Angus
Angus, the Lord of the Seven Spectre King, is a Celestial-tier Spectre sovereign who leads the Darkness Falls invasion. His army captures the high-tier territories and his Death Feeds mechanic turns weak attackers into healing, forcing players, regional NPC rulers, and Merlinda to build an unusually selective coalition around Serena before he can be permanently killed. (Chapters 724, 731–755)
Biography
Demonic Invasions and the Final Championship
Angus was once a kind and brave human warrior whose achievements made his king suspicious. Framed and exiled to orc territory, he dies after cutting through their forces, then rises as a Spectre through unresolved vengeance and quickly becomes lord over the Seven Spectre Kings. In the present event, servants invoke his plan while Darkness Falls prepares a route from the four high-tier territories through the gateways and into every regional capital. His stated objective is not conquest alone but the eradication of living races and the establishment of Spectre rule. (Chapters 731, 740, and 743–746)
When Angus first enters the battlefield, he condemns his own army as useless and challenges Serena as the leading defender. Her holy attacks can injure him, but the arrival of underleveled players reverses her progress: every death to Angus restores one percent of his enormous health, and Blade of Obliteration kills crowds across a five-hundred-meter radius. He reduces the counterattack to a losing war, forces the exhausted Serena to retreat through a spatial portal, and leaves the system to strengthen the regional NPC force for a later attempt. The failure demonstrates that numbers are actively harmful unless the attackers can survive him. (Chapters 724, 746–748)
Zhang Yang consequently organizes the next counterattack around endurance rather than a mass rush. He recruits Merlinda, hires ninety-two elite soldiers to redistribute incoming damage, and keeps underprepared party members away while Serena, the seven barons, and Moon Elf healers engage. Merlinda's Higher Regeneration lets the main combatants recover between Angus's two-second area strikes. When Liu Wei tries to reach the weakened boss as potential healing fodder, Serena kills the player first, preventing Angus from consuming that life and preserving many hours of progress. (Chapters 748, 750–754)
Angus remains defiant as the battle extends beyond twenty hours, offering to resurrect Serena as a Spectre and insisting that he is a god even after his health falls below twenty percent. His attacks retain full force, but the aggro system and disciplined defensive line prevent new deaths from feeding him. Serena finally severs his head, his spectral body disperses into a void, and participants gain two levels while Zhang Yang's group secures a reduced but still enormous Celestial-tier haul. The game identifies unique Celestial bosses as permanently dead; another Spectre may inherit Angus's office, but Angus himself will not respawn. (Chapters 754–756)
Appearance and personality
Angus enters through a black portal as a large figure floating in midair. Abyssal darkness pours from his body and forms a light-swallowing void around him, visually darker than the event's supernatural night. The corpus does not specify a stable face, hair, eyes, clothing, or surviving human likeness beneath that field. (Chapter 746)
He is imperious, contemptuous, and animated by vengeance against the living. Angus regards soldiers as disposable, invites enemies to surrender to darkness, takes satisfaction in consuming the life of players he kills, and tries to recast Serena's ambition as something the Spectres could fulfill after her death. His confidence persists verbally to the end, but narration observes him defending frantically once defeat becomes inevitable. (Chapters 743 and 746–754)
Abilities and gameplay
Angus is a unique Level 230 Celestial-tier Spectre with 23 billion health, 100,000 physical and magical defense, and 633,914–833,914 melee attack. The event temporarily reveals these otherwise overleveled statistics. Player level suppression further reduces damage dealt to him and magnifies his attacks against underleveled targets, making the displayed numbers only the starting point of the encounter's imbalance. (Chapters 744 and 746–747)
Blade of Obliteration and Chaos damage
