Claude Rosamund

Claude Rosamund is a former Silver University alchemy professor whose early talent gives way to academic fraud and abuse. Financial support from Vanitas Astrea saves the Rosamund household, but Claude exploits his assistant Roselyn Clandestine, steals her research, and destroys his own career when her work surpasses what he can explain. His attempt at revenge through a Demonic Synthesizer Enhancement Drug ends in mass casualties, magical restraint, and probable lifelong confinement rather than the recognition he sought. Biography

Role in the Supplied Story

Claude begins as a genuinely powerful thirty-seven-year-old professor and a friendly admirer of Vanitas, whose money has rescued his nearly bankrupt earldom and funded his son's schooling. Behind that collegial facade, Claude berates and physically abuses Roselyn, threatens her with his connections, and presents her theses as his own after his own research career stalls. At the Estelle conference he delivers her Adaptive Mana Channels work as a breakthrough, then accuses her of plagiarism when her independent Mana Crystallization solution threatens his restored reputation. Roselyn answers beyond the point Claude understands and publicly identifies his theft; investigation confirms that only his first two career years were genuinely his, leading to expulsion from the Scholars Institute and exclusion from future conferences. Unable to accept the consequence of his own exploitation, Claude spends the last Rosamund funds on a Veil and takes a Demonic Synthesizer Enhancement Drug. The drug corrupts his mana core, mutates his body, and lets him kill or injure alchemists while pursuing Roselyn, but it also contains a self-destruct mechanism and cannot produce stable demonic power in a host who fails to acclimate. Vanitas stops him by threatening Charles, the son Claude still values after his abuse drove his wife to suicide; Claude abandons his final strike, allowing Margaret and the Crusade Order to shackle him. Appearance and personality

Claude's ordinary appearance is not described in sustained detail. During the drug-induced corruption, half his face turns purple, veins bulge, his features become nearly unrecognizable, and his body bloats and distorts toward a demonic shape. That form is temporary and fatal by design, not his natural appearance or a stable transformation he later controls. (Chapters 77–78)

Claude can appear affable, enthusiastic, and deferential around Vanitas, yet he is insecure, controlling, and cruel toward subordinates who cannot easily answer him. He understands enough of Roselyn's work to rehearse a presentation but values credit over truth and interprets her independence as theft from him. His remaining attachment to Charles is genuine enough to interrupt corrupted rage, although it does not erase his alcoholism, domestic abuse, responsibility for his wife's suicide, or the violence committed while seeking revenge. Magic and abilities

Claude has no stigmata. Vanitas's appraisal identifies Pyro at Master, Gaia at Grandmaster, and Zephyr at Master, and judges Claude's advanced spellcasting and raw magical prowess superior to Vanitas's at that early point. These are discovered elemental essences and their listed levels, not evidence of a separately stated overall mage rank. His academic failure also shows that powerful casting does not guarantee original research skill or deep command of another scholar's formulas. (Chapter 16)

Conventional magic and alchemy

Claude is capable of advanced spells and has enough alchemical knowledge to teach theory, conduct early-career research, and understand the surface of Roselyn's Adaptive Mana Channels presentation. The investigation after his exposure finds his first two years of work legitimate, while later breakthroughs are inconsistent with his demonstrated answers and trace back to Roselyn. The corpus does not show a named conventional combat spell, establish chant speed, or connect a specific Pyro, Gaia, or Zephyr technique to the Alchemy Tower casualties. Demonic Synthesizer Enhancement Drug

The drug is an acquired, temporary, and destructive enhancement rather than an innate ability. It corrupts Claude's mana core into a demonic core and produces dark tendrils, black lightning, enhanced movement, barriers, and output strong enough to defeat alchemists and resist coordinated mages, knights, and mana-disrupting elixirs. His despair and hatred accompany escalating force, but the source describes him as an uncontrolled demon rather than a trained dark mage. He also purchases the Veil enclosing the tower with family money; it is prepared infrastructure, not a demonstrated spell he creates unaided. (Chapter 77)

The enhancement has decisive limits. Claude cannot acclimate, his body visibly corrupts, his judgment collapses into fixation on Roselyn, and the built-in self-destruct mechanism will ultimately consume him. Knights of the Round Table can cut through his dark magic, accumulating wounds reduce his strength, and emotional leverage involving Charles makes him stop using magic long enough to be restrained in mana shackles.
