Huyan Qing is Patriarch Huyan's only son, whose abuse of inherited protection creates the circumstances in which the Black Bat can frame Meng Hao for his death.

Biography

Entitlement on the Violet Sea

Huyan Qing travels with seven Nascent Soul guards while pursuing women and investigating Miracle Lightning. His father's Spirit Severing status gives him command medallions, protective treasures, and a retinue stronger than his own early Nascent Soul cultivation. (Chapter 524)

He finds Meng Hao meditating on the Violet Sea and demands the treasure he assumes must be present. Sir Wu recognizes the danger and negotiates a withdrawal, which Meng Hao accepts. Huyan Qing interprets mercy as humiliation and orders the attack renewed, forcing even reluctant guards to obey. (Chapters 529–530)

Mercy and murder

Meng Hao destroys the retinue and studies its Karma links, immediately understanding that killing Patriarch Huyan's son would expose his identity and endanger the Golden Crow Clan. Huyan Qing trembles as inherited protection proves unable to win the fight. Meng Hao deliberately lets him leave. (Chapter 531)

For a brief moment, Huyan Qing resolves to change his conduct. The human-form Black Bat then appears wearing Meng Hao's face and kills him, using the surviving Karma and witnesses to direct Patriarch Huyan's vengeance toward Meng Hao. Huyan Qing dies after being spared, not by Meng Hao's hand. (Chapter 532)

Appearance and personality

He is a middle-aged man whose rank has made him despotic, impulsive, and unused to consequences. His regret after losing the guards appears sincere but too late to test whether it would become lasting reform.

Abilities and cultivation

Early Nascent Soul cultivation

Huyan Qing has genuine early Nascent Soul power, but no named personal technique is demonstrated. Against Meng Hao, status and attendants matter more than his own battle ability.

Inherited protection

His father's treasures and command medallion provide life-saving defenses and connect him to powerful Karma. They deter rational enemies through the threat of retaliation, but cannot protect him from a killer deliberately exploiting that connection.

Retinue command

Seven Nascent Soul experts travel under his orders. This gives overwhelming force against ordinary cultivators, yet his insistence on overriding Sir Wu's truce converts protection into casualties.
