Taiyang Zi

Taiyang Zi is Mount Sun's Dao Child, a solar cultivator who becomes one of the Ninth Mountain and Sea's new true Immortals. His rivalry with Meng Hao begins in humiliation, matures into determined competition, and ends in voluntary sacrifice for the Mountain and Sea Realm.

Biography

Immortal Ancient Daoist Rite

Taiyang Zi arrives on Planet South Heaven in golden robes with Mount Sun disciples and elder Dao Protectors. His body shines like a sun and radiates enough heat to ignite the ground around him. As Dao Child of a Holy Land formed around a fallen sun, he is among the first Chosen to approach the unsealed Immortal Ancient Daoist Rite temple. He correctly identifies Meng Hao's buried explosive traps as black-peeled medicinal pills and initially challenges the apparent temple groundskeeper as an impostor. (Chapters 811–812)

His confidence erodes as Meng Hao manipulates the temple's lethal restrictions. After threatening to burn Meng Hao's bones, blood, and soul, Taiyang Zi is switched inside the courtyard, restrained by Meng Hao's second true self, and stripped of valuables under coercion. He surrenders a golden Divine Sunstone and signs a promissory note for the price of his life. The episode establishes the debt that Meng Hao repeatedly invokes and leaves Taiyang Zi with both personal resentment and proof that institutional status cannot protect him from an unconventional opponent. East Ascension Sun and true Immortality

Taiyang Zi later meets Meng Hao on Planet East Victory. He joins Song Luodan and Wang Mu in resisting another debt collection, transforming into blinding sunlight and manifesting a Dharma Idol marked by an Immortality Illumination Vine. Meng Hao defeats the three together, but the impending East Ascension Sun interrupts the dispute and offers a more meaningful contest. Because Taiyang Zi's cultivation is directly connected to the sun, he initially advances farther through the sunlight than stronger contemporaries. (Chapters 928–934)

At 90,000 meters, sunlight has refined his body to a barrier. Taiyang Zi activates Sun Immortal Veins with a Divine Sunstone, manifests a burning Dharma Idol, and forces himself to 159,000 meters. His body begins to melt and the stone crumbles, so he stops one meter below what he believes would kill him. Meng Hao's much greater ascent casts the whole generation into shadow, but Taiyang Zi interprets that fact as both curse and privilege: he cannot match Meng Hao, yet can witness and measure himself against an unprecedented path. He returns to Mount Sun, enters seclusion, and subsequently becomes a true Immortal. (Chapters 935–941, 957–967)

Battle of the true Immortals

After Meng Hao opens 123 Immortal meridians, Taiyang Zi is the first newly ascended Chosen to challenge him. He has more than ninety meridians and knows defeat is likely, but believes refusing to fight would damage the Dao and ambition on which future breakthroughs depend. His sun-form and Dharma Idol collapse under one physical punch. Instead of withdrawing, he pays the heavy cost of the Sacred Sun Scripture to increase his effective meridian power by roughly twenty percent and release nine sun-shaped Immortal souls with Immortal Arrow Nine Suns Destruction. Meng Hao catches and breaks the golden arrow with two fingers. (Chapters 984–986)

Taiyang Zi joins the other Chosen for a final combined attack, superimposing his nine suns into one destructive heavenly body. Meng Hao crushes his chest and leaves him near death but deliberately spares him, recognizing that the challenge arises from pursuit of Dao rather than personal enmity. Taiyang Zi survives with a clearer understanding of the distance between them. (Chapters 986–990)

Debt, warning, and final war

Years later, Meng Hao visits Mount Sun to enforce the old promissory note. Taiyang Zi attempts to resist, but the conflict quickly moves beyond him when Mount Sun's Ancient and Dao Realm elders confront Meng Hao. A three-Essences Dao Lord finally orders the Holy Land to pay one million Immortal jades and forbids disciples from creating either gratitude or enmity with Meng Hao. Taiyang Zi is humiliated again, yet the encounter confirms that his former rival has become someone even Mount Sun's Patriarchs fear to provoke. (Chapters 1196–1198)

Taiyang Zi nevertheless contacts Meng Hao when Chu Yuyan's soul is dispersing, showing that rivalry no longer prevents him from passing an urgent warning. During the Outsider invasion, he joins the entire Mountain and Sea Realm in battle. Once his magical techniques, divine abilities, and items are exhausted, he keeps fighting physically, biting into an Outsider's throat while enemies strike him. Losing consciousness, he declares his identity and loyalty to the Mountains and Seas, then self-detonates without regret. The explosion kills the enemy in his grasp and badly wounds others. (Chapters 1207–1208, 1386)

