Magic Wishing Lamp

The Magic Wishing Lamp, designated 0-05, is a golden miniature-lamp-like vessel that combines a Miracle Invoker characteristic with a seal imprisoning Genie, a separated aspect of the Uncertain Mist. It can grant ten wishes to an owner, but its intelligent distortion of language and the catastrophic rule attached to a third accumulated wish make it one of the world's most dangerous artifacts.

History

Roselle's warning and Bernadette's wishes

Roselle Gustav once owns the lamp and warns Bernadette Gustav that careful wording and preparation may survive the first two wishes, but the third must never be made. Bernadette uses her second wish to obtain a Knowledge Emperor's strength for one day, then entrusts the lamp to Cattleya during a dangerous expedition. She explains that custody does not reset ownership: any wish made by a temporary wielder also advances the owner's count. Cattleya returns the artifact after Bernadette's safe return. Klein's bargain

Through Cattleya's prayer, Genie reaches Klein Moretti in Sefirah Castle and offers freedom, a Miracle Invoker characteristic, and wishes. Klein initially refuses, then bargains during his captivity in Adam's corpse cathedral: Genie will grant two wishes, and Klein must send the lamp into the cosmos before the end of 1368. Klein first transfers Bernadette's two prior wishes to himself, then wishes for Utopia to gain a corresponding spirit-world region. His accumulated count crosses the lethal threshold, killing him and enabling his escape by resurrection. (Chapters 1241–1242 and 1349)

Shield and divine contest

Klein later borrows the lamp for his apotheosis preparations. Genie refuses further cooperative wishes before the bargain is fulfilled, so Klein exploits the prison's extreme durability as a shield and the Genie's status as leverage over the Trunsoest Brass Book. During the battle with Amon, the lamp withstands divine-level conflict while Genie helps bend the brass book's rules before retreating exhausted into the seal. Klein returns the lamp to Bernadette after the battle. (Chapters 1372, 1378–1383, and 1388)

The strike against the Uncertain Mist

During the vortex ritual, Bernadette provides the lamp to the resurrected Roselle. He uses his corruption by the Uncertain Mist and the lamp's connection to Genie to make the weakened prisoner mystically equivalent to the distant Outer Deity. Amon and Adam then channel Chaos Sea through the second Blasphemy Slate, nearly destroying Genie and severely injuring the Uncertain Mist. The remaining blue-white light retreats into the intact lamp, which Amon returns to Bernadette. About a year later, Genie can speak again but remains weak and unable to grant meaningful wishes; he supplies strategic advice during the approaching apocalypse while staying sealed. Abilities and properties

• Rubbing or invoking the lamp lights its wick and manifests Genie as thick golden radiance. The artifact tempts its holder through dreams and illusions to summon him and make wishes, even when otherwise inert. (Chapters 1239–1241)
• It can grant an owner up to ten wishes, but fulfillment is often warped or accompanied by terrifying consequences. Wishes must be simple and concise; an overcomplicated request may be rejected while still counting as made. (Chapters 1145 and 1239)
• Proper wording and preparation can reduce the harm from the first two accumulated wishes. The third triggers an Outer-Deity-level backlash. Changing wielder does not reset the owner's count, and a wish can accumulate simultaneously for both owner and wielder. (Chapters 1239 and 1372)
• Genie is intelligent, autonomous, and actively searches for exploitable wording. Wishes involving true-deity status exceed safe limits: Bernadette's example predicts that a request to become Sequence 0 could be fulfilled by merging the petitioner with an unknown evil god. (Chapter 1239)
• The lamp can temporarily grant very high power, as when Bernadette receives Knowledge Emperor strength for a day, but this remains a wish with accumulated cost rather than a routine selectable function. (Chapter 1145)
• Its body is extraordinarily durable. A true deity previously failed to destroy it, and Klein uses it as a shield in a divine confrontation. The prison also cannot be summoned as an ordinary Historical Void projection because it involves a much higher-level existence. (Chapters 1178, 1242, and 1372–1383)
• Genie can use the Miracle Invoker characteristic forming part of the seal and magnify its effects with his own status. While sealed, however, his reach has limits, and after the Chaos Sea strike he is too weakened to grant substantial wishes. (Chapters 1241, 1283, 2315–2316, and 2559)
• Klein's binding agreement requires the lamp to be sent into the cosmos before the end of 1368; failure is stated to cause his death and splitting even if he becomes the Lord of the Mysteries. The corpus ends before the promised transfer is shown. (Chapter 1349)
