Ling Ling

Ling Ling is a small Chinese swordfighter raised by Erfan Guild's severe training system. Her ferocious close combat initially makes her one of Yeorum's rivals, while her anxious conduct outside battle exposes the pressure placed on her by Erfan's guardians. Later growth earns her a place beside Kaeul, Yong Taeha, and Tyr Brzenk in Team Lair. (Chapters 104–106, 121, 154, 156–157, 253–254, 267–272, 307)

Biography

From Erfan rival to Team Lair fighter

Ling Ling enters Lair as one of Erfan Guild's leading cadets and fights Yeorum with a reckless intensity that ignores broken bones, blood, or conventional restraint. The defeat leaves her fearful and dependent on guardians who speak for her in public. When Yeorum later targets Erfan's competitors, Ling Ling independently approaches Yu Jitae, apologizes, and delivers her guardian's business card because the guild's atmosphere has become unbearable. Her frightened but voluntary mediation helps open a path away from the immediate cycle of retaliation. (Chapters 104–106, 121, 154, 156–157)

Ling Ling's sustained improvement eventually surpasses Zhou Luxun's position within Erfan and earns her a place on Team Lair. She states that she wants to protect China by standing in the most dangerous place, a goal tested when a powerful golem ruptures both eardrums and damages her organs. Kaeul heals her and remains beside her through the pain, strengthening their partnership. Ling Ling later shares a dorm with Kaeul, joins the campaign against Team White's manipulation, and continues fighting with Team Lair during the wider monster crisis. Appearance and personality

Ling Ling is an exceptionally small Chinese girl with dark red hair, red eyes, unkempt hair during combat, and prominent fangs. Her size lets her appear hidden among taller cadets, but her compact movements and animal-like aggression give her a striking battlefield presence. She speaks softly and sometimes fumbles her words when anxious. (Chapters 104–106, 157, 253, 269)

Outside battle she is nervous, emotionally transparent, and capable of compassion even toward a guardian whose decisions harm her. When angered, however, her language becomes coarse and she can act impulsively, as when she throws her own birthday cake after Team White's provocation. Her willingness to clean the mess herself and later question excessive revenge shows that anger does not erase her conscience. (Chapters 157, 267–270)

Twin-sword combat and fire blessing

Ling Ling fights with two swords held in a reverse grip. She can plant them against the ground like poles to accelerate her small body across roughly fifteen metres, then attack with rapid crossing slashes. Her fire-attribute blessing coats the blades in flame and increases their offensive threat. Against Yeorum, she continues after being overpowered and shifts from swordplay to grappling, headbutting, biting, and tearing at protective equipment. This tenacity makes her dangerous, but superior power repeatedly breaks her guard and limbs. (Chapters 104–106)

Reinforcement and endurance

Ling Ling can reinforce an expected impact point and protect her organs with mana. The technique saves her from an immediately decisive blow by a golem, but it does not cancel the force: she still suffers bleeding, ruptured eardrums, extensive internal damage, and several days of painful recovery. Her resilience therefore supports high-risk frontline fighting without making her invulnerable. (Chapter 267)

Relationships

• Kaeul: Ling Ling becomes Kaeul's Team Lair colleague and dormmate. Kaeul runs to her after the golem's attack, applies emergency healing, and stays close during the painful recovery; Ling Ling later participates in Kaeul's more humane response to Team White. (Chapters 253–254, 263, 267–272, 307)
• Yeorum: Their relationship begins with a brutal spar in which Ling Ling bites and grapples after losing control of her swords. Yeorum remains hostile when Ling Ling later approaches to apologize for Erfan, but the apology shows Ling Ling choosing negotiation despite her fear of the former opponent. • Erfan Guild: Erfan gives Ling Ling elite combat training but subjects her to a harsh hierarchy and public image management. Twin swords

Ling Ling's paired swords are both weapons and movement aids. Held in reverse grip, they can be driven against the ground to launch her body forward, and her fire blessing can ignite their blades. They remain vulnerable to overwhelming force: Yeorum breaks through her attempts to parry and eventually destroys a wooden sword along with her guard. (Chapters 104–106)

Wyvernip necklace

Ling Ling keeps dried Wyvernip inside a necklace. The plant has a pleasant scent and can serve as an expensive air freshener or talisman; Kaeul notices the fragrance and asks Ling Ling for a piece. No combat or protective effect is demonstrated for Ling Ling's necklace. (Chapters 285–286)