Allheaven's false reunion

Allheaven later projects Taiyang Zi among familiar people gathered around the sealed Vast Expanse Arcane Pocket Realm. This figure belongs to a false consensus intended to convince Meng Hao that the destroyed Mountain and Sea Realm was only a dream. It does not reverse the real Taiyang Zi's self-detonation in Chapter 1386 or establish that his true self survived. (Chapter 1509)

Appearance and personality

Taiyang Zi is a young man in a golden robe whose brilliance, heat, and bearing make him resemble a walking sun. He begins arrogant, invokes Mount Sun's founder when captured, and reacts furiously to humiliation. Competition gradually reveals more durable qualities. He knows when another step through solar heat will kill him, but pushes to the exact edge; he challenges Meng Hao after true Immortal Ascension even though defeat is probable; and he continues fighting after his strongest secret art fails. His final self-detonation transforms pride in his personal name into loyalty to an entire realm. The arc does not erase his vanity, but shows it becoming courage rather than entitlement. Abilities and cultivation

True Immortal foundation

Taiyang Zi delays an ordinary breakthrough until Immortal destiny appears, fuses an Immortality Illumination Vine, and opens more than ninety Immortal meridians. The meridians power a large Dharma Idol and at least nine Immortal souls. He is one of only two Mount Sun cultivators of his generation to attain true Immortality. This makes him an elite of the Ninth Mountain and Sea, but Meng Hao's self-corroborated 123-meridian foundation remains categorically stronger. (Chapters 931, 935, 957–967, 984–986)

Solar body and sun-form

His ordinary cultivation radiates intense heat capable of igniting the land. In combat or meditation he can turn into blinding sunlight or a sun-like sphere marked with magical symbols, combining his body, cultivation, and Dharma Idol into the image of a heavenly body. The form supports high-speed charges and explosive impact. It is still a constructed divine ability, not a literal star; Meng Hao's physical punch shatters it outright. (Chapters 811, 931–934, 985)

Sunlight absorption and body tempering

Mount Sun's method lets Taiyang Zi absorb solar light and heat more efficiently than peers whose overall cultivation may be stronger. East Ascension sunlight scorches impurities from the body and becomes more intense at greater altitude. Taiyang Zi reaches 90,000 meters before encountering a bodily barrier, then uses a Divine Sunstone and Sun Immortal Veins to climb to 159,000. His melting flesh and own assessment establish the limit: forcing even one more meter at that moment would kill him. (Chapters 933–935)

Sun Immortal Veins

This technique spreads a visible pattern of veins over his entire body, burns the Immortality Illumination Vine around his Dharma Idol, and releases a temporary surge of solar power. A Divine Sunstone helps activate or sustain the ascent. The technique can break through a current tempering barrier, but consumes the stone and cannot remove the body's ultimate tolerance; Taiyang Zi stops when continued absorption becomes fatal. (Chapter 935)

Sacred Sun Scripture

Taiyang Zi strikes forty-nine pressure points to activate the scripture's first-level secret amplification. It raises the effective output of his ninety-plus Immortal meridians by about twenty percent, giving him power resembling more than 110 meridians. The boost is not free: forty-nine activations are his current limit, his face and energy show severe strain, and the subsequent attack leaves him pale, bleeding, and greatly weakened. (Chapters 985–986)

Immortal Arrow Nine Suns Destruction

Nine sun-shaped Immortal souls appear behind Taiyang Zi while the amplified meridian power forms a golden bow and arrow. The nine suns rush the target and detonate, masking or reinforcing the arrow that follows through the blast. Taiyang Zi can also superimpose the suns into one larger projectile during a coordinated attack. The technique concentrates nearly everything he has into a short sequence, but its drain is extreme and a vastly stronger opponent can break the arrow or sun directly. (Chapters 985–987)

Self-detonation

After exhausting all normal techniques and items in the final war, Taiyang Zi detonates his remaining body, soul, and cultivation. The explosion kills the Outsider whose throat he has seized and injures nearby enemies, but is explicitly not enormous enough to destroy the whole surrounding force. It is irreversible and marks his confirmed death, not a reusable combat technique. (Chapter 1386)
