Olivia von Villiers

Olivia von Villiers is an Exalted Executioner, the wife of Jin von Villiers, and the mother of Leonora von Villiers. She guides the Akashic team into Tartarus, uses Life healing to sustain Elizabeth, and attempts to evacuate the Ninth Grand Expedition during Vlad's betrayal. Her death is followed by an erasure that removes her from most memories and records.

Biography

Mother and guide to Tartarus

Olivia lives with Jin and their daughter Ava in the period before the expedition, and appears among the four Executioners assigned to Tartarus. Despite her youthful face, she carries a composed, maternal authority and takes practical leadership of the journey. She pilots the required dilapidated ship through water magic, creates water slimes to guide passengers, and explains how negative karma and unstable Shift Points allow Tartarus to pull travelers from the Blood Sea. (Chapters 376 and 393–396)

Her mission is to overcome Tartarus's power to trap anyone who enters and bring the group back. Artemis's Blessing supplies Wayfarer, which points toward chosen destinations once they are within the same world. Olivia uses it to locate the hidden barrier and the route toward Kane. The ability is essential navigation rather than omniscience: local countermeasures can deceive it, and the barrier disappears behind the group once they cross. (Chapters 395 and 397–398)

The voyage exposes Olivia's private purpose. She and Jin received a vision of an annihilating future war and allowed Leonora's unexpected death to remain permanent so their daughter could establish herself safely in the Underworld before the dead arrived in billions. They even bribed Grim Reapers to favor her development. Olivia describes the logic but cannot suppress her grief or uncertainty over leaving Leonora in a realm feared even by Exalted demigods. (Chapter 397)

Healing Elizabeth

Within Tartarus, Neo asks Olivia to heal Elizabeth's critical injuries. Olivia has no wish to restore the former Tyrant and doubts Neo's promise to subdue Tartarus, but he offers a way for living and dead to meet if the realm can be joined to the Underworld. The possibility of seeing Leonora makes her accept. Her choice remains calculated: she recognizes Neo could have tried force and questions how the required Holy purification will be achieved. (Chapters 416–417)

Olivia initially prepares to attack when she finds Velkaria in Neo's Shadow Space. She stops only after checking documents signed with Charlotte's Divine Energy and verifying that the Void entity is a registered Shadow Summon. Olivia then uses a Life Concept for hours to repair Elizabeth's body. The treatment stabilizes breathing and appearance, but she warns that the wounds will reopen while Void corruption remains, defining both her achievement and its limit. (Chapter 417)

She continues into the Ninth Grand Expedition beside Nicolas and Percival. Tartarus eventually catches her Consciousness and physical body in different layers of its Nightmare structure. Her Fate of Fortune protects her Fate of Life against the invading Fate of Devouring, but only temporarily, and Percival realizes she cannot reconstruct that Fortune thread if it sacrifices itself. Her survival therefore depends on the group breaking Tartarus rather than her healing alone. (Chapters 418–419 and 457–461)

Evacuation and erasure

During Vlad's betrayal, Olivia turns her water abilities toward evacuation. A water-made duplicate distracts him while her real body moves through the battlefield carrying an orb of dense water and placing people inside it for transport to another Zone or Layer. Vlad discovers the deception and catches her by the neck. Nicolas spends the lives accumulated through his sword to sever Vlad's hand and buy her more time. (Chapter 506)

The rescue is not permanent. Vlad later kills Olivia, and the Sacred Treasure intended to secure escape is destroyed with her. After the Eternals alter the timeline, she is absent not merely from the living world but from photographs, clothes, family memories, and the Akashic account of Tartarus. Jin sincerely says he never had a wife and believes Leonora was created Spell-born from his blood, leaving Neo among the few people who remember that Olivia existed. (Chapters 519 and 536)

The later paradox clarifies the rewritten family. Olivia was a daughter of Supreme of Water. When the Eternals removed her, the displaced relationships pull Leonora into the vacant position, making Leonora both Olivia's former daughter and, in the altered structure, the Water Supreme's daughter. Supreme of Water remembers her true child and retains anger at the Eternals, keeping Olivia's loss distinct from Leonora's new identity. (Chapter 722)

