Gu Site
Gu Site is the Lion King, WanShou emperor, and father of Gu Yingbing whose attempt to secure his son's marriage and Heavenly Snow Mountain succession ends in disgrace. A High-Level Heavenly Emperor with Fire, Divine, and Spirit Attributes, he is powerful enough to lead one of WanShou's two dominant tribes but too proud to accept being outmaneuvered by Zhou Weiqing. Breaking a sealed duel's rules costs Gu Site both the throne and the Lion King title. He later remains at Heavenly Snow Mountain as a subordinate commander and fights beside the same Tiger faction he spent his reign opposing.
Biography
A wedding meant to elevate the Lion Tribe
Gu enters the planned marriage between his son and Tian'er as both father and emperor. Gu Yingbing has agreed to surrender the WanShou crown in exchange for becoming Xue Ao'tian's son-in-law and eventual successor; that bargain would place the formal throne with the Tiger Tribe while raising the Lion bloodline above it through control of Heavenly Snow Mountain. Gu supports the transition enthusiastically, sending two hundred lion disciples to manage the wedding gathering and giving visiting tribe leaders the impression that his people are already becoming masters of the mountain. Protecting his son's future and expanding Lion authority are therefore inseparable pressures when Long Shiya arrives to stop the marriage. (Chapter 172)
Gu answers Long's intrusion with personal insult and immediate confrontation. His fiery pride does not prevent tactical caution—he recognizes Long's reputation and releases all nine pieces of his Legendary Set when their first exchange exposes the gap between them—but his High-Level Heavenly Emperor cultivation is comprehensively suppressed. Long breaks through his Fire and Divine power, knocks him off the mountain, and would have inflicted a severe final wound if Xue had not intervened. Gu returns physically intact but unwilling to accept the humiliation, insisting that unrevealed techniques might have changed a less restricted fight. The loss sharpens his hostility toward Zhou once Long reveals the young rival whose claim threatens the marriage. (Chapters 172–173)
Gu watches the first of Xue's three tests increasingly aware that Zhou is not an ordinary six-Jeweled challenger. Zhou's transformed bloodline and ability to pressure high-ranked Heavenly Beasts make Gu see him as a future strategic danger precisely because the youth cannot be controlled by the Lion faction. Although Gu does not challenge the clear result when Zhou outlasts his son, the contest transforms his initial political confidence into fear that Gu Yingbing can genuinely lose the succession arranged for him. (Chapters 174–178)
A restricted duel becomes a royal disgrace
The second trial assigns Gu, sealed to eight-Jewel Heavenly Energy and forbidden Consolidated Equipment, to fight Zhou while Long faces Gu Yingbing at nine Jewels. Gu accepts almost instantly. He trusts his superior Stored Skills, decades of combat experience, and two-Jewel advantage, and expects his son to withstand Long long enough for him to finish the weaker opponent. That confidence becomes the mechanism of his failure. Zhou repeatedly exploits Gu's assumptions, neutralizes his defenses through Heavenly Skill Image clashes, uses deceptive hammers to injure him, and traps him inside Divine Guardian Angel before sealing his Stored Skills. Gu eventually realizes that Zhou could threaten even his son at full power. (Chapters 178–180)
Faced with losing under the imposed limit, Gu abandons the rules. He breaks Xue's seal, restores his Heavenly Emperor cultivation, and releases the Earth Spirit Heart Flame with the explicit intention of killing Zhou. The decision comes from wounded royal pride as much as paternal protection: he cannot endure defeat by a six-Jewel junior and assumes that Xue will protect Gu Yingbing from Long's retaliation. Zhou's fire immunity makes the supposedly fatal attack harmless to his body, while Long answers by smashing Gu through the mountain and leaving him with a shattered arm, a collapsed chest, and severe internal injuries. Xue declares the wedding contest over, orders Gu Yingbing to replace his father as king within a month, strips the family of the Heavenly Snow Mountain succession, and later removes Gu Site's Lion King position as well. Gu's attempt to secure both marriage and mountain authority thus produces the opposite result. (Chapters 180–182)
Gu Yingbing assumes part of the moral cost that his father cannot undo, tearing off his own arm to win an honest final trial. The son loses Tian'er anyway and escorts his wounded father away. Later, Zhou suspects that Gu Site may have arranged an assassination attempt against him out of hatred, but the corpus presents that only as Zhou's inference among competing possibilities; it never confirms Gu's responsibility. His established offense remains the rule-breaking attack on Heavenly Snow Mountain. (Chapters 181–182, 198)
