Xu Wan — My House of Horrors

Xu Wan is the House of Horrors’ longest-serving human actress. When other temporary workers leave and the attraction approaches closure, she stays beside Chen Ge and helps keep it open. Her make-up, timing, physical confidence, and willingness to manage visitors make her a stable human presence even as the scenarios and staff around her become increasingly supernatural.

Biography

The last actress at a dying attraction

Xu Wan begins as a temporary zombie-nurse performer and the person forced to hand Chen Ge two coworkers’ resignation letters. Instead of joining them, she stays when the House of Horrors has almost no visitors and only two people available to run it. Her enthusiasm when a crowd finally arrives helps turn the attraction’s precarious reopening into shared work rather than Chen’s solitary gamble. (Chapters 1–6)

She trusts Chen enough to accept his unsettling Mortician’s Make-up and performs through disturbances she does not understand. In Minghun, her timing interrupts the mirror monster’s approach to He San, and she follows Chen’s sudden safety instructions without demanding an explanation. Xu Wan is frightened by genuine anomalies, but she continues handling visitors, clearing props, and keeping the ordinary side of the attraction functional. (Chapters 6–14)

Doctor Skull-Cracker and senior employee

As the attraction expands, Xu Wan takes on the Doctor Skull-Cracker uniform and works the larger Murder by Midnight scenario. The costume initially disgusts and frightens her, yet drama-school training, repeated performances, and radio coordination let her use its mask and pursuit role effectively. She also helps retrieve overwhelmed visitors and watches camera blind spots, balancing convincing scares with the safety responsibilities of a live performer. (Chapters 26–40, 45–50)

Chen’s increasingly frequent absences make Xu Wan an operational anchor. She helps Uncle Xu manage queues, covers daily performance work, adapts to new scenarios, and works beside Gu Feiyu as the human staff grows. By the time supernatural employees occupy much of the underground attraction, she is still the experienced actress who can mentor newcomers and preserve a credible public business above them. Expansion, false hospital, and return

Xu Wan remains with the House of Horrors through New Century Park’s growth and the conflict with Nightmare Academy. Her role is less visible during Chen’s distant investigations, but she continues performing and assisting the attraction whenever he returns. That consistency makes her part of the ordinary life he is trying to protect: a trusted employee who accepts his alarming decisions without being drawn into the Specter hierarchy. Inside the Cursed Hospital’s false Xin Hai, Xu Wan is recast as a hospital attendant who brings Chen meals, medicine, and gentle conversation. Even within the manufactured history, she remains patient and warm, becomes the person who most often accompanies him, and quietly gives him her contact information when he is released. Her familiar care survives after the world has stripped away the workplace and memories that originally shaped it. (Chapters 1160–1182)

After the false world collapses, Xu Wan resumes her real position at New Century Park. When Chen’s missing parents appear unconscious in the staff breakroom, she immediately contacts Director Luo and helps arrange their hospital care before Chen can return. The response confirms her final role: not merely an actress in costume, but a dependable senior employee trusted with the House of Horrors and the people inside it. (Chapter 1210)

Appearance and personality

Xu Wan is a slender young woman first seen in zombie-nurse make-up and a bloodstained costume. Chen’s Mortician’s Make-up can make her living face resemble a corpse closely enough to disturb visitors even outside a scare. Her later Doctor Skull-Cracker role adds a blood-soaked coat and faux-human-skin mask, while her ordinary appearance remains that of an approachable human employee. (Chapters 1, 6–11, 29–35)

She is loyal, direct, practical, and physically confident. Xu Wan punches visitors who harass her, grows excited when the attraction succeeds, and questions Chen when his plans sound unsafe without abandoning the job. She is also gentle with frightened guests and, in the false hospital, with Chen as a patient. Haunted-house acting

Xu Wan uses make-up, costume, concealment, timing, movement, and pursuit to create scares. She can shift between a quiet zombie nurse, a ghost bride, and Doctor Skull-Cracker, coordinating by earpiece while visitors move through branching rooms. Her drama-school background helps her accept unfamiliar roles, and experience teaches her when to improvise, withdraw, or help a visitor who is no longer responding normally. Her best performances depend on preparation rather than supernatural power. Chen supplies specialized make-up and scenario design, cameras and radios provide coordination, and worker passages let her reach visitors safely. Blind spots, dangerous props, panicked guests, and actual ghosts can still place her at risk. Visitor care and attraction operations

Xu Wan can manage queues, explain delays, monitor rooms, clear props, carry exhausted visitors, and keep the attraction operating when Chen is unavailable. These duties require judgment because the House of Horrors’ public safety rules coexist with hazards she does not fully know. Over time she also becomes a senior coworker to Gu Feiyu and a dependable partner for Uncle Xu. The skill is organizational rather than mystical: familiarity with routes, visitors, costumes, and Chen’s habits lets her stabilize an attraction that changes faster than its living staff can expand.
