Kucha

Kucha, also called the Kucha Sovereign, is the oldest of the ten Beast Sovereigns and the only one who is not an animal-origin Beast. Formed from a ten-thousand-year Kucha plant and elevated after consuming Tree Ancestor's enlightenment, he acts as an envoy for Beast survival but repeatedly chooses self-preservation when Su Chen exposes his weakness. (Chapters 1061 and 1086–1139)

Biography

Appealing to the Blood Ancestor

Kucha understands that the human advance threatens the deeper structure of Beast territory. He petitions Blood Ancestor to provide surface guardians and persuades it that passive defense is no longer sufficient. Blood Ancestor grants three units of blood to awaken Desolate Elders and marrow intended to awaken Barbaric Ancestor. Kucha brings other Sovereigns into the defense, warns an awakened Elder about human tricks, and tries to limit the spread of corrosive fog. When Su's plan destroys the defenders, Kucha survives by hiding as a shadow beneath a rock. (Chapters 1086–1093)

Captured guide

Still attempting to awaken a stronger defender, Kucha meets Su while Su is disguised as an Origin Beast and offers Blood Ancestor's marrow in exchange for help. When the deception is exposed, Kucha attacks with blackish-green Qi, but Su disperses it, seizes him, and tortures him for information. Kucha gives up the Beast defenses to remain alive and guides Su toward Blood Ancestor despite protesting the consequences. His knowledge remains valuable, but his loyalty proves subordinate to survival under direct pressure. (Chapters 1094–1096)

Kucha later watches Origin Beasts cross the bridge as the world's old order changes. Tree Ancestor looks toward him, and he lowers his head, aware that the being whose enlightenment he once consumed may treat him as nourishment in return. This is his last direct appearance. He remains alive, but the corpus does not resolve whether Tree Ancestor later consumes, pardons, or ignores him. (Chapter 1139)

Appearance and personality

Kucha is a plant-origin entity rather than an animal Beast, created from an ancient Kucha plant. His ordinary manifested form, clothing, face, and size are not stably described in the supplied evidence. He can reduce his presence into a shadow-like state for concealment. (Chapters 1061 and 1093–1096)

He is knowledgeable, diplomatic, cautious, persistent, and strongly self-preserving. He repeatedly seeks stronger guardians for the Beast race and correctly recognizes human deception, showing more strategic awareness than simple cowardice. Yet he hides when his peers die, bargains with a supposed Origin Beast, and betrays defensive information under torture. His fear of Tree Ancestor at the end connects survival instinct with guilt over the power he consumed. (Chapters 1086–1096 and 1139)

Abilities and cultivation

Kucha is a Beast Sovereign and is rumored to approach Desolate-Beast level, but the corpus does not verify that comparison through a direct feat. He became enlightened by consuming Tree Ancestor's enlightenment and can produce Shadow Calcite. The exact mechanism by which the enlightenment changed him, the uses of Shadow Calcite, and the limits of its production are not explained. (Chapters 1061 and 1139)

His clearest survival ability is shadow concealment: after the Sovereign massacre, he shifts into a shadow beneath a rock and escapes detection. He can fly as a Sovereign and launch blackish-green Qi offensively. Su disperses that attack and restrains him with little difficulty, establishing a sharp limit against top human power. The corpus does not name the Qi technique, show its effect on an equal opponent, or demonstrate regenerative, healing, or Desolate-level destructive abilities. (Chapters 1093–1096)

Kucha also possesses exceptional institutional knowledge of Beast territory and access to its ancient powers. He can petition Blood Ancestor, interpret its resources, locate dormant guardians, and guide Su toward hidden defenses. Those are diplomatic and navigational advantages rather than proof that Kucha personally controls Blood Ancestor, Barbaric Ancestor, or the Desolate Elders. (Chapters 1086–1096)

Relationships

  • Su Chen: Kucha's disguised would-be ally, captor, and interrogator. Su deceives him, overpowers him, extracts Beast intelligence, and forces him to act as a guide. (Chapters 1094–1096)
  • Blood Ancestor: Ancient power from whom Kucha requests the blood and marrow needed to awaken surface guardians. Kucha can petition and interpret Blood Ancestor, not command it. (Chapters 1086–1096)
  • Tree Ancestor: Source of the enlightenment Kucha consumed to become a Sovereign and the object of his final fear. Their last exchange is only a look and lowered head, so Kucha's ultimate fate remains unresolved. (Chapters 1061 and 1139)