Service after the crown
Two years later, Gu lives on Heavenly Snow Mountain with disheveled hair and a noticeably tamed temper. His son now governs the Leontropes and WanShou, while Gu addresses Xue respectfully and carries out logistical work for the coming Grand Tournament of Saint Lands. He evacuates WanShou's Heavenly Beasts to the outskirts, stations the Beastmaster Armies below the mountain, and reports the assembly of every tribal Heavenly King and Heavenly Emperor. When Xue forbids independent action or scouting, Gu obeys without objection. The former emperor has not regained his titles, but disgrace has shifted him from an autonomous ruler into a disciplined subordinate helping prepare the realm's defense. (Chapters 801–802)
Gu remains aligned with Heavenly Snow Mountain through the tournament and the war that follows. He rallies behind Xue when the Saint Lands first threaten one another, reacts with genuine dismay when his lifelong Tiger rival Xue Aoying appears doomed, and offers Xue advice during the tournament even when it is rejected. When the Blood Red Hell and Love Valley reveal their alliance, Gu joins a Heavenly Emperor-level Beast Guardian; their combined power approaches the Heavenly God Tier and reinforces Xue's Divine Territory. Numbers, Destruction power, and the enemy's practiced formation still prevent individual strength from deciding the battle, and Gu and the Tiger King are forced into steady retreat while supporting the defensive line. His latest direct state is alive in that battle, serving the mountain rather than ruling it. (Chapters 804, 808, 816, 820, 823)
Appearance and personality
Gu is an old, heavily built man with golden-red hair and a strong, resonant voice. His size resembles the broad build of the Tiger King, while his later appearance is rougher: after living on Heavenly Snow Mountain without his royal office, his hair is described as disheveled and tousled. In combat his lineage becomes visually dominant, producing golden eyes, a golden lion image, a bestial clawed arm, and gold-red or crimson flames. (Chapters 172, 179–180, 801)
His defining trait is a temper compared directly to fire. Gu is arrogant enough to insult Long Shiya while knowing Long's reputation, and status-conscious enough that being pressed by a junior feels intolerable. He is not devoid of judgment—he equips himself quickly against Long, understands the political balance between lions and tigers, and recognizes Zhou as a long-term danger—but anger repeatedly overrides that calculation. The restricted duel exposes the destructive limit of this pride: rather than accept a lawful loss, he risks his life force, his son's future, and conflict with Long to reverse it. (Chapters 172–180)
Disgrace moderates rather than erases him. Gu later follows Xue's orders without protest and performs detailed military preparation despite losing both throne and tribal leadership. His sorrow when the Tiger King seems likely to die, after a lifetime of factional conflict, also shows that rivalry does not cancel loyalty to WanShou or shared membership in Heavenly Snow Mountain. (Chapters 801–808)
Abilities and cultivation
High-Level Heavenly Emperor cultivation
Gu is introduced at the High Level of the Heavenly Emperor Stage and as the strongest member of the Heavenly Divine Earth Spirit Lion Tribe. His Fire control is refined enough that a ruby-red palm contains its heat without warming the surrounding air, and his unarmed clash can concentrate Heavenly Emperor power into a nearly silent exchange. He can fly short distances through raw Heavenly Energy despite lacking the Wind Attribute. The later chapters continue to present him as a Heavenly Emperor and do not establish either advancement to Heavenly God or a decline in cultivation after his injuries. (Chapters 172–173, 820)
Lion bloodline and Saint Attributes
The Heavenly Divine Earth Spirit Lion bloodline gives Gu Fire together with the Divine and Spirit Saint Attributes. He can manifest an enormous gold-red lion image, turn an arm into a golden clawed lion limb, and use his Spirit alignment to resist or return techniques aimed at the mind. Divine energy becomes Golden Saint Flames that strengthen his offense and resistance, while the combination of bloodline, Attributes, and mature Heavenly Energy control lets him exert power well beyond an ordinary practitioner temporarily limited to eight Jewels. Its purity is nevertheless below that of the Divine Heavenly Spirit Tiger lineage, and even his Saint Attributes do not close the cultivation and control gap against Long Shiya. (Chapters 172, 176, 179–180)
