Lonely Skyleap

Lonely Skyleap is Sky Country's highest-ranking general, the principal defender of Sky City, and Eternal Night's trusted military confidant. A Ninth-Ring Arcana Master specializing in soul power, he is most formidable as a commander who transmits precise orders and coordinates the city's formations, weapons, and armies. His Harpy pride repeatedly creates diplomatic problems, but he can retreat from that pride when the survival of his soldiers or his ruler's objectives require it.

Biography

Commanding the defense against a Desolate Beast

Lonely Skyleap first appears briefing Eternal Night as the Thousand Poisons Toad approaches Sky City. Eternal Night retains control of the overall strategy but entrusts battlefield execution to him. Lonely begins with weak long-range light attacks designed to identify vulnerable areas, then escalates by combining fire, activating counter-poison formations, moving Sky City within the limits of its anchor, and coordinating cannons and sacrificial outer districts. His plan treats the city itself as a weapon rather than merely a position to defend. (Chapters 888–889)

The toad's poisonous mosquito swarm catches him off guard because his preparations assume a single enormous opponent rather than thousands of small attackers. He adapts by issuing new formation and weapon orders, while Serene Dream Lotus Crown and other Harpy experts weaken the toad. The Harpies eventually kill it and destroy the invading Beasts, raising Lonely's public reputation to that of a God of War, but at least 120,000 soldiers and many civilians die. His triumphant report collapses into unease when Eternal Night asks for the casualty count and identifies strategic opportunities that the battle has lost. (Chapters 890–898)

That reputation becomes an instrument of internal control. Lonely publicly announces Eternal Night's command that anyone interfering with Zhu Xianyao's execution will be killed, and the authority of the victorious commander quiets the crowd. When Su Chen appears, Lonely recognizes that Eternal Night anticipated his reasoning and addresses him as a dangerous but temporarily necessary opponent. (Chapter 908)

The three-race campaign at Gloom City

Eternal Night later sends Lonely with one hundred thousand veteran Harpies to join Su Chen and Danba against the Astrals. Lonely initially summons the two sovereign leaders to come to him, a display of Harpy superiority that they answer by punching him through his Eighth-Ring Metal Fortifications barrier without injuring him. When Su Chen explains that Harpy wings are a liability underground and that their survival depends on Ravager support, Lonely apologizes rather than endanger his troops, though negotiations over the Immortal's Soul and other spoils remain contentious. (Chapters 1028–1031)

During the siege, Lonely helps direct Harpy firepower, evaluates Astral defenses, and follows Su Chen's tactical changes. He recognizes the Darkness Door and the threat of a Darkness Devil King, then accepts the task of protecting Su Chen while the latter destroys the gate. His own limitations become visible beside Su Chen and Danba: he delegates a strange enemy to another Ninth-Ring Arcana Master, misreads sacrificial creatures as weak attackers, and repeatedly relies on Su Chen's analysis of unfamiliar Astral methods. (Chapters 1031–1034)

Confronting gods and taking the Immortal's Soul

When the Lord of the Dreamrealm drags the three leaders into his realm, Lonely recognizes him as Abilo and invokes the Barrier of Gods and Eternal Treaty. He boldly rejects divine interference, arguing that the Harpies' offerings and loyalty belong to their own Mother Goddess. The Lord of the Dreamrealm can control his Dreamrealm seals but cannot directly injure him; the Astral Menelaus can, and destroys Lonely's physical arm through a consciousness attack before Lonely calls on the Mother Goddess for protection. (Chapters 1035–1036)

The Mother Goddess secures the Harpies' right to take the Immortal's Soul. Once it is delivered, Lonely withdraws his army and abandons the humans and Ravagers despite their ongoing campaign. He does so without his earlier airs, accepting the shame because recovering the artifact is Sky Country's overriding objective. One year after he brings it home, Sky City regains independent movement, though the corpus attributes the technological achievement and subsequent victories to the Harpies collectively rather than to Lonely alone. (Chapters 1036 and 1047)

