Kim Yura

Kim Yura is a South Korean Awakened who becomes a Saintess after her sister's apparent death triggers a violent half awakening. She survives the final conflict and remains active three years later, treating the wounded alongside Kim Min-ji. Her defensive holy power, high-priest healing, and contract with the fire spirit Rei make her a central support fighter despite her lack of an innate attack skill.

Biography

Disability, poverty, and her sister's sacrifice

Before awakening, Kim Yura is a mid-teen survivor left paraplegic, badly burned, unable to speak clearly, and dependent on a wheelchair. She knows that her younger sister Kim Min-ji works punishing and degrading jobs to keep them fed, and the knowledge deepens her guilt after earlier suicide attempts. When Roy's warning sends Seoul's population toward the Trees of Life and Death, Min-ji pushes her through the migration despite her own injuries. Their slow movement leaves them exposed when creatures attack, and Min-ji's apparent death while protecting her makes Yura's grief and hatred erupt as uncontrolled holy light. (Chapters 181 and 183–184)

Randalph finds the sisters and recognizes Yura as the Saintess he remembers. Her awakening is incomplete, so the holy power consumes her body instead of stabilizing it. He revives Min-ji and gives Yura a potion mixed with his blood; demonic magic fills the gaps in the half awakening, creating a dependency contract while restoring her nerves, burns, posture, speech, and ability to walk. The rescue saves both sisters, but it also binds Yura to the demon whose identity as both Saviour and Dungeon Master leaves her frightened and conflicted. (Chapters 184–188)

First defense and contract with Rei

After reuniting with Min-ji, Yura leaves Randalph's immediate protection and tries to rebuild their lives. A group of predatory Awakened targets them, forcing her into her first direct fight. Holy Armour prevents ordinary knives from piercing her, but Yura's lack of experience and reluctance to kill let the attackers recover and seize Min-ji as leverage. The crisis proves both the strength and limit of her Saintess role: her defense can withstand the men, yet her emotional dependence on her sister makes her surrender when Min-ji is threatened. (Chapters 191–192)

The fire spirit Rei then speaks into Yura's mind and offers a contract in exchange for defeating the attackers. Yura accepts, allowing Rei to manifest and burn the remaining threat. The partnership supplies the offensive and sensory reach Yura lacks while also making the conspicuous Saintess an example through which more humans can encounter spirits. By the time she joins later operations, Yura refers to Rei as her partner and trusts the spirit's detection enough to warn an entire elite party away from enemies it cannot handle. High priest in the mission carrying Hope

Yura and Min-ji later join Yoo Eun-hye's team as high priests, accompanied by Rei and Sera. Their combined Suture and Regeneration techniques immediately repair severe wounds and even restore amputated limbs without the fatigue normally expected from high-ranked skills. Because they cannot revive someone who dies instantly, however, every ambush still reduces the party. Randalph has sent the sisters specifically to improve the team's chance of carrying Hope through the war zone, and Yura adds Rei's detection to their medical work, repeatedly identifying approaching angels and creatures before human senses can. (Chapters 208–210 and 214–216)

The mission narrows until only Yoo Eun-hye, Edward, Yura, and Min-ji remain with Hope. Yura knows more about the surrounding grand dukes and Randalph's hidden role than she can safely explain, producing visible guilt when the others interpret events differently. She nevertheless stays with the team through the confrontation and continues serving as its healer, making survival and mission completion more important than resolving her fear of the demon who contracted her. Saintess after the war

Three years after the dungeon's transformation, Yura and Min-ji are still active together and are publicly praised as Saintesses. They commence treatment as soon as wounded allies arrive, using the same paired healing that sustained the wartime party. Yura's once-dark expression has recovered much of its brightness, and she laughs with her sister while placing faith in Yoo Eun-hye and Edward. Randalph's name still frightens her, but she also accepts that his actions were essential to humanity's survival, leaving her latest state defined by continued service rather than either worship or simple resentment. (Chapter 242)

Appearance and personality

Before awakening, Yura is a mid-teen girl whose burns have melted her gums, stripped her hair, distorted her posture, and left her unable to move her legs. Randalph's treatment completely restores her: her skin becomes smooth, her speech clears, her legs work, and the resulting clean, pure appearance immediately evokes the image of a Saintess. Three years later, her face is notably brighter than it was after the transformation. (Chapters 181, 183–187, and 242)

Yura is compassionate, self-sacrificing, skeptical, and deeply attached to Min-ji. Hardship gives her enough resolve to strike first when threatened, but her inexperience and refusal to finish incapacitated enemies create tactical openings. She fears Randalph's dual identity and carries guilt over secrets surrounding the coalition's mission, yet she remains dependable under pressure, prioritizing patients and warning allies quickly when Rei detects danger. Saintess awakening and holy power

Yura's Saintess power awakens from extreme grief when Min-ji appears to die. The incomplete awakening initially manifests as a pillar of holy light and then consumes Yura's already damaged body. Randalph's demonic blood fills the power's empty portions, neutralizes the self-destruction, restores her body, and creates a dependency contract. Her holy nature remains potent enough for the Tree of Origin to welcome her, but the precise continuing cost of the blood contract is not quantified beyond her inability to escape Randalph's claim. (Chapters 183–188)

Holy Armour and defensive combat

Holy Armour is a unique-rated skill that wraps Yura's body in holy power and forms a damage-minimizing wall. Ordinary knives wielded by mediocre Awakened cannot scratch her, allowing her to close distance and disable several attackers with a small blade. It does not provide combat judgment, attack techniques, or protection for other people: hostage tactics defeat her first use because Min-ji remains outside the armour, and Yura's hesitation leaves opponents she wounded capable of returning to the fight. (Chapters 191–192)

High-priest healing

As a high priest, Yura works with Min-ji to apply Suture and Regeneration. Together the techniques immediately close injuries, fully heal the wound, and can restore amputated limbs without visible side effects or the ordinary exhaustion caused by magic loss. The narration presents the sisters' combination rather than assigning every effect exclusively to Yura. Its firm limit is death: they can preserve severely injured allies and keep a party moving, but cannot restore people killed instantly. Yura continues using this treatment combination in the epilogue. (Chapters 208–209 and 242)

Contract with Rei

Yura's contract permits Rei, a fire spirit, to manifest visibly and attack on her behalf. Rei incinerates the men threatening the sisters, later detects approaching forces over distances beyond Yura's senses, and communicates warnings directly to her. The spirit covers Yura's lack of a personal attack skill and adds reconnaissance to her support role, but it remains a partnership: Yura must receive and interpret Rei's information, and the corpus does not attribute all of Rei's independent fire power to Yura herself.
