Ye Feimu
Ye Feimu is the East Pill Division's favored Furnace Lord and Chu Yuyan's principal rival in Grandmaster Pill Demon's Violet Furnace Lord promotion trial.
Biography
Favorite for the Violet Furnace trial
Ye Feimu enters Grandmaster Pill Demon's promotion trial as the East Pill Division's overwhelming favorite. He is already an elite Furnace Lord, has powerful senior supporters, and is widely believed to be the mysterious Grandmaster Pill Cauldron. Those expectations are not empty: he advances rapidly through the trial, rejects merely adequate completed pills, and tries to demonstrate an alchemical path worthy of the Violet Furnace title rather than accumulating safe points. (Chapters 278–284)
His strongest work provokes Pill Tribulation and creates a ten-thousand-step alchemical path, externalizing the completeness of his pill Dao. The feat confirms his standing even though Fang Mu continues advancing after others believe the result settled. In the final illusion Ye Feimu emerges convinced that he has won. The confidence collapses when Fang Mu not only surpasses his result but proves publicly that he, rather than Ye Feimu, is the true Pill Cauldron. The defeat attacks both Ye Feimu's performance and the identity the division had projected onto him. (Chapters 285–292)
Ye Feimu responds with rage and grief before ultimately bowing to Pill Demon. Pill Demon does not erase his achievements because another alchemist was greater; Ye Feimu is accepted as a Violet Furnace Lord novitiate alongside the other successful candidates. The outcome preserves a meaningful distinction between losing first place and lacking qualification. His path continues, but without the certainty that he is the division's singular future. (Chapters 292–293)
Rebirth Cave
Ye Feimu leads a Violet Fate group toward the Rebirth Cave and meets Fang Mu again outside the protected structure of an alchemy trial. He acknowledges Fang Mu's skill while turning rivalry into a concrete challenge: which of them can first refine the Immortal blood available inside Choumen Tai's corpse. The wager requires more than formula knowledge because the material and mental realm expose the expedition to lethal cultivation forces. (Chapters 294–301)
When the corpse's realm collapses, Ye Feimu continues fighting despite severe wounds. He openly addresses Meng Hao as Fang Mu after the hidden identity can no longer be treated as a private sect matter. Survival and acknowledgment do not make them close friends, but they convert his rivalry from denial into recognition of the same opponent across alchemy and cultivation. He later stands with the Violet Fate Sect as Meng Hao departs the Southern Domain. (Chapters 302–309 and 314)
Later encounters
At the Ancient Dao Lakes, Ye Feimu sees Meng Hao return after a teleportation trap and watches with a complicated expression. The former Furnace Lord contest remains the measure through which he understands the gap between them: Ye Feimu has continued cultivating, but Meng Hao has become the Blood Prince and a power who redistributes opportunities among entire sects. He remains with the Violet Fate delegation during the confrontation rather than reviving a challenge that no longer belongs to the same scale. (Chapters 712 and 715–716)
When Meng Hao and Xu Qing later visit with their wedding invitation, Ye Feimu stands silently among old East Pill figures beside the unhappy Hanxue Shan. His last supplied appearance leaves him inside the sect and its memories, not as a renewed claimant to Pill Cauldron's identity. (Chapter 764)
Appearance and personality
Ye Feimu is handsome, aloof, and controlled in the bearing expected of a celebrated Furnace Lord. During the promotion trial that composure is reinforced by supporters who treat his success as inevitable. When Fang Mu reveals himself as Pill Cauldron, Ye Feimu's outward certainty breaks into visible rage and grief, making the personal cost of the public reversal unmistakable. (Chapters 278–293)
He is intensely competitive and proud, but not incapable of accepting evidence. His alchemy aims beyond easy completion, and he continues dangerous work after losing the title he expected. Bowing to Pill Demon and later acknowledging Fang Mu show that wounded pride does not entirely destroy his discipline. Even so, later silence around Meng Hao suggests that recognition never becomes uncomplicated affection. (Chapters 285–309, 712, 715–716 and 764)
Abilities and cultivation
Elite Furnace Lord alchemy
Ye Feimu can identify, design, and refine original pills at the top of the Furnace Lord rank. He rejects easy solutions in the promotion trial because Violet Furnace qualification is meant to reveal a complete personal pill Dao, not just competent reproduction. (Chapters 278–292)
Pill Tribulation
One of his trial creations draws heavenly Pill Tribulation, evidence that the pill has crossed an extraordinary qualitative threshold. Provoking tribulation proves the pill's significance but also exposes the creation and alchemist to destructive heavenly force. (Chapters 285–291)
Ten-thousand-step alchemical path
His pill manifests a long Dao path representing accumulated alchemical achievement. Fang Mu's later result surpasses it, so the manifestation is a high benchmark rather than the absolute limit of East Pill alchemy. (Chapters 285–292)
Immortal-blood refinement
Ye Feimu can analyze and attempt to refine Immortal blood in the Rebirth Cave. The material's danger and the collapsing mental realm prevent the challenge from functioning like an ordinary controlled pill contest. (Chapters 294–309)
Cultivation and combat endurance
He has sufficient cultivation to join the corpse expedition and continue after serious injury. The corpus does not support crediting him with Meng Hao's later realm or treating alchemical rank as automatic battle supremacy. (Chapters 294–309)
Relationships
- Meng Hao: Alchemical rival who defeats him as Fang Mu and reveals himself as the real Pill Cauldron. Ye Feimu later acknowledges the result without becoming a close companion.
- Chu Yuyan: Fellow promotion candidate whose original work makes her another serious rival rather than a ceremonial participant.
- Ye Yuntian: Senior Violet Furnace Lord and strongest supporter, whose confidence helps establish Ye Feimu as the expected winner.
- Grandmaster Pill Demon: Judge and sect master before whom Ye Feimu bows after defeat. Pill Demon still accepts him as a Violet Furnace novitiate on the strength of his own work.
