Lin Xie

Lin Xie is a branch descendant of Northface City’s Lin Clan whose pursuit of Su Chen becomes the first lethal test of Su Chen’s returning sight. His death also exposes the connection between the Lin Clan and Sang Zhen’s search for the Spirit Burying Terrace. (Chapters 17–21 and 68)

Biography

A secret overheard and a fatal pursuit

Lin Xie meets Sang Zhen near the Lin estate and identifies the fleeing Su Chen as the Su Clan’s blind fourth young master. Hoping to keep their conversation about the Spirit Burying Terrace secret, he volunteers to chase Su Chen while Sang Zhen avoids the nearby Lin guards. Lin Xie quickly catches his physically weaker target and treats the confrontation as an opportunity to humiliate him, breaking Su Chen’s hand and repeatedly striking him instead of ending the fight at once. That cruelty gives Su Chen time to exploit Lin Xie’s anger, blind him, and turn the pursuit around. (Chapters 17–18)

After losing his eyes, Lin Xie abandons restraint and saturates the forest with dagger Qi. Su Chen’s sight clears enough for him to approach silently and drive sharpened bamboo through Lin Xie’s neck; Lin Xie dies after a final reflexive swing worsens the wound. Later references concern the consequences of this death rather than new appearances: Sang Zhen sends an assassin, Su Chen deduces the terrace’s location from Lin Xie’s limited importance, and Su Chen eventually tells Gu Qingluo that this was when his sight returned. Appearance and personality

Lin Xie is a young man with a notably long face, which Su Chen privately compares to a donkey once his vision clears. No clothing, build, or other lasting physical detail is provided. (Chapter 18)

He is eager to prove useful to Sang Zhen but cruel and easily provoked once he holds an advantage. Rather than killing Su Chen efficiently, he boasts, inflicts pain, and demands submission. His rage after being insulted and injured erases his defensive judgment, directly creating the opening that kills him. (Chapters 17–18)

Abilities and cultivation

Lin Xie has only recently reached the Qi Drawing Realm. His Mysterious Iron Fists channel Origin Energy into otherwise conventional punches; even three-tenths of their strength overwhelms the Body Tempering Su Chen, but the narration treats the technique as a low-grade Origin Skill or enhanced battle skill rather than a sophisticated art. (Chapter 18)

He can also release cutting dagger Qi through a Cicada Dagger. After being blinded, he produces a broad crisscrossing net of strikes and continues long enough to wound Su Chen severely, demonstrating substantial endurance. The attack lacks precise targeting without sight, however, and Lin Xie has no shown sensory method that compensates for blindness. His cultivation ends at Qi Drawing with his death, and the corpus gives no bloodline or training history. (Chapter 18)

Relationships

• Su Chen: Lin Xie pursues and nearly beats Su Chen to death, but his contempt and loss of control allow Su Chen to blind and kill him. The encounter coincides with the meaningful return of Su Chen’s vision. (Chapters 17–21 and 152)
• Sang Zhen: Lin Xie is a disposable local contact in Sang Zhen’s Spirit Burying Terrace operation. He recognizes Su Chen for Sang Zhen and takes responsibility for silencing him, but Sang Zhen later treats the Lin Clan as replaceable. (Chapters 17, 68, and 114)
• Gu Qingluo: Gu Qingluo treats Su Chen after the fight and reconstructs how he defeated a stronger Qi Drawing opponent. Su Chen later admits that killing Lin Xie was the moment his vision returned. (Chapters 19–21 and 152)

Lin Xie carries a Cicada Dagger capable of projecting dagger Qi and a golden command medallion marked with a half-open black door. Su Chen takes the medallion after killing him; the corpus does not confirm its exact function on Lin Xie’s person. (Chapters 18–19)
