Baron

Baron is a Yang Opening Realm mercenary who commands the force hired through the Immortal Temple to help Su Chen destroy the Shadow Mountain Troops. He emphasizes that he is the team’s captain and that he acts under contract rather than as a subordinate, but develops genuine respect for Su Chen’s intelligence during their one shared operation.

Biography

Captain of a temporary strike team

Baron introduces himself after Su Chen turns would-be attackers into temporary allies. He explicitly stresses that he was ordered to assist and remains captain, preserving his independence even while acknowledging that Su Chen is more capable than expected. He transports the group in a Fog Concealed Carriage, coordinates scouts and support specialists, and leads the strike on the Golden Name Workshop after confirming the bandits’ strength and isolating the street with rapidly grown Fog Cypress trees. (Chapters 71–72)

At the workshop, Baron personally confronts the Yang Opening leader Li Mingtang. His steady broadsword blows overpower the opponent’s more elaborate flying rings, and he kills Li while trying to end the fight quickly enough to interrogate him. Baron then permits a search of Su Chen’s Origin Ring when the team suspects hidden spoils, orders Aaron to apologize after the search finds nothing, and moves the force on to Shadow Mountain rather than allowing mutual suspicion to break the contract. Shadow Mountain and departure

Baron treats the mountain bandits as opponents too weak to require subtle planning. He assigns exits and tunnels to specialists, then leads a direct assault in which ordinary weapons cannot pierce his body and his broadsword cuts through enemies. After the treasury appears disappointing, he enforces the agreed division and suppresses Aaron’s continued provocations. He also accepts Su Chen’s conditional handling of Qing He, observing that having a moral boundary is better than having none. (Chapters 74–76)

At dawn Baron declares the operation complete and prepares to return home. He sincerely tells Su Chen that family conflict is normal rather than ridiculous and that he expects the blind youth to prevail against his second uncle. Night Demon later explains that Baron does not belong to the Immortal Temple: his relationship is commercial, his knowledge of the organization limited, and his real name therefore usable. Appearance and personality

Baron is a middle-aged man. In battle he is portrayed as a massive, majestic figure, especially when wearing golden armor, but the corpus does not establish his hair, eyes, height, or ordinary clothing in detail. (Chapters 71, 73, and 75)