Sky City's final campaigns

Lonely continues as Eternal Night's military adviser while mobile Sky City expands into Beast territory. He questions whether war with humanity is necessary, warns that surviving Astrals are untrustworthy, reports intelligence, commands major engagements, and supervises repairs before the planned duel at the Skywild Plains. He also reports the Harpies' near-destruction of a Beast army after three days of pursuit, only for Eternal Night to remind him that Beasts replenish faster than Harpy casualties can be replaced. (Chapters 1048, 1061, and 1070)

Su Chen overturns the planned battle by luring Demonic Beasts into a city whose barriers are temporarily unavailable. Lonely detects the bait's purpose too late, charges into close combat, and struggles to reorganize Harpies unsuited for fighting Beasts at close range. He is seriously wounded and nearly killed, but remains on duty through Serene Dream's funeral. When the Boundless Sect then attacks Sky City directly, Lonely reports the failed energy supply and obeys Eternal Night's order to stop the city, abandon two defensive lines, and divert movement power to the innermost barrier. His last appearance is a pledge to fight for Eternal Night until the end. (Chapters 1074–1080)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not describe Lonely Skyleap's age, face, height, hair, clothing, or ordinary weaponry. As a Harpy he has wings; in the Dreamrealm those wings emit golden light when resisting Menelaus. Menelaus's consciousness claw destroys one of his arms in the physical world, and no later regeneration is reported. Near his final scenes he is also seriously wounded in Sky City, clutches his chest, and walks unsteadily, though he remains capable of command. (Chapters 1035–1036 and 1076–1079)

Lonely is confident, proud, disciplined, loyal, and capable of ruthless sacrifice. He accepts the destruction of outer city districts and military losses when required to stop a Desolate Beast, and he treats successful defense as a source of collective Harpy glory. His pride becomes arrogance toward other races, leading him to summon Su Chen and Danba as inferiors and belittle an Astral ally even when that ally is useful. (Chapters 888–898, 1029–1031, and 1070)

He is nevertheless not inflexible. Once Su Chen shows that arrogance may cost Harpy lives underground, Lonely apologizes; when the Mother Goddess's bargain requires retreat, he accepts humiliation; when Eternal Night makes decisions he doubts, he asks questions and then executes the orders. His latest pledge reflects the governing constant beneath these adjustments: loyalty to Sky Country and Eternal Night outranks personal honor. (Chapters 1029–1036, 1048, and 1080)

Abilities and cultivation

Lonely Skyleap is explicitly a Ninth-Ring Arcana Master who specializes in soul power. His personal techniques support command, defense, and battlefield control, while many of the largest effects associated with him actually belong to Sky City's formations and weapons.

Soul-command transmission

Lonely's soul specialization lets every spoken order penetrate directly into his soldiers' hearts. This prevents mishearing or misinterpretation across an enormous battlefield and compels exact execution. Against human opponents, he can speak one command aloud while silently transmitting another, creating deliberate deception without confusing his own troops. This is the clearest demonstrated interaction between his personal Arcana cultivation and his role as general. (Chapter 888)

The corpus does not show this technique directly controlling unwilling enemies, give its maximum number of recipients, or state an Origin Energy cost. Its demonstrated targets are his own organized forces, and its value depends on formations and soldiers capable of executing the transmitted plan. It therefore improves coordination rather than replacing strategy or personnel. (Chapters 888–890)

Defensive and spatial Arcana Techniques

At Gloom City, Lonely uses Eighth-Ring Metal Fortifications as a barrier. It activates in time to receive Su Chen and Danba's tandem blow, but one fist shatters the defense immediately while the other sends him flying. The opponents intentionally avoid injuring him, so this scene establishes the barrier's inadequacy against their strength rather than its full durability against peers. Its origin, duration, and energy cost are not stated. (Chapter 1029)

When confronting an unnatural fire in Sky City, Lonely pushes out his palm to seal space and create a vacuum around the flames. The fire continues because Void Crystals isolate it from ordinary physical conditions, and several further methods also fail. This shows a personal spatial-control application and its limit against an already spatially protected phenomenon; it is distinct from Sky City's Constellation Shift formation. (Chapter 1075)