Appearance and personality

Olivia has sea-blue hair that falls over her shoulders like water, a curvaceous figure, and a mature, confident aura. Her resemblance to Leonora is strong enough to make her look like the younger woman's elder sister rather than her mother. That resemblance later contributes to the paradox involving Supreme of Water, but Olivia, Leonora, and the Supreme remain three distinct people with different bodies and actions. (Chapters 393 and 722)

She is graceful, composed, and attentive to other people's distress. Olivia apologizes to defuse Veldora's anger, offers to delay a meeting when Neo is unsettled, and leads the expedition without theatrical authority. Her caution is equally strong: she distrusts Elizabeth and Velkaria, verifies proof repeatedly, and accepts Neo's bargain only after measuring its risk. Her maternal control breaks most visibly when speaking about Leonora, revealing persistent guilt beneath the professional exterior. (Chapters 393–397 and 416–417)

Powers and limitations

Exalted demigod

Olivia is explicitly an Exalted demigod and one of Luminera's strongest. She can withstand a True Name's mental pressure better than weaker companions and qualify for the Grand Expedition, though she is not among its foremost fighters. The novel never assigns her a numbered God Stage, so her rank should not be converted into one merely because later characters compare Demigod and God paths. (Chapters 393, 397, 400, and 419)

Water and Life

Olivia controls water on large and delicate scales. She moves a ship, creates guiding slimes and combat doubles, surrounds herself with droplets and shields, and stores evacuees in a dense water orb for transportation. Her Life Concept can stabilize Elizabeth's otherwise reopening injuries. No formal Apprentice-to-Supreme mastery label is supplied for either element, and the Void corruption remains beyond Life healing without Holy purification. (Chapters 394, 417, and 506)

Artemis's Blessing and Wayfarer

Artemis's Blessing lets Olivia use Wayfarer to locate a named destination within the same world. It directs the group to Tartarus's invisible barrier and remains part of their planned return. The technique can be tricked by someone who understands it, and its user's death destroys the escape plan's Sacred Treasure, leaving surviving allies unable to leave the Layer by that method. Leonora von Villiers

Leonora is Olivia's daughter in the original history. Olivia and Jin let her remain dead because they believe the Underworld will be safer than the coming war, a protective choice that leaves Olivia grief-stricken and desperate for news. After Olivia is erased, Leonora is rewritten into the vacant relationship with Supreme of Water, but the Water Supreme remembers Olivia as her actual daughter and Leonora as Olivia's former child. (Chapters 397, 536, and 722)

Neo Hargraves and Elizabeth

Neo and Olivia begin as wary expedition partners. He offers reunion with Leonora in exchange for healing Elizabeth, and Olivia accepts after challenging the plan's risks. She stabilizes Elizabeth, while Neo later witnesses Olivia's death and preserves her memory through the altered timeline. Their bargain creates genuine cooperation without requiring Olivia to forget Elizabeth's past tyranny or trust every Void power around Neo. (Chapters 393–398, 416–419, 519, and 536)

Nicolas

Nicolas is Olivia's fellow Senator-level Executioner and expedition companion. They guard Percival, discuss whether Neo should be opposed, and enter the Nightmare World together. During Vlad's betrayal, Nicolas sacrifices his accumulated future lives to stop the God from killing Olivia and the evacuees. His intervention delays her death but cannot prevent it, leaving their joint mission broken by the same altered history. (Chapters 393–407, 419, and 506–536)

Items

Olivia carries a Sacred Treasure intended to enable escape from Tartarus, but the novel does not give it a stable canonical name in her scenes. It is destroyed when Vlad kills her. Artemis's Blessing and Wayfarer are granted powers rather than carried items, and the water orb used for evacuation is a magical construct. (Chapters 395, 398, 506, and 519)
