Single Eye

Single Eye is the one-eyed identity under which Chang Wenyu appears while trapped in the hospital's false Xin Hai, before her memories and full allegiance return.

Biography

Contract at Xin Hai Private Academy

Single Eye hides in an abandoned school as one of false Xin Hai's three most terrifying Specters. Cruel and transactional, she demands lives or body parts in exchange for entering the hospital, and she tries to take payment when Zuo Han and Chen Ge approach her. The name Zhang Ya interrupts that threat, suggesting a buried fear or memory that Single Eye cannot yet articulate. She later joins the assault on the hospital, tears through doctors and patients with increasingly uncontrolled violence, and helps form the Top Red Specters' barrier. The restored name “Single Eye Chang Wenyu” confirms that this is Chang Wenyu under suppressed memory, not a separate lasting person. (Chapters 1188–1197)

Appearance and personality

Single Eye appears as a young woman in a school uniform with one functioning eye and wounded, pale arms. She laughs savagely and treats bargains as predatory exchanges, yet she does respond to agreed terms and to the emotional traces carried by Chen Ge and Zhang Ya. Her bloodlust intensifies once the hospital battle begins. (Chapters 1188–1197)

Skills and supernatural abilities

She is explicitly identified as a Top Red Specter by the final hospital battle. From within mirrors she writes contracts in blood, exerts force over bodies at a distance, and can drag a target toward the glass. In combat, her blood vessels impale enemies while her empty eye absorbs their souls and resentment, making her presence more frightening; this feeding also pushes her toward loss of control and a wound-for-wound fighting style.
