Tree Ancestor

The Tree Ancestor is a plant-form Origin Beast whose enlightenment transforms Kucha and whose immense body later crosses into the gods’ domain.

Biography

Enlightenment and awakening

Kucha accidentally consumes the Tree Ancestor’s enlightenment and becomes a Sovereign, leaving him aware of the Ancestor’s hibernation site but terrified to awaken it. He conceals the location because plant lifeforms can assimilate other beings and he fears that the Tree Ancestor would eventually treat even a talented disciple as nourishment. (Chapters 1086, 1095, 1139)

After awakening off-page with the other Origin Beasts, the Tree Ancestor crawls across the inter-world bridge and pointedly notices Kucha but lets him live. In the battle against the gods, it strikes Yormak, consumes divine blood through its tendrils, and later discusses humanity’s future with the Blood Ancestor. (Chapters 1139–1144)

Appearance and personality

The Tree Ancestor is an enormously tall, tree-shaped Origin Beast whose scale forces it to crawl across the bridge. It is predatory and dislikes the prospect of humanity producing more cultivators like Su Chen, but it can act with restraint and listen to the Blood Ancestor’s counsel. (Chapters 1139, 1144)

Abilities and cultivation

As an Origin Beast, it possesses overwhelming physical power. Its branches extend across great distances, sprout invasive tendrils that drain divine blood, and contend directly with attacks from the gods, although divine moonlight can wither its limbs to ash. (Chapter 1142)

Relationships

Kucha is its accidental inheritor and possible disciple, though their connection is defined by Kucha’s fear of being eaten. The Tree Ancestor fights beside the Blood Ancestor and the other awakened Origin Beasts against the gods. (Chapters 1086, 1139–1144)
