Red-faced Cold Wind Patriarch
Red-faced Cold Wind Patriarch is an unnamed Core Formation elder who joins the four-sect expedition into Patriarch Reliance’s meditation zone. He poisons Meng Hao to enforce cooperation, protects Liu Daoyun for the sake of sect authority, and is ultimately absorbed as fuel for Patriarch Reliance’s demonic lamps.
Biography
Coercing the guide
The patriarch arrives with Cold Wind Sect experts after the State of Zhao sects identify Meng Hao as the person capable of opening Patriarch Reliance’s sealed zone. When Meng Hao demands Liu Daoyun’s death as a condition of cooperation, the red-faced elder refuses to surrender a junior before rival factions. The refusal protects institutional face as much as Liu personally. (Chapters 77–78)
To prevent escape or betrayal, each faction forces a different poison on Meng Hao. The Cold Wind patriarch contributes a reddish pill while the group retains the antidotes. The arrangement converts Meng Hao from negotiator into captive guide, but also creates mutual dependence: once inside, the patriarch cannot simply kill the only person who understands the opening method. Failed protection of Liu Daoyun
At the Reliance Sect, Meng Hao attacks Liu despite the refusal. The red-faced patriarch tries to intervene, but Lord Revelation blocks him and preserves the agreed contest. After Liu’s death, the balance among the assembled Core Formation factions forces the elder to give Meng Hao the antidote for the Frigid Corpse Pill. He complies outwardly while privately deciding Meng Hao must die once the expedition no longer needs him. (Chapters 79–80)
Fuel for the demonic lamps
The expedition expects a weakened patriarch and instead releases a restored Patriarch Reliance. When the trap closes, the red-faced elder abandons plans for revenge and tries to flee. Reliance fuses with and consumes his body, extracts the three-colored mixed Core, and uses its cultivation as fuel for the second demonic lamp. The same realm advantage that made the elder overwhelming to a Qi Condensation captive proves meaningless before the ancient sect founder. (Chapter 82)
Appearance and personality
He is an old man with a conspicuously red face and a long black robe. He is proud, irritable, and highly sensitive to how the Cold Wind Sect appears before rivals. He can yield when every other faction pressures him, but treats compromise as temporary and preserves a private intent to retaliate.
Abilities and cultivation
Three-colored mixed Core
The elder’s Core Formation cultivation is centered on a Core containing three colors. A mixed Core provides decisive realm pressure over Qi Condensation cultivators but is not presented as a flawless or top-tier Core. Patriarch Reliance can remove and burn it as a concentrated source of cultivation energy.
Core Formation pressure
His realm allows flight, spiritual pressure, and intervention in battles far above Meng Hao’s early cultivation. Lord Revelation can block him casually, and Reliance absorbs him outright, establishing the sharp limits imposed by higher realms.
Poison coercion
The reddish pill is one component of a four-poison safeguard placed in Meng Hao. Its isolated symptoms and antidote are not fully identified. The Frigid Corpse Pill antidote he later hands over may correspond to Cold Wind methods, but the source does not justify equating every poison in the expedition.
Sect command
As a patriarch, he directs Cold Wind experts and claims authority to protect a junior. That command operates only while factional balance supports it; when Lord Revelation and other patriarchs insist on the duel’s result, he cannot impose his preference.
