Wei Yang

Wei Yang is a Hidden Dragon Institute formation student whose specialty is lethal Origin Formations. Though not one of the expedition’s strongest direct fighters, his ability to detect, dismantle, rebuild, and prepare formations makes him important in both the Goldwater Ruins and the Third River Army. Biography

Formation work in the Goldwater Ruins

Wei Yang enters the Goldwater Ruins as a lower-ranked eighth-year student and joins the human group’s assault on a Demonic Beast. His larger contribution comes after the students reach the ancient laboratory: alongside Jiang Hanfeng, Ma Xuan, and Yan Ling, he neutralizes and rebuilds defensive formations so pursuers cannot simply follow their path. When the ruin’s central controls turn the environment against them, Su Chen sends Wei Yang back to install an Inferno Origin Formation, which later burns the Ferocious Race force approaching from behind and validates the precaution. Wei Yang later joins Su Chen’s Third River Army in Clear River City. He performs guard duty, helps combine four formation disks into the massive formation that empowers Zhou Juanjia against the enemy fleet, and departs with graduating companions while expressing continued solidarity with Su Chen’s cause. He is subsequently seen arriving with former classmates in Ravager territory; his exact post, cultivation realm, and activities after Chapter 630 are not stated. (Chapters 404, 410–422, and 630)

Appearance and personality

He uses a True Sight Mirror to reveal concealed objects and locate formations, can help neutralize and regenerate ancient arrays, and independently installs an Inferno Origin Formation powerful enough to engulf the route behind the expedition. He is trained broadly enough to assist with a void-compression formation, though the four-student team and Ji Ruoyu’s guidance are required for that complex work. (Chapters 318–321)

In Clear River he synchronizes an Origin Formation Disk with those of three other specialists to create a large shipboard array. His skills depend on preparation, tools, materials, and cooperation; an unexpectedly activated lightning formation nearly kills him before Su Chen’s barrier and Qi Weiyan’s intervention save him.
