Leonora von Villiers

Leonora von Villiers is a Water demigod, Soul Hunter, and Grim Reaper disciple whose aversion to effort hides unusually high talent. She begins as Team Umbra's reluctant fifth member, dies during the Calamity Window in one history, and later builds an Underworld career under Asmodea. Her spell-born daughter Vivi Hargraves connects her permanently to Neo Hargraves, though the novel explicitly rejects a romantic or biological-parent relationship between the two adults. (Chapters 61, 114, 356–358, 572, 643–647, 709, 713, and 805)

Biography

Team Umbra's reluctant fifth member

Leonora's first academy complication comes from arriving late and receiving a higher tournament token than she expected. She later isolates herself in the mission hall, mutes group messages, skips team activity, and retreats into video games whenever possible. Neo initially dislikes her because his memories of another history color his expectations, yet a shared enthusiasm for games gives them common ground. Team Umbra needs her strength badly enough that Christian repeatedly takes responsibility for getting her to participate. (Chapters 39, 61, 74, 76, 94, and 98)

Once inside the Calamity Window, reluctance does not prevent Leonora from acting. She uses mist and ice defenses beside Arthur against hostile Shadows, and her presence helps establish Team Umbra as the mission's strongest group. The operation still ends with her death after the party's internal conflict and failed defenses. Neo later finds her among the listed casualties and treats Leonora and Christian's loss as evidence of his own failure, making her absence one of the consequences driving his later refusal to remain weak. (Chapters 101–114, 128, 169, and 424)

Soul Hunter, friend, and Asmodea's disciple

The altered history gives Leonora a surviving adulthood. She becomes a successful Soul Hunter and leads a team that includes Gwen, gaining recognition through talent rather than enthusiasm for bureaucracy. When Neo returns to Luminera, she warns him that Gwen sees Kendrick's death as murder and wants revenge. Leonora understands why the anger feels justified, but responds to Neo's distress with sympathy instead of accusation, showing that their earlier forced teamwork has matured into friendship. (Chapters 356–358)

Leonora later enters the Underworld as Asmodea's disciple. Her habits remain recognizable: she looks for writers and a forger who can build a game console, avoids training, and tries to escape the Grim Reaper disciple tournament. Asmodea answers that disciples carry the Monarch's blood and therefore lack the gene bottleneck Leonora uses as an excuse. Their friction masks a parental bond; when Leonora is endangered, Asmodea's guilt is described as that of a mother unable to protect her daughter. (Chapters 572–573, 606–612, and 631)

The Voraka Site and borrowed supremacy

At the Voraka Site, Leonora is still only Stage 2 Awakened when Asmodea volunteers her for a Level 9 threat. Survival depends on calling the Supreme of Water, who can possess Leonora's body and reverse a Water Concept to erase life. Borrowed supremacy makes Leonora capable of confronting enemies far above her own stage, but it inflicts pain, consumes time, and leaves her unconscious when the presence withdraws. The achievement therefore belongs to a blessing and pact rather than proving that Leonora herself has reached a Supreme's rank. (Chapters 608–612, 616, and 658)

Leonora remains with Nameless Death through his research, blacksmithing, and construction of the Womb of Devil. She questions his habit of devouring knowledge, introduces him to consoles, and punctures proposals that ignore ordinary social meaning. Their companionship is practical and familiar: she can support an experiment without pretending that his post-isolation reasoning is normal. That role becomes decisive when he asks for her spell-born magic rather than a conventional relationship. (Chapters 634, 640, and 643–645)

Vivi, separation, and reunion

Leonora uses Spell-born while Nameless Death supplies the conditions for a child to form. He names the girl Vivi Hargraves and accepts responsibility for her; later text clarifies that Vivi is Leonora's Spell Child and Neo's daughter without being their biological child. No romance exists between Leonora and Neo. The unusual family arrangement is still emotionally real to Vivi, who regards both adults as parents and hopes they might live together even when that hope misunderstands their relationship. (Chapters 643–647, 797, and 805)

Leonora's instinct to delegate contributes to a long separation. She sends her cat spirit to help Neo instead of coming herself and does not find Vivi promptly after history changes. In the True Blessed Lands, Vivi cries in her arms and then scolds her for the absence. Henry subsequently recruits Leonora into his Sector, where her work improves its results and distributes new material such as a newspaper. Reunion restores contact but does not erase that Leonora's habitual avoidance can wound people who depend on her. (Chapters 714, 797, 805, and 826)

