Supreme of Water

The Supreme of Water is the Elemental Supreme governing Water and a powerful sponsor whose help is usually expressed through bargains, possession of a willing vessel, and the appointment of Loved Ones. She guides Nameless Death—Neo Hargraves—through a decisive stage of his Path, treats Leonora as family after a timeline paradox erases her true daughter, and chooses Amelia de Beaufort as her Loved One. Her teasing and coercive bargaining coexist with real instruction, family grief, and a final intervention that saves Amelia at enormous cost. (Chapters 610, 633, 658–660, 722–724, and 740–752)

Biography

The price of a new Path

The Supreme first manifests through Leonora and offers Nameless Death access to a Supreme's help if he will “bear” her lineage through a Blessed. Neo refuses the sexual bargain, while she maintains the possession beyond comfort partly to taunt The Berserker. When Neo later proposes direct access to his developing Path instead, the Supreme withholds her answer until his need becomes urgent. Her behavior is a power play, but it also forces him to continue building rather than depend on an immediate rescue. (Chapters 610 and 633–640)

She finally arrives during the Voraka conflict, contains Berserker, teleports the other combatants away, and gives Neo fifteen thousand years in which his Path can mature. Calling herself his mother-in-law, she admits that receiving his Path would also grant him access to her abilities and therefore substitutes a test: he must defeat Barbatos within the instant between her barrier's collapse and the Eternals detecting the Ashes. The condition is ruthless and personally motivated—she says she does not care about the universe—but it supplies the time and information structure through which Neo reaches his Cosmos on his own terms. Leonora, lost Olivia, and Amelia's bond

Leonora later asks the Supreme to show Amelia the years Neo spent trapped away from her. Their dream conversation reveals the family wound beneath the Supreme's teasing. Olivia von Villiers was her true daughter until the Eternals erased Olivia and timeline paradoxes repositioned Leonora as Olivia's daughter. The Supreme now treats Leonora as her own and extracts the word “Grandma” before agreeing to help. The joke matters because it gives her a fleeting version of the family relation that cosmic interference took from her, even while Leonora remains an independent person rather than Olivia restored. Using Leonora's body, the Supreme crosses the Underworld despite Agares's restrictions and approaches Amelia. She decides that memories alone will not uproot Amelia's self-hatred, so she offers Loved One status in exchange for one future task sealed by an existence vow. The bond lets Amelia draw a portion of her power without ordinary cost and channels growth toward Stage 6. The Supreme also affirms Amelia's unusual talent, directs her toward clues about her missing mother, and gains limited grounds to intervene because a Loved One is now endangered. Her mentorship combines genuine recognition with a task whose nature she deliberately conceals. (Chapters 723–724)

The Ancient Dragons and the cost of intervention

When Ancient Dragons and Laplace attack Amelia's group, the Supreme takes control of Amelia and attacks through her. She recognizes that Berserker's early-Stage-6 vessel cannot safely fight head-on, directs Arthur and Percival to prioritize Felix's body, and withdraws her projected consciousness to bring reinforcements. Through the elementals she calls Neo to help her Loved One, then manifests in her own Blessed's body to guide him. Her urgency is personal but strategically disciplined: she knows which combatants can matter, warns against wasting Singularities too early, and treats rescue as a coordinated problem rather than uncontrolled vengeance. (Chapters 740–745)

The rescue exceeds what Cosmic Law permits. The Supreme reconstructs Amelia from blood after the others fall, apologizes to the Blessed whose body is consumed by the act, and tells Neo that Amelia is the only person she can save. Breaking too many Laws and spending too much power force her into deep sleep, while the dying Blessed calls service in the Supreme's embrace an honor. The sacrifice does not prevent Amelia's despair over the friends left behind, but it proves that Loved One status is not merely an exploitative contract: the Supreme accepts backlash, the loss of a vessel, and dormancy rather than abandon the person she chose. Appearance and personality

