Yanto

Yanto is an Astral formation manager whom Su Chen and Zhu Xianyao enslave to infiltrate Specter's Garden. Retaining his intellect but not the freedom to choose his loyalties, he becomes Ye Fenghan's guide and the key to turning the Astrals' final weapon against them.

Biography

Enslavement and infiltration

Yanto helped manage the Nightmare Forest's formation and fled after being defeated. Su Chen suppressed his will until his strength fell from mid-tier to low-tier, after which Zhu Xianyao spent a month planting a consciousness seed. Yanto then returned to Specter's Garden posing as Ye Fenghan's master while Ye pretended to be his newly captured servant. (Chapters 1015–1016)

Inside the Astral settlement, Yanto explained his people's customs, questioned elders, and helped Ye gain access to their plans. He accepted a supposed suicide mission carrying Annihilation poison, but the arrangement placed the weapon in Ye's hands instead. After the campaign, Yanto briefed Su Chen on Gloom City's defensive towers. When he later recognized the ancient leaders Achilles and Kapius, the shock allowed him to break Zhu Xianyao's control. Appearance and personality

The corpus does not describe Yanto's facial features, clothing, or original biological body. As an Astral, he has discarded an ordinary physical body, and his senses and emotional life differ from those of humans. His own soul nevertheless remains intact while he is controlled. (Chapters 1015–1017)

Yanto is calm, patient, knowledgeable, and capable of dry humor. He explains Astral apathy as a temperament rather than an inability to act, waits respectfully for an elder's attention, and delights in access to restricted research. Because the consciousness seed redirects all of his intentions toward humanity's victory, his apparent loyalty during the infiltration cannot be treated as freely chosen. His grief before Achilles and Kapius is the clearest independent emotion shown. (Chapters 1016–1018 and 1039)

Abilities and cultivation

Yanto was a mid-tier Astral before Su Chen damaged his will and reduced him to the low tier. He possesses the long experience, knowledge, and consciousness-based nature typical of Astrals, and he is familiar with formations, Astral defenses, and the society's research systems. The corpus does not name a personal offensive Arcana Technique. (Chapters 1015–1017 and 1031)

His greatest demonstrated value is covert access. Astral society had no precedent for one of its own being controlled, allowing him and Ye Fenghan to move with little suspicion. Yanto can convincingly present Ye as his servant, obtain information from elders, and carry the Annihilation poison out of the Astrals' protected core. He knows of no technique able to neutralize the Sky Magnet Mountains' turbulent Origin Energy. (Chapters 1016–1020)

Relationships

• Zhu Xianyao: She plants the consciousness seed that compels him. The control breaks when Yanto recognizes Achilles and Kapius. (Chapters 1015 and 1039)
• Ye Fenghan: Ye poses as Yanto's slave while secretly directing the mission. Their conversations show functional cooperation and occasional philosophical disagreement. (Chapters 1015–1019)
• Su Chen: Su Chen suppresses and repurposes Yanto, then relies on his knowledge during the campaign against the Astrals. (Chapters 1015, 1020, and 1031)

Items

The finalized item inventory contains no entries for Yanto. During the infiltration, Elder Ulric gives him the Brokenhearted Jade jar whose isolated void contains Annihilation poison. Yanto carries it as part of the supposed suicide mission, but it is an operational object entrusted to him, not a lasting personal possession. (Chapter 1019)