Consciousness combat and divine interaction

Lonely understands the metaphysical restrictions governing the Lord of the Dreamrealm and can act within the Dreamrealm through consciousness. His wings produce golden light that tears a hole in Menelaus's incoming consciousness claw, but the defense does not stop the attack from withering and destroying his real arm. He then invokes the Mother Goddess as her heir, prompting direct divine intervention. (Chapters 1035–1036)

This episode does not demonstrate superiority over a god or over Menelaus. The Lord of the Dreamrealm controls Lonely through seals attached to his Dreamrealm status, and Menelaus wounds him despite his resistance. The Mother Goddess—not Lonely's own power—secures the final concession. His arm remains destroyed when he returns to the physical world, establishing a lasting cost with no shown recovery technique. (Chapters 1035–1036)

Command of Sky City's systems

Lonely coordinates the Heaven-Receiving Origin Formation, Brilliant Light Mirrors, Nine Dragons Hurricane Formation, Sun-Shattering Cannons, Thunder God Cannon, Black Fiend Chariots, Constellation Shift, city movement, barriers, and layered defenses. He sequences those systems to probe weak points, combine thousands of attacks, redirect a Desolate Beast's charge, and preserve or sacrifice districts according to strategic value. (Chapters 888–890 and 1061–1080)

These are command authorities, not personal spells. The text explicitly says the spatial power behind Constellation Shift belongs to Sky City rather than Lonely. The same distinction applies to the city's cannons, barriers, and movement core: his skill lies in timing and integration, while the machinery requires troops, Arcana Masters, prepared formations, and energy. When power fails or an enemy invalidates the preparation, his available options shrink sharply. (Chapters 889–890 and 1074–1080)

Strategy, adaptation, and limits

Lonely can prepare layered defenses, sacrifice terrain, locate enemy weaknesses, and turn public reputation into obedience. He adapts when evidence reveals an error, as seen when he accepts Ravager guidance underground and changes formations during the toad battle. His selection of Youthful Labor for a consciousness-poison mission also shows involvement in covert planning beyond open warfare. (Chapters 888–898, 1029–1033, and 1070)

His limitations are repeated surprise and institutional dependence. The toad's swarm defeats a single-target plan; the Astrals' sacrifices and concealed constructs escape his first reading; Su Chen's Beast bait bypasses the planned human battlefield; and close combat scatters Harpies optimized for aerial formation warfare. His latest state remains Ninth-Ring with one arm destroyed and additional serious wounds, still commanding Sky City's innermost defense. No breakthrough, restored limb, or named personal offensive technique is reported. (Chapters 890, 1032–1036, and 1075–1080)

Relationships

  • Eternal Night: Lonely is Eternal Night's principal general and trusted confidant. Eternal Night delegates battle execution, intelligence, repairs, and final defensive orders to him while correcting his strategic optimism and hostility toward useful allies. Lonely questions risks but ultimately pledges to fight for him to the end. (Chapters 888–898, 1048–1070, and 1080)
  • Su Chen: Su Chen is alternately an enemy, temporary ally, tactical superior, and final invader. He humiliates Lonely's diplomatic arrogance, supplies crucial analysis at Gloom City, and later overturns the Harpies' war plan by baiting Beasts into Sky City before attacking it directly. (Chapters 908, 1029–1036, and 1074–1080)
  • Danba: Danba joins Su Chen in forcing Lonely to negotiate as an equal and fights beside him against the Astrals. Lonely ultimately abandons the alliance once the Harpies secure the Immortal's Soul. (Chapters 1029–1036)
  • Mother Goddess: Lonely identifies himself as an heir and devoted Harpy worshipper. When Menelaus wounds him in the Dreamrealm, his appeal brings the Mother Goddess into the dispute and secures the Immortal's Soul for her followers. (Chapters 1035–1036)
  • Serene Dream Lotus Crown: Serene Dream reinforces Lonely during the Beast invasion with temple guards and large-area suppression. He rejoices at her arrival, continues fighting beside her, and later summons Eternal Night to her funeral while still wounded. (Chapters 1076–1079)

Items

The finalized item inventory for Lonely Skyleap contains no entries. He commands many Sky City weapons and receives the Immortal's Soul on behalf of the Harpies, but the corpus treats these as national or institutional assets rather than persistent personal possessions.
