Dark Enigmatic Sword

Description

The Dark Enigmatic Sword is White Jade Castle's first assembled weapon, forged from seven Gray-Silver blade pieces and a Yellow-Gold hilt. The completed Level 60 Yellow-Gold sword is valued less for its ordinary single-target statistics than for a repeat-attack effect whose proc chance scales with the number of targets struck by the preceding attack. History and custody

Assembly in the Spider Palace

Zhang Yang first obtains a Gray-Silver blade piece while clearing the Spider Palace and explains that seven pieces plus one hilt must be taken to a Smithing Shop. The final boss drops a Yellow-Gold hilt and the remaining pieces on the first clear, allowing him to choose the stronger assembled result rather than use a Gray-Silver hilt. A grandmaster smith charges 10,000 gold and forges the components into the server's first announced assembled weapon. (Chapters 272 and 274)

After identification and socketing, Zhang equips the sword despite losing the passive bonuses of Axe Mastery. Its Level 60 attack and copied-area effect more than compensate for his previous Level 50 axe, and his first test against a large group produces four successive repetitions from one Horizontal Sweep. It becomes his regular crowd-clearing weapon and also serves in tournament and ordinary single-target combat when its base statistics remain competitive. (Chapters 274, 276, 287, and 302)

Crowd weapon and sacrifice

The sword is most effective when Zhang can collect dense monster groups. Blast Wave or Horizontal Sweep supplies one trigger roll per target, causing repeated full-area attacks that clear swarms in seconds; with only a few targets, it behaves much more like an ordinary Level 60 Yellow-Gold weapon. As Zhang's level and equipment rise, that low base tier becomes a serious single-target weakness even while the special effect remains exceptional. (Chapters 287, 291, 303, 327, and 346)

When Zhang obtains the first-seal Sword of Purging Devourer, he selects the Dark Enigmatic Sword as its effect source. The system identifies the 2% repeat property and warns that the selected weapon will be destroyed. Zhang confirms, the Dark Enigmatic Sword crumbles into aged fragments, and its defining mechanic continues only as an absorbed effect on the newer sword. (Chapters 380 and 386)

Abilities and mechanics

After identification, the sword has 975–1,175 attack, a 2.8-second interval, 384 DPS, two Level 2 sockets, and a 2% chance to repeat the preceding attack. Zhang also applies Vampiric +2 runes. The copied attack matches the prior attack rather than becoming a fixed weapon strike, so a proc after Horizontal Sweep or Blast Wave repeats the entire area skill and can itself generate further trigger checks under the original rules. Target count is its main multiplier and its main limitation. A single-target fight offers only one proc opportunity per attack, while a strike against twenty enemies offers roughly twenty checks and can begin a chain. The sword does not raise Zhang's Defense, and the tactic of gathering very large groups works because his Guardian build can withstand the incoming attacks. Once the wielder's level substantially exceeds the Level 60 weapon, its attack becomes underpowered even though the special effect remains useful. (Chapters 291, 303, 327, 346, and 568)

The effect survives the item's destruction only because the Sword of Purging Devourer explicitly consumes weapon properties. That transfer does not preserve the Dark Enigmatic Sword as a separate object: the source is destroyed, the repeat effect appears on the bound successor, and later references to the old sword's power describe that inherited mechanic rather than continued custody of the original weapon. • Zhang Yang: He gathers the components, pays for assembly and identification, uses the sword as his signature crowd weapon, and finally authorizes its destruction to strengthen the Sword of Purging Devourer. (Chapters 272–274, 327, and 380)
