Roselyn Clandestine is an alchemist whose Calculation stigmata and years of independent research allow her to complete Magnus's Mana Crystallization Formula. After escaping Claude Rosamund's exploitation, she establishes her own workshop, builds Vanitas Astrea's signature gauntlet, completes the Coin of Resonance, and contributes to practical communication technology. Biography

Early Role and Commitments

Roselyn begins as an assistant professor working from a storage room with discarded equipment while Claude takes her theses and threatens to destroy her career if she resists. The pressure makes submission seem safer than authorship, but it does not stop her from experimenting: her notebooks contain years of corrections, and she has pursued the Mana Crystallization Formula since adolescence. Vanitas's intervention changes the conditions rather than doing the research for her. He supplies carefully chosen hints, funding, and Karina's protective presence; Roselyn conceals her notes from Claude, solves all eight layers in a month, and prepares to present the work under her own name. At the conference, Roselyn must defend both the supposedly impossible formula and her right to claim it. She explains the corrected third layer, the transitions through the uncharted fifth-to-eighth layers, and refinements Claude cannot understand; when he accuses her of plagiarism, her flexible answers expose the difference between authorship and memorization. Roselyn then publicly names his theft instead of retreating into the silence that had protected him. The investigation expels Claude and restores her stolen work, while merchants' offers give her the capital and contacts to open a proper workshop. Her success is therefore not merely recognition bestowed by allies: it follows her decision to answer expert scrutiny, accuse her abuser, and accept the commercial responsibilities that recognition brings. Later Conflict and Consequences

Roselyn converts her new independence into work that supports other people. She develops a casting gauntlet around two rare components, listens to Vanitas's testing feedback, adds stabilization, reinforcement, an adjustment spell, and cooling, then gives him the refined Astrea AG. II as a completed second prototype. In parallel, she and Sienna study the dormant Coin of Resonance; Vanitas removes a seal he can decipher, but Roselyn performs the recalibration, reaches partial functionality, completes the device, and passes it to him for expeditions. She also becomes Karina Maeril's confidante, listening without judgment after Karina leaves the university and respecting the limited message Karina chooses to send. Her later research broadens from personal commissions into infrastructure. As a lead alchemist on Irene Barielle Aetherion's communication-crystal project, Roselyn helps produce pre-chargeable devices with stabilized reservoirs, visual projection, and mana-signature encryption; she questions why Vanitas removed his name, then accepts that his public association would endanger the project. By the time he seizes Aetherion's throne, Roselyn has foreign sponsors and offers to leave, yet chooses to remain. She knowingly risks her workshop's funding, argues that the professor who let her exist as a researcher is still acting with purpose, and persuades one major investor to delay withdrawal. Appearance and personality

Roselyn wears glasses and usually works in a lab coat or practical, somewhat messy workshop clothes. For Vanitas's first gauntlet test she instead chooses a pressed blue blouse, white skirt, and polished shoes. Initially nervous, apologetic, and easily flustered, Roselyn has learned to make herself small around people with institutional power. Her research reveals a different temperament: patient, precise, inventive, and able to master a subject deeply enough to answer hostile questioning. Success does not erase her social awkwardness, but it gives her the confidence to direct assistants, negotiate with sponsors, comfort Karina, refuse migration, and sever talks with an investor whose support depends on abandoning Aetherion. Magic and abilities

Roselyn's documented elemental essences are Beginner Pyro and Intermediate Aether, but the corpus does not show her using either in combat or receiving a later attainment rank. Calculation supports Roselyn's rapid work on Magnus's eight-layer Mana Crystallization Formula. She recognizes unstable interpolation loops, treats coefficients as shifting rather than fixed, corrects the historically misunderstood third layer, and preserves mana-flow balance through the later layers. Completing the twenty-eight-page solution in roughly a month still depends on prior effort—she began the problem at fourteen and accumulated years of failed configurations—and on occasional prompts from Vanitas. At the conference she can derive and explain refinements under questioning, whereas Claude can only repeat surface arguments, showing that the stigmata assists genuine analytical command rather than substituting for it. The formula becomes a platform for applied research rather than a single academic trophy. Roselyn later works with engineers on reservoirs, resonance coils, and stabilized mana channels that allow communication crystals to store energy, project both sound and images, and restrict connections through pre-linked mana signatures. After testing reveals arm strain, she reinforces and refines the design into Astrea AG. II, adds a size-adjustment spell and absolute-zero cooling, and shapes it to fit like a second skin during extended use. A Master spell consumes about ten percent less mana in the test, while Roselyn warns that the facility may not survive a Grandmaster trial; the latter output is therefore untested rather than a confirmed gauntlet limit. Her handling of the Coin of Resonance shows a different engineering process. Roselyn and Sienna correctly identify it as a dormant but functional ancient geographic scaler and recognize that scattered marks form a seal, yet neither can read its demonic-language construction. • Karina Maeril: Karina initially acts as Roselyn's assistant and deterrent against Claude, then becomes her closest friend.
