Copper Mirror Basilisk

The Copper Mirror Basilisk is an ancient peak 9-Essences lizard of such scale that its back is mistaken for a land mass and supports a holy world populated by its descendants. A copper mirror shard embedded inside its body draws Meng Hao into battle with it; after Meng Hao's Transcendence makes further resistance impossible, the basilisk becomes his mount under a thousand-year agreement.

Biography

The living land mass

The basilisk sleeps inside a vast vortex containing three apparent land masses occupied by lizard cultivators. The central land is actually the creature's back. Its descendants treat the living world as holy ground and do not understand Meng Hao's arrival as an intrusion into the body of their ancestor until he begins searching for the mirror shard. (Chapter 1477)

Meng Hao's connection to the copper mirror tells him that a missing fragment is lodged deep within the basilisk. He sends his true self into the living world while maintaining the wider confrontation through his cultivation. The basilisk awakens and opposes the extraction with peak 9-Essences power and the overwhelming physical scale of its body. Meng Hao cannot simply kill it and search the remains without endangering the world and descendants upon it, so the conflict becomes a focused seizure of the shard. (Chapters 1477–1499)

Meng Hao succeeds in reclaiming the fragment without destroying the basilisk. Their confrontation leaves the ancient creature alive and resentful, and Meng Hao promises that he will return after completing his own path. When the Ninth Hex is completed and the starry sky trembles, the basilisk can sense that the cultivator who robbed it has crossed into a state beyond the realm they shared. (Chapters 1499 and 1525)

Submission after Transcendence

Meng Hao returns after fully Transcending. The basilisk initially threatens him from habit and pride, but the difference in their existences becomes immediately obvious. A peak 9-Essences body that once made it a world-level opponent can no longer provide meaningful resistance. It abandons hostility, attempts extravagant flattery, and receives comic instruction in ingratiation from the meat jelly. (Chapters 1540–1543)

Meng Hao offers a defined service rather than demanding endless enslavement: the basilisk will follow him for one thousand years. It accepts and carries him at the front of the forces assembled from the Vast Expanse School. Its arrival as a mount gives the returning army both transportation and a visible peak 9-Essences deterrent as it travels toward the Mountain and Sea Butterfly and the war against the 33 Heavens. Appearance and personality

The basilisk is a gargantuan, ancient lizard whose head and body dwarf normal worlds. Its back is broad enough to support terrain, settlements, and generations of lizard descendants. To ordinary observers, the creature is not immediately recognizable as a living animal because its sleeping body has become geography.

It is proud, irritable, and initially territorial. It also has an intensely practical survival instinct: once Meng Hao Transcends, it discards threats before pride turns into suicide. Its clumsy flattery and willingness to learn from the meat jelly provide comedy, but the underlying decision is rational recognition of an irreversible power gap.

Abilities and cultivation

• Peak 9-Essences cultivation: The basilisk stands at the highest level beneath Transcendence and can threaten ordinary Paragons through aura and presence alone. This realm allows it to contend with Meng Hao before his final breakthrough, but offers no effective defense against a true Transcendor.
• World-sized true body: Its physical form functions as a living land mass. The scale grants enormous durability and carrying capacity, but also binds its descendants and holy world to its safety; injury to the body can endanger everything living upon it.
• Living-world concealment: Sleep and scale allow its back to pass as the central land mass in a three-world vortex. This is partly natural camouflage rather than a named illusion technique.
• Ancient endurance: It survives Meng Hao's forced extraction of the mirror shard and remains powerful enough to serve in the later campaign. Meng Hao wins the objective without needing to exterminate it.
• Inter-world transport: As Meng Hao's mount, it carries him and accompanies a large army through the Vast Expanse. The source demonstrates travel at military scale, not a distinct teleportation art.
• Transcendent-pressure perception: It senses the change caused by the Ninth Hex and instantly recognizes Meng Hao's superior state on his return. This awareness guides surrender but does not let it reproduce Transcendence.

Relationships

• Meng Hao: First an invader who extracts the shard from its body, later a Transcendent master whom it agrees to serve for one thousand years.
• Parrot and Meat Jelly: Meng Hao's companions during the return. The meat jelly enthusiastically coaches the basilisk's attempted flattery.
• Lizard descendants: The population inhabiting its back and treating it as a holy world. Their existence helps explain why the confrontation is resolved without destruction of the basilisk.
• Vast Expanse School forces: The army it transports and leads visibly during Meng Hao's return toward the Mountain and Sea survivors.

• Copper mirror shard: A fragment of Meng Hao's copper mirror was embedded inside the basilisk, making the creature's living world one stop in his search. Meng Hao removes it before Transcendence; it is not the basilisk's voluntary weapon or later possession.
