Skeletal War Horse
The Skeletal War Horse is Zhang Yang's rare living undead mount. Acquired from Shurian through the Leash of the Skeletal War Horse and first summoned when Zhang reaches Level 30, it becomes his signature early ground companion, carrying him through travel, reputation work, PvP approaches, and regional defense. (Chapters 77, 97, 109, 136–141, and 185–197)
Biography
Lone Desert Smoke and Soaring Swords
The Skeletal War Horse enters Zhang's party through Shurian's first-clear loot. The summoning leash has a Level 30 requirement and an exceptionally low stated drop rate, so Zhang orders everyone to roll rather than claim special priority; his perfect roll of 100 wins the bond. When he reaches Level 30 and summons the horse in White Jade Castle, its huge bleached skeleton, flaming hooves, and emerald eye-fire draw a crowd that initially mistakes it for a monster. (Chapters 77 and 97)
The horse quickly becomes more than a display mount. Under Zhang's command it accelerates until rider and mount appear as a blur, lets him cross forests and hills while ordinary monsters lose aggro behind him, and shortens the repeated trips required for centaur reputation quests and widely scattered hunting targets. Its speed also gives Zhang tactical initiative: Floating Fire Ball hears its hooves only when Zhang has already closed to within ten meters. (Chapters 109, 136–140)
During larger operations, the Skeletal War Horse carries Zhang between positions in the fourth monster wave, follows Sir Frodoc's formation, and responds to its rider's reins in the snow. Zhang continues summoning it for overland travel through Chapter 215, when he rides to his class instructor and later departs Tukula Fortress. The later spectral riders and flaming skeletal mounts described in Chapters 251 and 295–296 are not identified as Zhang's companion; the supplied corpus records no death for this individual, but it also gives no confirmed appearance after Chapter 215. (Chapters 185, 193, 197, 215, 251, and 295–296)
Appearance and personality
The horse is a large mount formed from bleached-white bones, with emerald flames burning in empty eye sockets and fire streaming from all four hooves. It is visually imposing enough to be mistaken for a hostile monster and glamorous enough that Wei Yan Er repeatedly envies it. The full-body flames described on an unnamed skeletal mount in Chapter 296 should not replace the more specific appearance given for Zhang's horse. (Chapters 97, 109, 184, and 296)
It behaves as a responsive war animal rather than an inert vehicle. The horse snorts, neighs, bellows, rears, roars, gallops on command, and pulls up when Zhang handles the reins. No speech or independent goals are attributed to it, so its supported personality is spirited and obedient, expressed through animal reactions and cooperation with its rider. (Chapters 97, 109, 136, and 197)
Abilities and gameplay
The Skeletal War Horse's defining ability is ground mobility. It increases Zhang's movement speed by 300%, allowing him to cross large maps efficiently, outrun monsters that acquire aggro, sweep hills and forests for scattered quest targets, and close rapidly on players. The speed has strategic value but does not itself damage enemies or replace Zhang's combat skills once he reaches a target. (Chapters 109, 136–140)
Summoning and riding
The Leash of the Skeletal War Horse teaches Zhang to summon the living undead mount after Level 30. He can call it in cities and outdoor regions, mount or dismount normally, and dismiss it back into the game's mount storage before walking into interactions or restricted spaces. The corpus supplies no health, defense, attack, transformation, or leveling profile for this horse, and never shows it fighting separately from its rider. (Chapters 77, 97, 109, and 215)
The horse is a ground mount, so Zhang sometimes transfers from a gryphon to it after landing rather than using it for flight. Its practical limits are therefore terrain and the need to remain mounted: when Zhang dismisses it, the speed advantage ends. Flying mounts later become more desirable in the game's progression, but the narrative does not state that Zhang sells, abandons, or destroys this companion. (Chapters 77, 109, and 136)
Tactical mobility
Its speed helps Zhang control when encounters begin. He can let higher-level monsters chase until they leave aggro range, cover enough territory to collect hundreds of distributed quest materials, and approach another player before that player has much time to react. During a large monster assault, the horse also lets him issue orders while repositioning between defensive locations. These are mobility applications rather than mounted attacks; all documented combat remains Zhang's responsibility. (Chapters 136–140, 185, and 193)

Relationships
- Zhang Yang: The horse's rider and combat partner. Zhang wins its summoning bond fairly, directs its pace and route, and relies on it for repeated travel and rapid battlefield repositioning. (Chapters 77, 97, 109, 136–141, and 185–215)
- Wei Yan Er: A teammate who calls it a “precious horsie” and remains openly envious of Zhang's rare mount. Her reaction underlines both its scarcity and its status value within the early party. (Chapters 97, 154, and 184)
- Fatty Han: Another teammate who envies the mount, touches it when it first appears, and asks Zhang to carry him around the capital after Level 30. (Chapters 77 and 97)
Items
- Leash of the Skeletal War Horse: The rare, bind-on-use mount reward dropped by Shurian. It requires Level 30 and teaches Zhang how to summon the horse; the leash is the access mechanism for a living companion rather than the horse itself. (Chapter 77)