Appearance and personality

Leonora is introduced as a young woman who prefers secluded corners, headphones, a handheld console, and a magically made bean bag to social attention. Her combat imagery centers on water, mist, and ice rather than a fixed weapon. When the Supreme of Water uses her body, the same appearance carries an entirely different pressure and manner, so those possession scenes should not be read as Leonora's ordinary demeanor. (Chapters 61, 74, 98, 107, 112, and 658)

She is introverted, blunt, distractible, and spectacularly resistant to work she considers pointless. That laziness is neither cowardice nor lack of perception. Leonora notices emotional strain, accepts danger when friends need her, and can speak with practical clarity when Neo's proposals become socially detached. Her later rank and combat record reveal how much ability exists beneath the avoidance, while her failures with Vivi show the real cost of treating relationships like tasks that can be delegated. (Chapters 358, 572–573, 608–612, 643–646, 709, 714, and 826)

Powers and limitations

Water, mist, and ice spells

Leonora creates water-based comforts and fights through chanted Water magic. Her demonstrated techniques include spreading obscuring mist and forming ice armor or defensive structures. These applications support movement, concealment, and protection rather than only direct damage. The supplied chapters do not give formal spell-rank or mastery labels for these individual spells, so their effectiveness should not be converted into an inferred tier. (Chapters 74, 103, 107, and 112)

Her innate identity is Spell-born: Jin states that he created Leonora with his blood rather than through a mother. Leonora later uses a Spell-born spell in the process that produces Vivi. The technique can create genuine family bonds, but it does not make every contributor a biological parent or imply a romantic relationship. (Chapters 536, 643–646, and 805)

Soul Hunter and Grim Reaper training

Leonora's high talent makes her a successful Soul Hunter, after which she becomes Asmodea's Grim Reaper disciple. Grim Reaper disciples carry a droplet of the Monarch's blood that removes the usual bottleneck to advancement. By the later Underworld history Leonora is the current Rank One disciple. This is a competitive office rank, distinct from the numbered Grim Reaper order and from God-existence stages. (Chapters 356–357, 572, and 709)

She is still Stage 2 Awakened at the Voraka Site. Her attempts to avoid breakthroughs are behavioral, not evidence that the disciple path cannot support them. The narrative later demonstrates much stronger combat through the Water blessing without explicitly stating that Leonora's personal Awakener stage advanced, so the public progression preserves Stage 2 as the latest explicit personal stage. (Chapters 572, 608, and 713)

Blessed of Water

Leonora can call on the Supreme of Water, allowing the Supreme to use her body and power. The resulting presence can apply a reversed concept that all life is born from Water and erase a target from existence. The blessing lets Leonora fight Stage 4 Gods without faltering even though she is not herself a God. (Chapters 609–616, 658, and 713)

Possession is neither free nor identity continuity. Leonora experiences severe pain, has limited time, and can collapse unconscious when the borrowed presence ends. Statements and feats performed while the Supreme controls her body belong to that partnership and must be distinguished from Leonora's unassisted abilities. (Chapters 612, 616, 658, and 713)

Relationships

Neo Hargraves

Neo begins with an unfair dislike based on another history, then becomes Leonora's teammate and friend. Their later collaboration creates Vivi through Spell-born magic, but the novel explicitly denies romance and biological coparenthood. Leonora's failure to return promptly strains both that friendship and their unusual family. (Chapters 61, 98, 358, 634–647, 714, and 805)

Vivi Hargraves

Vivi is Leonora's Spell Child and regards her as her mother. Separation leaves Vivi longing for a conventional household and angry that Leonora did not search for her. Their reunion includes affection and reproach, preserving the bond without pretending Leonora's absence had no consequence. (Chapters 646–647, 797, 805, and 826)

Asmodea and the Supreme of Water

Asmodea is Leonora's demanding master and maternal protector, pushing her toward advancement she habitually avoids. The Supreme of Water is a separate being who uses Leonora as a blessed vessel. Both relationships expand Leonora's power, but neither erases her individual agency or identity. (Chapters 572, 606–612, 631, 658, and 713)

Items

Leonora uses ordinary gaming consoles throughout her story and helps Nameless Death understand their construction, but these are not individually named notable artifacts in the finalized item scope. She has no separately listed signature item. (Chapters 61, 98, 572, and 640)
