Replica of Poseidon's Trident

The Replica of Poseidon's Trident is an Ancient Weapon made from Old God bones. Its Immortal Slayer property makes it both a prize and a direct threat to Neo Hargraves, shaping his bargain with Elizabeth before the weapon is converted into a risky exoskeleton reinforcement for his body.

History

A concealed bargain

Neo first pursues the trident as Elizabeth's hidden prized possession. He bargains for it while treating its name as a secret that even Amelia de Beaufort is not meant to hear. Elizabeth eventually agrees to transfer it as payment, but warns that it is sealed beneath Mount Columbus and too dangerous to hand over immediately. Neo's priority is not merely gaining a strong weapon: because the trident's Immortal Slayer trait can kill beings like him, he also wants to keep it from anyone who might use it as his countermeasure. (Chapters 10 and 26)

Elizabeth enters the Sarnie Maze beneath Mount Columbus and finds the trident chained in a chamber. It is made of blue ethereal metal and radiates Divine Energy strong enough to destroy weaker demigods who approach it. She claims it, suppresses its rampaging power, and uses it to break through the chamber above the Four Horsemen murals. (Chapter 50)

Transfer to Neo

Elizabeth brings the weapon to the Demigod Academy in a sealing bag but initially withholds it from Neo. After he survives the ranking tournament, she leaves both the sealed trident and Obitus beside him and acknowledges that they belong with him. The bag remains necessary because Neo is not yet strong enough to withstand the trident's pressure directly. (Chapters 72, 75–76)

Neo later carries the sealed weapon home because leaving it unused is itself a risk. Henry Hargraves recognizes what is in the bag and challenges Neo's plan. Neo wants the trident's power despite knowing that its defining trait can kill him, arguing that his Immortality allows him to take a risk that might accelerate his Death Concept. (Chapters 185–187)

Conversion and incorporation

Luna identifies the weapon as one of the replicas called Ancient Weapons and explains that it was forged from multiple Old God bones. Her research team converts it into serum for an exoskeleton procedure rather than asking Neo to wield the intact trident. The operation remains dangerous because the material is an antithesis to an Immortal. (Chapters 188 and 200)

The serum merges with Neo unusually smoothly and reinforces or replaces his bones. The trident no longer survives as a separate weapon after the operation. Its power is sealed because Neo's body cannot withstand all of it; at first he can draw on only five percent of what the incorporated bones provide, with greater access tied to strengthening his body. (Chapters 200–201)

Earlier custody and later revelation

Elizabeth's later history shows that her twin sister originally left both the replica and Amelia in Elizabeth's care while fleeing powerful pursuers. A much later conversation connects the trident's hiding place beneath Mount Columbus to the murals of the Four Horsemen, deepening the reason its custody mattered beyond its immediate combat value. (Chapters 379 and 801)

Properties and use

• Immortal Slayer: The trident can kill Immortal beings and is therefore specifically dangerous to Neo even when other weapons cannot finish him permanently. (Chapters 26, 186–187)
• Old God construction: It is an Ancient Weapon replica made from several Old God bones rather than Poseidon's original divine weapon. (Chapter 188)
• Overwhelming pressure: Unsealed, it releases enough Divine Energy to threaten weaker demigods and is initially unsafe for Neo even to approach. (Chapters 50 and 76)
• Death compatibility: Neo believes the Immortal Slayer trait is compatible with the Death Concept he is constructing, making the danger part of the reason he accepts the surgery. (Chapter 187)
• Material conversion: The weapon can be processed into exoskeleton serum, preserving its underlying material and properties while destroying its separate trident form. (Chapters 188 and 200)
• Sealed growth: After incorporation, most of its power is sealed. Neo can gain greater access as his body becomes capable of enduring the Old God bones. (Chapter 201)
