also begins repairing his life outside the park. He travels to Xin Hai when his father is hospitalized and admits that decades of conflict cannot be erased at once, but their conversation becomes a first step toward reconciliation. Chen supports the visit and continues treating him as both employee and family, strengthening the loyalty that later survives far harsher tests. (Chapters 726–727, 755)

Operations and the Xin Hai branch

Zhang applies his business sense to publicity and daily operations. Under the account “Wine for Moonlight,” he helps push Liu Gang into publicly accepting Chen's challenge, records the resulting livestream, and supplies the clips used to expose the rival campaign. When the House expands to Xin Hai, Chen selects Zhang to manage personnel and operations while Qu Changlin handles sets and mechanisms. (Chapters 907–940, 1141–1158)

Loyalty inside the false city

The cursed hospital's false city recasts Zhang as a psychiatric patient, but he still recognizes danger around Chen and attempts to warn his boss. Hospital staff punish him, break his limbs, and discard him when he is no longer useful. Zuo Han rescues him, and the Ping An Apartment tenants splint his injuries; even unconscious, his condition exposes the hospital's cruelty and helps unify resistance. (Chapters 1163–1189)

After the false world collapses, Zhang chooses to retain his memories. Chen entrusts him with organizing the rescued living people and formally names him owner of the Xin Hai branch, recognizing both his operational growth and the loyalty he maintained under torture. Zhang returns to Xin Hai with spectral employees assigned to support the business. (Chapter 1210)

Appearance and personality

Zhang Jingjiu is a living young man who is earnest, grateful, studious, and initially inexperienced as a performer. He can draw overly literal conclusions from visitors' reactions, but he learns quickly and has strong instincts for management, negotiation, and online messaging. His defining trait is loyalty: even with altered memories and death close at hand, he tries to warn Chen. (Chapters 678–700, 914–940, 1163–1174)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Zhang has experience in real estate and liquor sales, studies haunted-house acting, observes visitor behavior, records and edits publicity material, and handles business operations and interpersonal relationships. He has no supernatural power; his value to the House comes from practical judgment, courage, and his ability to manage living staff and public-facing work. (Chapters 678–704, 914–940, 1141)

Relationships

Chen Ge is Zhang's employer, rescuer, and mentor, eventually trusting him with an entire branch. Zuo Han risks himself to remove Zhang from the hospital's control, while Ol' Zhou and the Ping An tenants treat his injuries. Qu Changlin becomes his principal creative partner in Xin Hai. Items

Zhang's phone is his principal work tool: he uses it to study acting, conduct covert online messaging as “Wine for Moonlight,” record Liu Gang's livestream, and send edited clips to Chen. No supernatural item is permanently assigned to him. (Chapters 696–700, 914, 940)