When she possesses Leonora, the Supreme resembles her vessel and is distinguished by control, voice, and an overwhelming Water presence. In a separate Blessed she appears with long black hair, luminous blue eyes, an aquatic sheen across her skin, and a dark-blue coat marked by Water runes. Her consciousness can also meet Leonora in dreams as a woman who looks almost identical to her. These are vessels and projected forms, not proof that Leonora, the Blessed, and the Supreme share one identity. (Chapters 610, 722–723, and 745)

She is teasing, petty about rejection, and comfortable using unequal leverage. The same woman is also an exacting mentor and a grief-stricken parent who seeks small family acknowledgments after losing Olivia. She recognizes Amelia's talent beneath self-loathing, restrains reckless allies, and spends herself to preserve one life when she cannot preserve all. Her affection is rarely uncomplicated: it arrives through tests, vows, insults, and strategic pressure, yet culminates in a cost borne by the Supreme herself. Powers and limitations

Supreme authority over Water

As the Elemental Supreme of Water, she commands Water Elementals and can manifest crushing water spheres, teleport targets from a Space-Time Prison, suppress an ancient-dragon bloodline, and channel power through a Blessed. Her authority lets her sense and direct elementals across distant conflicts. “Supreme” is a formal elemental existence reached beyond the ordinary God stages, so the novel does not assign her a Stage-1-to-9 number or an Awakener rank. (Chapters 658–660, 724, 740–745)

Vessels, possession, and Loved Ones

The Supreme acts within the universe through compatible living vessels such as Leonora and her Blessed. A living vessel lets her overcome an Ash-mediated manifestation, but possession strains the body and can end when the connection fails. Loved One status is a deeper existential bond: Amelia can inherit and call upon a portion of the Supreme's power, while the Supreme suffers severe backlash if her Loved One dies and cannot quickly choose a replacement. The bond also grants a narrow justification for intervention that the Cosmic Laws otherwise restrict. (Chapters 610, 658, 723–724, and 740–741)

Cosmic Law and exhaustion

Her title does not permit unrestricted action. Grim Reaper rules constrain movement through the Underworld, Cosmic Laws limit a Supreme's interference, and major violations demand energy and consequence. Saving Amelia after the Ancient Dragon battle kills the Blessed serving as vessel and forces the Supreme into deep sleep. The act shows enormous restorative capacity but also a hard limit: she explicitly saves only Amelia, not every fallen member of the group. (Chapters 723–724 and 752)

Neo Hargraves

The Supreme bargains with Neo for access to the Path he is creating, buys him millennia to develop it, and designs the final test that makes him prove its value. She calls herself his mother-in-law and later summons him to Amelia's rescue. Their relationship mixes mentorship, strategic sponsorship, and mutual suspicion about the access each gains from the other's power. (Chapters 610, 633, 658–660, and 741–745)

Leonora von Villiers

Leonora serves as a vessel and family figure, but she retains her own awareness and can contest how the Supreme uses her body. The erasure of Olivia twists their genealogy, leaving the Supreme to treat Leonora as daughter and granddaughter without equating her with the lost woman. Leonora's requests move the Supreme to help both Neo and Amelia. (Chapters 610, 633, 722–723)

Amelia de Beaufort

Amelia becomes the Supreme's Loved One after accepting a future-task vow. The Supreme offers strength, affirmation, and a clue to Amelia's mother, then breaks Cosmic Laws to reconstruct her after the Ancient Dragon attack. The bond is unequal and partly secretive, but the rescue makes its reciprocal risk explicit. (Chapters 723–724 and 740–752)

The Berserker

The Supreme and Berserker are ancient antagonists who trade sexual insults and accusations while recognizing one another's power. She rejects his advances in their earlier history, restrains his Ash manifestation in Voraka, and later protects his weaker vessel despite his refusal to accept help from her. (Chapters 610, 658, and 740–741)
