Upright Evening Dao Reserve
The Upright Evening Dao Reserve is an unnamed patriarch preserved by the Upright Evening Sect as its final reserve. He awakens after the sect’s expedition leaders die, joins the other two State of Zhao sects' False Nascent Soul patriarchs at the Reliance Sect, and survives Lord Revelation's attack only by sacrificing part of his cultivation.
Biography
Awakening of the Dao Reserve
After the life slips of the Upright Evening Sect’s expedition leaders crumble, the sect faces a loss severe enough to trigger its last deterrent. It activates the Dao Reserve in parallel with the Cold Wind and Winding Stream Sects. The unnamed patriarch awakens from suspended animation, exchanging the protected remainder of his lifespan for active service in a crisis ordinary elders cannot answer. (Chapter 88)
Arrival at the Reliance Sect
The Upright Evening patriarch arrives at the Reliance Sect with the Cold Wind Dao Reserve and Winding Stream Dao Reserve. Their combined appearance represents the highest emergency strength the three local sects can mobilize. All three halt before Lord Revelation and bow, immediately recognizing that even their collective rank does not put them on equal footing with the outsider. (Chapter 92)
Lord Revelation’s attack
When Lord Revelation displays Spirit Severing power and creates a palm spanning the surrounding mountains, respect becomes flight. The three Dao Reserves understand that staying would not defend their sects; it would simply erase their final reserves. The Upright Evening patriarch burns away part of the cultivation he preserved through suspended animation to accelerate, barely reaching the edge of the attack. Survival therefore costs a portion of the very strength his sect awakened him to use. (Chapters 93–94)
Patriarch Reliance’s true body
Still within the State of Zhao, the Upright Evening Dao Reserve stares in shock as the country rises from the earth and is revealed to rest on Patriarch Reliance’s colossal turtle body. The revelation reduces the preceding sect conflict to activity on the back of a far greater being. His final scoped scene leaves him alive but confronted with a scale of power his reserve status never prepared him to control. (Chapter 95)
Appearance and personality
The volume gives this patriarch no name or individual physical description. His identity is institutional: he is the Upright Evening Sect's preserved ancestor. His actions show deference toward Lord Revelation and immediate caution once he recognizes an attack far beyond his own cultivation. Sacrificing cultivation to flee is pragmatic rather than triumphant; no source evidence establishes personal cowardice, a private ambition, or a later fate. (Chapters 92–95)
Abilities and cultivation
False Nascent Soul state
The Dao Reserve exists in a False Nascent Soul condition at the Great Circle of Core Formation. He attempted the transition toward Nascent Soul without completing a true breakthrough, leaving him above ordinary Core Formation cultivators but below a genuine Nascent Soul expert. The title “False Nascent Soul” describes that incomplete state and should not be treated as full access to Nascent Soul power. (Chapters 88 and 92)
Suspended animation
The Upright Evening Sect preserves him in suspended animation so that age does not immediately consume the remainder of his life. This turns one dying patriarch into a delayed strategic reserve: he remains unavailable for routine affairs and is awakened only when the sect's leaders perish. Activation is effectively irreversible in the supplied arc, because returning to dormancy and restoring the spent lifespan are never demonstrated. (Chapter 88)
Cultivation sacrifice and flight
He can fly at the speed expected of a peak local patriarch and deliberately burn part of his cultivation to accelerate beyond that baseline. The sacrifice lets him reach the edge of Lord Revelation's enormous palm attack, making it an emergency escape method rather than an ordinary movement technique. Its cost is permanent loss of cultivated power, especially serious for someone already unable to complete the Nascent Soul breakthrough. Even so, the method only barely escapes the edge of a Spirit Severing attack and offers no way to counterattack at that level. (Chapters 93–94)
