Plene

Plene is a siren whom Kang Shin encounters as the boss of Windermere's Field Dungeon and later accepts as a tamed companion. Her voice can lure, pacify, exhaust, restore, or strengthen listeners, making her a wide-area support specialist whose songs assist Revival on Earth, underwater, and during the destruction of the demons occupying Luka. (Chapters 101–102, 137, 146, 221–223, 247–249, and 342–343)

Biography

Field Dungeons and Revival

Plene is ordered to kill the Hero in Windermere but refuses because she wants to sing rather than murder humans. She initially fails to understand that enthralled listeners may follow her voice into the water and drown, and she is also vulnerable to other monsters that try to eat her. Shin recognizes that she is not deliberately hostile, names and tames her, and moves her to the Resting Place of Angels. There she can sing to animals without harming clear-minded people and remain safe until her abilities are needed. (Chapters 101–102)

As Shin develops the Tamer subclass, Plene becomes one of his regular companions rather than a defeated boss held by force. She expresses affection for him and explains that she wants him to protect the people he likes, but she is candid about her own limitations: she is weaker than Dark Wing Lotte, strong enemies may resist her voice, and she is not suited to direct defense. Her happiness comes primarily from singing, which makes support and crowd control a more natural role than close combat. (Chapters 114, 133, and 137)

Guardians and World Enemies

Plene's songs become a strategic tool in large operations. She can make nearby ability users drop their weapons and fall asleep, then leave them refreshed, and can alter the melody to produce different status effects. In the Philippines, her singing combines with Shin's Evil Eyes during a rapid monster-clearing campaign; lesser enemies succumb across a vast area, while stronger monsters that resist the song must be found and killed separately. The operation demonstrates both her exceptional range and the resistance-based limit that prevents her voice from deciding every battle by itself. (Chapters 146 and 221–223)

Against the Hermit King underwater, Plene cannot escape or withstand the enemy alone and must be protected inside Ruyue's air bubble. She nevertheless maintains Song of Blessing, greatly improving her allies' speed and magic resistance, reducing the chance of receiving critical blows, and increasing their own critical attacks. Her silvery voice also calms Shin and restores his fighting focus. The battle defines her mature function in Revival: physically fragile and vulnerable when targeted, but able to alter an entire party's performance while others keep her safe. (Chapters 244, 247–249, and 252)

Final Wave and the Dungeon's End

Shin brings Plene to the occupied Luka continent and tells her to sing in order to attract its demons. By lending the charm of his Evil Eyes to her voice, he expands the effect across the continent; the enthralled demons converge on the song and are destroyed through his mirror-based attack. Plene is astonished by the scale and does not independently control the lethal part of the plan, but her voice supplies the lure that makes the mass elimination possible. She remains alive and active as Shin's tamed companion after the operation. (Chapters 342–343)

Appearance and personality

Plene has a cute, humanlike appearance, very large clear eyes that sparkle like stars, and extremely light clothing suited to a siren encountered in the water. The supplied corpus does not establish a dependable hair color or a separate monstrous transformation. Her visual presentation emphasizes apparent innocence and softness, which contrasts with the overwhelming compulsion her voice can exert on an unprepared crowd. (Chapters 101–102)

She is cheerful, affectionate, innocent, and devoted to singing. Plene does not want to kill humans and is upset when she realizes that her enchanted listeners can come to harm, yet her unfamiliarity with ordinary human consequences sometimes makes her seem naive about violence around her. She readily follows Shin's direction, enjoys being useful, and supports companions through music even when danger frightens her. Her contentment with a supporting role is genuine rather than a lack of courage or loyalty. (Chapters 101–102, 137, 223, 247, and 343)

Powers and abilities

Siren song and mental influence

Plene's natural siren voice applies mental and status effects to listeners over a wide area. Depending on the melody, it can irresistibly lure susceptible targets, make fighters set down weapons and sleep, soothe mental strain, or impose other debilitating conditions. Listeners who sleep under one song awaken with fatigue relieved. The effect is not automatically selective, so uncontrolled humans can endanger themselves while following it, and beings with sufficient power or resistance can withstand the compulsion. Plene therefore performs most safely in controlled spaces or under Shin's tactical direction. (Chapters 101–102, 137, 146, and 221–223)

Song of Blessing

Song of Blessing is Plene's principal party-support performance. At close range it markedly increases allies' movement speed and magic resistance, lowers the likelihood that incoming attacks become critical hits, and raises the likelihood of critical attacks against enemies. Her voice also steadies Shin's mind and fills him with renewed strength. Maintaining the song does not make Plene durable: during the Hermit King battle she needs Ruyue's air bubble and the party's protection, and an enemy that reaches her can interrupt or kill the singer despite the benefits she provides. (Chapters 247–249)

Amplification and combined effects

A short black magical rod can amplify Plene's voice across a county-scale area, while Shin can lend the charm of his Evil Eyes to extend and strengthen its attraction. These combinations allow her song to support continental monster-clearing and lure demons across Luka, but the additional reach or charm comes from an external tool or Shin's power rather than Plene alone. Wide range also magnifies the risk to unintended listeners, and high-tier enemies may still resist unless the added charm or a separate attack overcomes them. (Chapters 222, 245, and 342–343)

Relationships

  • Kang Shin: Shin spares, names, and tames Plene after recognizing that she does not intend to kill people. He provides a safe home, protects her in dangerous operations, and combines Evil Eyes with her singing when its natural charm is insufficient. Plene responds with affection, trust, and a desire to help the people he values. (Chapters 101–102, 137, 221–223, and 342–343)
  • Loretta: Loretta helps receive Plene into the Resting Place of Angels, where the siren can sing without endangering ordinary humans. That refuge lets Plene remain herself while becoming part of Shin's wider circle rather than being treated as a monster that must be killed. (Chapter 102)
  • Dark Wing Lotte: Plene compares her own combat ability unfavorably with Lotte's and recognizes that the wyvern is far better suited to direct battle and protection. Both nevertheless serve Shin as tamed companions with different specialties. (Chapter 137)
  • Ruyue: Ruyue protects Plene underwater by enclosing her in an air bubble during the Hermit King battle. That protection allows Plene to maintain Song of Blessing for the party despite her inability to survive the environment or the guardian's attacks unaided. (Chapters 247–249)

Items

Plene uses a short black rod that functions as a magical voice amplifier, spreading her song across a much larger region than unaided performance. The corpus does not give the tool a stable canonical name or establish it as an independently cataloged personal artifact, so it is described here without an item-page link. (Chapter 245)
