Half-blood Dragon
The Half-blood Dragon is Arm's unnamed human-dragon chimera, an ancient experiment whose defeat makes him a reluctant source of intelligence about the organization that created him.
Biography
Northern war and Death Canyon
The Half-blood Dragon first appears among Arm's forces during the invasion of Karo. Initially taken for an exceptionally powerful mage, he is identified by Raon Mir as carrying both human and dragon scents. His light-attribute magic, speed, and enormous reserves make him one of Arm's core Red Stars and a threat capable of overwhelming ordinary armies (Chapters 47–48).
At Death Canyon, he enters the battle to break the southern coalition. He attacks with light arrows, thunderbolts, flight, and high-speed magic while displaying deep contempt for humans and true dragons alike. Raon wounds him, and Choi Han drives imperfect darkness into the injury, causing the incompatible powers inside his body to tear at one another (Chapter 51).
His dragon blood runs berserk. Scales spread across his body as he releases hundreds of thunderbolts without distinguishing between allies and enemies, driven by a desire to kill Raon and prove that a true dragon can be reduced to the same misery he has endured. The combined resistance of Cale's group defeats him, leaving his body grotesquely transformed and close to death (Chapters 51–52).
Cale Henituse uses a blood-draining crown to suppress the rampaging dragon power and extend his life. Gashan binds him with incantations, and the coalition takes him prisoner rather than allowing him to die on the battlefield (Chapter 52).
Aftermath and the Mogor crisis
Under guard, the Half-blood Dragon reveals that he is a man-made chimera created nine hundred years earlier. White Star, Arm's leader and the man he was forced to call Father, placed a dragon heart alongside his human heart. He later consumed four more dragon hearts to force growth, while additional dragon killings supported White Star's plans. The mixture of multiple draconic colors turned his natural hair, eyes, and scales black (Chapter 55).
He explains that his artificial body could reach only a second growth phase and that White Star kept him isolated in a cave for most of his life. His hatred of dragons is tangled with envy, while his hatred of White Star comes from centuries of forced pain and control. Erhaven regards him with anger for the dragons consumed and horror at the unnatural process used to create him (Chapter 55).
Cale offers him a choice between immediate death and six more months of life in exchange for guiding the group to Arm. For the first time, he chooses his own fate and selects the six months. The crown then removes the remaining dragon blood, leaving him weaker than an average human and still in pain from the lingering conflict between light and darkness (Chapter 56).
By the Eastern Continent operation, he lives under strict supervision, provides information on Arm's surviving brigades and central bases, and is told to rest and perform light work at the inn until Cale needs him. The ordinary prospect of earning meals and choosing a hair color is bewildering to someone whose life was previously confined to a cave and battlefield (Chapter 58).
Appearance and personality
He first presents as a striking white-gold-haired mage, but his deteriorating transformation reveals black hair, black eyes, and black scales created by the mixture of several dragons' colors. When his power runs berserk, his body becomes a painful hybrid of reptilian scales and human flesh. After the dragon blood is removed, he appears fully human but frail and chronically pained (Chapters 51–56).
He is arrogant, bitter, cruel in battle, and obsessed with the divide between superior dragons and inferior humans. Those traits grow from profound isolation and resentment but do not erase his responsibility for serving Arm or trying to kill Cale's allies. In custody, his blunt curiosity and uncertainty reveal how little ordinary life he has experienced.
Abilities and powers
Light-attribute magic
Before the blood drain, the Half-blood Dragon channels immense mana into flight, rapid movement, shields, light arrows, explosive spheres, and thunderbolts. Light can erase Choi Han's incomplete darkness in a direct clash, while barrages threaten a fortress-scale battlefield and forces spread across it. (Chapters 47–48, 51)
Output is not identical to control. Coordinated attacks by Raon, Choi Han, whales, tigers, and mages create wounds and divide his attention. When rage overrides target selection, the thunderbolts strike without distinguishing allies from enemies, turning strategic power into indiscriminate destruction.
Artificial dragon hearts and forced growth
White Star places a dragon heart beside his human heart and later forces growth through four more consumed dragon hearts. The artificial system grants longevity, dragon senses, immense reserves, scales, and development up to a second phase. Multiple dragon colors mix into black hair, eyes, and scales rather than creating a natural bloodline. (Chapters 51–52, 55)
The system is inherently unstable. A natural dragon's growth cannot be reproduced by stacking hearts indefinitely, and incompatible powers inside the human frame remain vulnerable. Choi Han's darkness driven into Raon's wound makes light and darkness tear at that instability from within.
Berserk dragon blood and the drained human state
When the wound destabilizes his hearts, dragon blood runs berserk: scales spread, physical power rises, and hundreds of thunderbolts erupt. This is a self-destructive failure state rather than a mastered transformation. Cale's blood-draining crown suppresses it long enough to prevent immediate death. (Chapters 51–52)
The later procedure removes the remaining dragon blood and with it the dependable source of his former combat power. He becomes weaker than an average human, while residual light and darkness continue causing pain. His six-month state therefore supplies memory and Arm intelligence, not a hidden reserve of fortress-scale magic. (Chapters 56, 58)
