Kaeul's Reverse-Scale Anklet
Kaeul's Reverse-Scale Anklet is Chirpy's handmade identification tag, fitted with Kaeul's pierced gold reverse scale so that danger reaching him can also reach her senses across dimensions.
History
A farewell identification tag
Kaeul decides that Chirpy should have an identifying tag like the animals she saw at a spirit-beast cafe. Because his round, fluffy body makes a necklace awkward and potentially dangerous, she instead makes an anklet. News that the passage to Anum is closing forces her to finish it within hours; with Bom's help, she pierces her own gold reverse scale and fixes it to the band, then places the completed anklet around Chirpy's leg immediately before his departure. An alarm across dimensions
Two months later, Kaeul's gold-race danger sense receives a powerful foreign warning through the scale and alerts her that Chirpy is in distant peril. She follows that alarm through the collapsing passage to Anum, but the anklet cannot guide her to him once the mixed auras of the battlefield overwhelm the signal. The direction she finally receives comes separately from Keeper of the Clock, distinguishing the anklet's warning function from precise tracking or physical protection. (Chapters 308–309)
Abilities and properties
- The anklet functions as an identification tag sized for Chirpy's leg, avoiding the strangling risk and poor fit of a necklace on his fluffy body. (Chapter 307)
- Its gold reverse scale is Kaeul's unique reversed dragon scale. The scale is directly connected to her dragon heart's nerves and carries refined mana from the heart. (Chapter 307)
- The scale transmits a distant crisis to Kaeul's gold-race danger sense even after Chirpy returns to another dimension, including the immense scale of the threat. (Chapters 308–309)
- It does not provide a reliable direction amid many overlapping auras, and no defensive barrier, healing effect, or protection for Chirpy is demonstrated. Keeper of the Clock supplies the later directional indicator independently. (Chapter 309)