Defensive Skills and their restrictions
Gu's Stored defenses include Splendid Bramble Holy Shield, whose Heavenly Skill Image manifests as a mammoth and raises a gold bramble-like barrier, and Divine Guardian Angel, an absolute golden defense. These Skills can stop enormous direct force, but they are vulnerable to a properly timed clash with another Heavenly Skill Image. Divine Guardian Angel imposes an additional restriction: while its barrier is active, Gu cannot move or release another Skill. Zhou exploits that immobility, waits outside the shield, neutralizes it with one image, and applies Dragon Silencing Seal with another before Gu can respond. (Chapter 180)
Gu also projects Divine Claws that tear through Demonic Attribute Heavenly Energy. Their concentrated energy outclasses Zhou's ordinary control at the restricted rank, yet the Dual Legendary Hammers counter them: the claws dissipate against the solid crying-face hammer, while the illusory smiling-face hammer causes Gu to divide his defense and strike empty space. The exchange demonstrates that Gu's superior output remains susceptible to equipment effects he has not identified. (Chapter 180)
Earth Spirit Heart Flame
Earth Spirit Heart Flame is the Personal Core Fire of the Heavenly Divine Earth Spirit Lions and Gu's strongest available attack after his Stored Skills and equipment are sealed. Released from his palm, it forms a gigantic crimson lion of flame and abruptly heats the frozen cavern. Long judges it capable of instantly evaporating even a Heavenly King. That force has a severe cost: summoning it consumes enormous energy and damages Gu's life force and vitality. It also remains purely Fire Attribute. Zhou's Solidified Dragon Spirit grants near-total fire immunity, so the flame disperses his Consolidated Equipment and burns his clothing but fails to injure his body. (Chapter 180)
Legendary Set and Beast Guardian
Gu owns a full nine-piece God Tier Consolidated Legendary Set of crimson armor with a massive heavy bastard sword. The set raises his combat performance from High-Level to approximately Maximum-Level Heavenly Emperor and supports a rotating charge that becomes a fiery tornado. Long's multi-Attribute attacks still dismantle the formation because Gu must spend much more Heavenly Energy answering each changing interaction. In the later Saint Lands war, Gu mounts a Heavenly Emperor-tier Beast Guardian with which he has clearly trained before; merging their strength brings his effective power close to Heavenly God, but a coordinated Destruction formation forces him to fight defensively and retreat. (Chapters 172–173, 820, 823)
Relationships
- Gu Yingbing: Gu builds his political hopes around his son's marriage and prospective succession, then breaks the duel's rules when that future appears lost. Gu Yingbing bears the fallout, replaces him as king and Lion King, sacrifices an arm to obtain the final trial, and still personally escorts his wounded father away.
- Zhou Weiqing: Gu first sees Zhou as an uncontrollable future threat to the Lion faction. Underestimating him in a sealed duel leads to humiliation; Gu's attempt to kill him with full Heavenly Emperor power fails because of fire immunity and becomes the act that destroys Gu's own status.
- Xue Ao'tian: Xue is Gu's sovereign authority through Heavenly Snow Mountain. He saves Gu from Long's first fight, then punishes his breach by transferring the throne and stripping his Lion title. Gu later accepts a subordinate role, obeys Xue's orders, and fights in his defensive formation.
- Long Shiya: Gu's insult begins a one-sided Heavenly Emperor duel that exposes the gap between them. Long later nearly kills him in retaliation for attacking Zhou and declares a mortal enmity that the supplied chapters do not show being personally resolved.
- Tian'er: Her proposed marriage to Gu Yingbing is the mechanism through which Gu expects his family to inherit Heavenly Snow Mountain. He treats Zhou's claim on her as a political and familial threat; after his disgrace, he occasionally looks at her strangely, but the text does not explain that gaze.
- Xue Aoying: Gu and the Tiger King represent rival bloodlines and conflict throughout their lives. Xue initially takes satisfaction in Gu's reversals, yet intervenes to keep Long from killing him; years later Gu reacts sorrowfully when Xue appears doomed and fights beside him against their shared enemy.
Items
- Nine-piece Legendary Set: A complete crimson God Tier Consolidated Equipment set that amplifies Gu's attributes and raises his effective combat level. Its weapon is a massive heavy bastard sword.
