Astrea AG. II, formally the Astrea Archmage Gauntlet II, is Roselyn's customized casting medium for Vanitas, built around the Ethereal Fragment and Numen's Azure Shard.

History

Designing a Wearable Medium

Vanitas practices with a plain gauntlet because casting above Master rank without a medium risks nerve damage and even the loss of an arm, while carrying a staff would interfere with his preferred movement. He commissions Roselyn to turn that concept into a functioning device. Her first prototype proves that the two shards can produce a compact black-steel medium, though Vanitas still feels some strain and asks her to continue refining it. (Chapters 57, 73, and 80)

Astrea AG. II

Roselyn presents the second version as a gift, naming it Astrea AG. II and fitting it with amethyst-lined joints, an adaptive sizing spell, and an absolute-zero cooling formula. Testing confirms that mana flows through it without restricting his hand, that its support lowers the cost of Lightning Nova, and that it can sustain his distinctive finger-pistol casting posture. Vanitas subsequently wears it in travel, combat, and his Imperial Professor demonstration. (Chapters 90–96, 167, 184, and 216)

Abilities and properties

• Detects mana within five hundred meters and slowly restores mana while worn. (Chapter 90)
• Strengthens spell potency and efficiency while harmonizing with Vanitas's mana for improved control. (Chapter 90)
• Reduces the tested cost of Lightning Nova from three thousand mana by three hundred, demonstrating efficiency rather than cost-free casting. (Chapter 90)
• Its cooling and adjustment formulas let it fit like a second skin for extended use, but the device cannot remove the finite limits of Vanitas's reserves or illness. (Chapters 90–91)
