Carmine
Carmine is a Demon Princess of Nephrite whose mana pathways were crippled by a failed assassination. Wolfe’s repair and the third Pentacle carry her through an extraordinary compressed recovery, after which she becomes Nimue’s principal caretaker, a politically adept household adviser, and an intelligence specialist within the emerging Noxus government.
Biography
Repair and the third Pentacle
Carmine enters the alliance as King David’s daughter and a proposed marriage partner, but her immediate problem is survival and lost potential rather than romance. A magic-negating poison has scarred her mana pathways and held her below Rank Two. Wolfe repairs the damage across repeated treatments, allowing her to enter a Pentacle with Nimue, Risa, Millie, and Chloe and endure a compressed surge from near Rank Two through Rank Five. (Chapters 657–671 and 688)
Forest Grove caretaker and operative
After relocating to Forest Grove, Carmine’s competence becomes clearer than her initial presentation suggested. She is an accomplished spymaster, understands royal politics, and helps manage the magical and practical questions created by the Demon delegation. She also becomes Nimue’s usual caretaker and cuddle companion, protecting a powerful but genuinely young half-Dryad without treating the child’s rank as emotional maturity. (Chapters 685–719, 815, 820–821, and 992)
Saint adviser and castle law
Carmine reaches Saint/Overlord-equivalent standing with the original Pentacles and assists the Saints during the mountain restoration. At Noxus Castle she interprets noble marriage law, advises on ministries, and is recognized by Dana and Rail as the household’s existing intelligence specialist. Her endpoint combines high personal power with legal, political, and covert expertise; the story does not reduce her to the marriage alliance that first introduced her. (Chapters 1039–1042, 1089–1093, and 1125–1134)
Appearance and personality
Carmine has a bronze-toned face or complexion and the presentation of a Demon princess. Stable late color details are sparse, so her royal identity is better conveyed through poise and formal attire than invented horns, wings, or eye color. Her early frailty reflects poison damage, not her natural stature or temperament. (Chapters 657–671 and 685)
She is patient, politically literate, covertly observant, and affectionate toward Nimue. Carmine can appear to ignore a discussion while tracking its implications, a habit consistent with her intelligence background. She also understands ritual and law well enough to interrupt a royal wedding before an invalid procedure creates a succession dispute. (Chapters 815–821 and 1125–1134)
Magic, abilities, and limitations
Mana pathways and Pentacle power
The assassination poison suppresses Carmine by damaging the channels that distribute mana through her body. Wolfe’s repairs restore capacity rather than granting a cosmetic boost, and the Demon Pentacle then balances power among five members. Queen Jasmine’s mana drives Carmine through Rank Two, Three, Four, and Five in one Chapter 664 sequence; Chapter 719’s later Rank Five wording is duplicate narration, not a second advancement. (Chapters 663–664, 671, 688, and 719)
Her recovery has limits. She is still strengthening toward Rank Six in the middle arc, but no separate Rank Six breakthrough is shown before the later collective Saint event. The Pentacle can accelerate and balance growth, yet it requires compatible members and immense outside mana; Carmine’s original poisoned state proves that rank potential cannot bypass physically ruined pathways. (Chapters 663–690 and 1039–1042)
Demon magic and high-rank support
Carmine can channel Demon magic at high rank and participate in Pentacle mana exchange, protective workings, and the Saints’ cooperative restoration. The corpus emphasizes her recovery and group role more than a personal spell list, so specific elemental affinities should not be invented. Her Saint/Overlord-equivalent endpoint establishes scale, not universal mastery of every Demon technique. (Chapters 663–719, 1039–1042, and 1089–1093)
Intelligence, law, and care
Carmine’s noncombat strengths include intelligence analysis, royal protocol, marriage law, and administrative advice. She can identify which office needs an informant network, explain legal rituals that outrank family preference, and guide Nimue through daily life. Those abilities depend on knowledge, discretion, and relationships rather than magical compulsion, making them useful even when raw power would be politically counterproductive. (Chapters 815–821 and 1125–1134)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Poison-damaged mana pathways repaired | 663, 671, 688 | Persistent repair restores her capacity to advance; she remains just below Rank Two before the Pentacle surge. |
| Demon Pentacle formed | 663 | Bonds Carmine with Nimue, Risa, Millie, and Chloe. |
| Rank Two → Rank Three → Rank Four → Rank Five | 664 | One continuous, explicitly compressed advancement montage; Chapter 719’s Rank Five phrasing is duplicate narration. |
| Saint/Overlord-equivalent | 1039–1042 | Advances with the original three Pentacles; no separate Rank Six scene is supplied. |
