Black Bat is a wounded but powerful Greenwood Bat King who abandons Mo Fang after recognizing Meng Hao's call. Although it submits after Meng Hao heals it, it later escapes, takes human form, and frames him for Huyan Qing's murder.

Biography

Submission after healing

The Black Bat first belongs to Mo Fang but responds when Meng Hao calls the surrounding neo-demons. It resists only briefly before abandoning its former handler and joining the stronger Demon Sealer. The apparent opportunism has a physical cause as well as a hierarchy of power: a wooden sword remains embedded in its body, suppressing what would otherwise be early Core Formation cultivation. (Chapters 404–405)

Meng Hao removes the sword and heals the injury. The Bat's strength returns, and it signals submission while standing as a second neo-demon King beside Big Hairy. The relationship is transactional from the Bat's side. Healing and stronger leadership win obedience, but the source never shows the deep pack attachment that binds the wolves to Meng Hao. (Chapters 405–406)

Bat King in the horde

The Black Bat leads Meng Hao's Greenwood Bats on hunts, watches rival beasts, and joins the horde in tribal conflict. Its kingly pressure and Core Formation power make it a counterpart to Big Hairy, while its bat swarm provides aerial reach the wolf pack lacks. Against Mo Zi's horde and later enemies it blocks escape, charges with the wolves, and follows Meng Hao's large-scale commands. (Chapters 411–421)

In larger battles, the Bat becomes a wing in the horde's enormous combined neo-demon body. Its eyes turn blood-red and its strange aura strengthens as the formation fights. The ability depends on coordination with Big Hairy and the rest of the horde rather than an autonomous giant form the Bat can reproduce alone. Meng Hao remains outwardly indifferent to it, reflecting his awareness that submission has not become love. (Chapters 439–445)

Escape, human form, and framing Meng Hao

The Bat disappears before Meng Hao returns to the tribe. After consuming an enemy corpse, it transmogrifies into a black-robed young man and gains a means to move among cultivators in deceptive human form. It murders Huyan Qing while imitating Meng Hao, deliberately creating evidence that will direct Patriarch Huyan's revenge toward its former master. The plan seeks freedom through proxy assassination: if Huyan kills Meng Hao, the Bat no longer needs to fear recapture. (Chapters 477, 519 and 533)

Meng Hao discovers the betrayal and pursues it toward a teleportation rift. The Bat tries to exploit the rift and the will of a True Spirit, but cannot escape his control of the surrounding situation. Meng Hao destroys its humanoid body and retains the severed bat-like head as evidence that Huyan Qing's murder was a frame. Importantly, the head is not spiritually empty; later events show that the Bat's life or soul remains within it. (Chapters 534–536)

Nine Seas and the Windswept Realm

Much later the surviving Bat reconstitutes or manifests again as a black-robed young man near the Crow Divinity Tribe. Meng Hao recognizes the former follower and crushes the humanoid body, exposing the black bat within. A soulsearch cannot recover useful information, but it reveals a powerful desire to possess Meng Hao rather than mere fear of him. (Chapters 1169–1173)

The Parrot identifies renegade-spirit ancestry somewhere in the Bat's bloodline, connecting it to the incomplete renegade spirit encountered in the Windswept Realm. Meng Hao gives the captured Bat to the Blood Mastiff, which is ravenous for that missing essence. Its final supplied fate is therefore absorption by the Mastiff, not a loyal return to Meng Hao's horde. (Chapter 1173)

Appearance and personality

In beast form it is a large black Greenwood Bat with a kingly aura and, after healing, early Core Formation pressure. Its eyes can glow blood-red in battle. Transmogrification gives it the appearance of a black-robed young man, while destruction of that disguise exposes either the bat body or a bat-like severed head. (Chapters 404–406, 442–445, 519, 536 and 1170)

It is proud, predatory, cunning, opportunistic, and treacherous. Submission lasts only while Meng Hao's strength and healing make obedience advantageous. Its decision to murder Huyan Qing through a disguise shows long planning and willingness to weaponize another person's grief. The later desire to possess Meng Hao and renegade bloodline suggest deeper motives, but the failed soulsearch leaves their full mechanism unknown. (Chapters 404–536 and 1169–1173)

Abilities and cultivation

Suppressed Core Formation cultivation

Removing the embedded wooden sword restores the Bat to early Core Formation power. The weapon's presence demonstrates that its realm can be physically suppressed by a sufficiently potent object; healing removes the restriction but does not create the underlying cultivation. (Chapters 404–406)

Bat King and swarm command

It directs Greenwood Bats in hunting and combat, supplies aerial reconnaissance and encirclement, and exerts kingly pressure over lesser bats. Leadership of the swarm does not translate into control over Meng Hao's wolves or other independent kings. (Chapters 411–421)

Combined neo-demon formation

The Bat can become a wing of the horde's giant composite body and intensify a strange blood-red aura. The form requires Meng Hao's wider beast formation, making it an interaction-derived capability rather than a solitary transformation. (Chapters 439–445)

Corpse-fed transmogrification

After consuming an enemy corpse, it takes the form of a black-robed youth and can imitate Meng Hao closely enough to frame him for murder. The disguise changes appearance and social mobility; it does not reproduce Meng Hao's full cultivation or prevent him from recognizing and crushing it later. (Chapters 519, 533–536 and 1169–1170)

Surviving essence and possession impulse

Destruction of the humanoid body and preservation as a head do not fully erase the Bat. It later carries a powerful wish to possess Meng Hao and traces of renegade-spirit ancestry. Soulsearch fails to expose useful memories, so the exact survival and possession mechanics remain unresolved. (Chapters 536 and 1169–1173)