Blade of Obliteration deals one hundred percent melee Chaos damage to every target within five hundred meters. Angus uses it about once every two seconds, releasing thousands of spectral swords across the field. Chaos damage ignores defense, armor, ordinary absorption, and magical resistance in the demonstrated battle, although percentage damage reduction and Zhang Yang's soldier-based damage sharing still lower the final amount received. The huge radius makes ordinary retreat slow and allows a single careless crowd to heal Angus back to full. (Chapters 746–747 and 752)
Death Cleave deals one hundred fifty percent melee Chaos damage to one target and can neither be evaded nor blocked. Angus's basic attack averages around 730,000 before level suppression, so both the single-target strike and the area cycle can kill even transformed players quickly. His attacks do not lose power at low health, but Blade of Obliteration's established two-second cadence also does not accelerate further in the final phase. (Chapters 746–747 and 754)
Death Feeds and encounter scaling
Death Feeds restores one percent of Angus's maximum health for every target he kills, or 230 million health at the inspected maximum, and no recovery-reduction effect can weaken it. Mass participation therefore strengthens him whenever fragile players enter range. The event eventually blocks killed players from rejoining after the lesser Spectres are cleared, while Serena's soldiers form a line to stop outsiders from offering Angus new healing targets. This interaction—not a lack of damage alone—is the principal reason early regional counterattacks fail. (Chapters 746–748 and 751–754)
The system gradually strengthens the NPC counterattack after each failure and gives a region three days to complete its attempt. Zhang Yang's changed history supplies a much stronger Serena than the previous timeline, but even she needs Merlinda's capped percentage healing, seven barons, elite-soldier damage sharing, and a controlled field to overcome Death Feeds. Angus is thus strongest against a large disorganized army and most vulnerable to a small body of level-appropriate elites who deny him kills. (Chapters 724, 747–748, and 752–754)
Despair Aura and battlefield control
Despair Aura creates a Cage of Despair around a target every three seconds and immobilizes targets within a two-hundred-meter aura. Together with the five-hundred-meter attack radius, it limits the ability of underprepared opponents to enter, withdraw, and heal safely. The corpus gives the inspection text but does not isolate a separate duration, dispel rule, or successful player counter for each cage, so those mechanics remain unspecified. (Chapter 746)
Angus still follows the game's aggression system rather than freely selecting any vulnerable player on the map. Once Zhang Yang and the NPC leaders hold his attention and the defensive line keeps weak targets out, his recovery stops and the fight becomes a long damage-and-healing contest. Holy attacks from Serena are especially effective against his Spectre nature, while Merlinda's healing affects the allies rather than weakening Angus directly. (Chapters 747 and 752–754)
Relationships
- Serena: Angus's principal NPC opponent and eventual slayer. He defeats her first counterattack and offers to turn her into a Spectre, but her holy power, leadership, and final decapitation permanently end him. (Chapters 747 and 752–754)
- Zhang Yang: The player strategist who learns from the first failure, recruits Merlinda, hires elite soldiers, and tanks Angus for the decisive battle. His preparation prevents Death Feeds from undoing the coalition's damage. (Chapters 747–754)
- Merlinda: The Moon Priestess recruited specifically to sustain Angus's opponents. Higher Regeneration keeps Zhang Yang, Serena, and the barons alive across the prolonged area-damage cycle. (Chapters 750–754)
- Liu Wei: A would-be saboteur who approaches with little health so that Angus can kill him and recover. Serena reaches Liu Wei first, denying Angus the heal. (Chapter 754)
Items
- Book of Revelation, second chapter: One of the major rewards dropped after Angus's permanent death and collected in Zhang Yang's haul. (Chapter 755)
- Reaper's Descent: One of the Forbidden Scrolls associated with Angus's drop. Zhang Yang later identifies it as Angus's scroll and spends it during a large-scale demonic battle. (Chapters 755 and 829)
- Celestial-tier equipment: Because Angus is not defeated on the first counterattack, his final haul is reduced to ten Celestial set pieces and three ordinary Celestial pieces rather than thirteen set pieces. The drops include class-specific boots such as God Killer War Greaves. (Chapters 746–748 and 755)
