Li Ling'er is the Li Clan Dao Daughter and one of the Ninth Mountain and Sea's premier Chosen.

Biography

The Wider Ninth Mountain and Sea

Li Ling'er arrives on Planet South Heaven as the Li Clan Dao Daughter, already beyond ordinary peak Dao Seeking and able to face Immortal Tribulation. She competes for the Immortal Ancient Dao Medallion with the other great clans and sects, first attacking Meng Hao with a willow leaf that turns from abundant life to death and becomes a net of black sealing veins. She later confronts him alone, using the World Tree, a Dharma Clone, and a magical bottle. Her strongest World Tree strike forces Meng Hao to answer with a sunstone, but the instant-long suppression of the Eighth Demon Sealing Hex and repeated Lightning Cauldron exchanges break her rhythm. He seals her cultivation and takes her captive, transforming what began as disdain for a local cultivator into a lasting personal rivalry. (Chapters 806–824)

In the Three Great Daoist Societies' arena, Li Ling'er faces Meng Hao again while he is disguised as Fang Mu. She recognizes the same relentless fighting style without proving his identity. Her World Tree is stronger than in their first battle, and a pearl sustains her cultivation while the tree consumes power, but Meng Hao counters it with a spear made from the real World Tree. After losing to him she wins three of four lower-bracket matches, defeats Fan Dong'er, and reaches the semifinals. The result confirms her position among the leading Chosen even though she again fails to overcome Meng Hao. (Chapters 861–878)

At Planet East Victory she joins the East Ascension Sun gathering and climbs into the upper group of Chosen, using its violet light to temper her body. The event also exposes physical limits: as the heat increases, the leading cultivators require treasures or exceptional bodies to continue. She subsequently opens ninety-six meridians at the Door of Immortality, becoming a true Immortal with a foundation equal in number to Fan Dong'er's. When Meng Hao reveals unprecedented true-Immortal power, however, the old hierarchy among Chosen collapses around him. (Chapters 924–935 and 961–984)

Nine Seas and the Windswept Realm

Li Ling'er is nearly killed in the Ruins of Immortality and is rescued by Meng Hao, who releases her from the debt he had forced upon her and escorts her out on the black beetles. Their conversation remains antagonistic, but his rescue complicates the simpler relationship of victor and captive. When Paragon Sea Dream appears, she notices something in Li Ling'er's appearance and offers to take her as a disciple. Li Ling'er accepts and leaves the Li Clan's normal training path for direct instruction under one of the Mountain and Sea Realm's supreme experts. (Chapters 1018–1035)

After training, Li Ling'er appears more refined, with an aura that makes even Echelon cultivators bow to her as Sea Dream's representative. She carries the Paragon's orders after the Windswept Realm conflict and tries to stop Meng Hao from provoking her master, revealing both loyalty to Sea Dream and concern that Meng Hao will get himself killed. Meng Clan and the Mountain and Sea War

When the 33 Heavens invade, Li Ling'er joins the Mountain and Sea cultivators rather than treating the conflict as another clan contest. She is present through the arrival of the Outsider Paragons and the realm's collapse, survives within the Mountain and Sea Butterfly, and grows old while waiting for the absent Meng Hao. The war strips away the institutional world in which being a Dao Daughter defined her, leaving her one of the surviving witnesses to the destroyed realm. Vast Expanse and Transcendence

Allheaven uses Li Ling'er's likeness among the soul-projections surrounding Meng Hao, but the constructed actor is destroyed when he rejects the false reality and is not the real Li Ling'er. (Chapters 1509–1510)

The surviving Li Ling'er later appears with the Mountain and Sea cultivators mobilized for revenge. Now an old woman, she reunites with Meng Hao and joins the assault upon the 33 Heavens. Beyond Allheaven

Li Ling'er greets Meng Hao and Xu Qing during the restored realm's peace and is later reunited with Paragon Sea Dream when those lost to the war return. After Allheaven's curse and the restoration of reincarnation, Meng Hao finds her new life as the sole Legacy disciple of a powerful sect. The position echoes her old status without making the reincarnated Li Ling'er remember the complete cultivation of her former life. (Chapters 1560, 1588, and 1611–1612)

Appearance and personality

Li Ling'er is an exceptionally beautiful woman marked by a willow leaf on her forehead. Her initial bearing is icy and aristocratic, reflecting both confidence in her cultivation and the Li Clan's status. That pride makes Meng Hao's crude provocations and repeated transpositions especially infuriating, yet it does not reduce her to humiliation: she studies his methods, returns to the arena, and fights her way from the lower bracket into the semifinals after losing to him.

Her conduct toward the Li Clan differs from the contempt she first shows South Heaven cultivators. When seen teaching clan members, she is patient, selfless, and treated as an incorruptible celestial figure. Later, as Sea Dream's disciple, she becomes more composed and carries orders with authority. She still argues with Meng Hao, but she also intercedes when his anger puts him at risk, showing that rivalry, gratitude, and concern coexist.

At introduction, Li Ling'er's cultivation exceeds ordinary peak Dao Seeking and can trigger Immortal Tribulation at any time. Before ascending, her combat power is described as roughly fifty percent of a true Immortal's, sufficient to pressure the best cultivators of her generation but not to match Meng Hao's perfected foundation. She later opens ninety-six Immortal meridians, giving her a high-grade true-Immortal foundation. World Tree

Li Ling'er's defining manifestation is an ancient, pitch-black tree with emerald leaves and a vine resembling a flood dragon. Its branches multiply into binding or striking vines, while its leaves can block heavy physical attacks. She can separate a vine into a flood-dragon form to tear open space and force an opponent away, and she can field a Dharma Clone so the tree-based offense continues while the clone handles a second enemy. Her finishing form detonates the manifested tree. A sequence of heartbeat-like impacts collapses its years of growth into a three-hundred-meter log filled with deathly pressure, which then passes through her and launches at the target. The transformation consumes enough cultivation that, in the arena, she uses a rotating pearl to sustain her output. The art is powerful rather than absolute: Meng Hao first counters it with a sunstone, then later uses a spear made from the real World Tree to shatter the illusory log. The pearl can break to push Li Ling'er away from a lethal follow-up, but doing so spends the treasure. (Chapters 821 and 873)

Willow life-and-death seal

The willow mark on Li Ling'er's forehead can produce a leaf saturated with life force. At the peak of that life, the leaf reverses into death, turns black, and explodes into a web of black veins that descends over the target. The sequence makes the technique a sealing art built on the transition between growth and decay. It can constrain an opponent who remains inside the net, but Meng Hao escapes by transforming before the veins close. (Chapter 813)

Magical bottle and Dharma Clone

Li Ling'er can condense emerald light into a magical bottle that opposes devouring or corrosive techniques such as the Blood Demon Grand Magic. She also manifests a Dharma Clone independently capable of fighting Meng Hao's second true self. These tools let her divide an enemy's attention and defend while the World Tree prepares a larger attack. Against Meng Hao, repeated spatial exchanges interrupt her activation timing, showing that the combination still depends on maintaining control of the battle's rhythm. (Chapter 821)

Paragon Sea Dream's instruction

Sea Dream personally accepts Li Ling'er after sensing an unexplained resemblance and trains her in the Ruins of Immortality. By her next appearance, Li Ling'er's aura has shed much of its mortal quality, and Echelon cultivators treat her as the Paragon's authorized messenger.
