Winding Stream Dao Reserve
The Winding Stream Dao Reserve is the unnamed patriarch awakened from suspended preservation after the sect's expedition leaders die. He joins the State of Zhao's other reserves but survives the confrontation by sacrificing cultivation and fleeing.
Biography
Awakening
The Winding Stream Sect activates its final reserve when the senior expedition's life slips break. Like the Cold Wind and Upright Evening reserves, he has been maintained in a deathlike state so the sect can deploy one last Great Circle Core Formation expert during existential danger. (Chapter 88)
Reliance Sect confrontation
He reaches the Reliance Sect alongside the other False Nascent Soul patriarchs. All three stop and bow when Lord Revelation appears with the Revelation Bell, recognizing rank before the man's true realm is exposed. (Chapter 92)
When Lord Revelation reveals Spirit Severing cultivation and sends a palm across the mountains, the Winding Stream reserve abandons confrontation. He burns part of his cultivation to reach the attack's edge. The palm is severed and its pieces still kill others, but he survives the debris and remains to witness the State of Zhao rise from the ground on Patriarch Reliance's turtle body. (Chapters 93–95)
Appearance and personality
The source does not distinguish his physical appearance from the other Dao Reserves. His actions show deference toward stronger cultivators and a survival-oriented willingness to exchange permanent advancement for immediate escape.
Abilities and cultivation
False Nascent Soul state
He stands at the Great Circle of Core Formation after a failed or incomplete Nascent Soul transition. The “False Nascent Soul” designation grants exceptional Core-level power but not the qualitative strength of a true Nascent Soul.
Suspended preservation
The sect can maintain him in reserve and awaken him only when senior losses threaten survival. This extends institutional availability but leaves him an emergency asset rather than an active daily leader.
Cultivation-burning escape
He sacrifices part of his cultivation base for a sharp increase in flight speed. The method is effective enough to reach the edge of a Spirit Severing palm, but it permanently lowers the power it consumes and succeeds partly because the attack is cut apart.
