Bai Ou

Bai Ou is a talented Hidden Dragon Institute student of the Thunder Spirit Bai Clan. He ranks among the Three Mountains Region's strongest examination candidates, then pursues revenge against Su Chen and Cloud Leopard after the death of his elder half-brother Bai Fan.

Biography

From examination talent to family vengeance

Bai Ou first appears as “Thunder Spirit Bai Ou,” ranked ninth among the Three Mountains Region's entrance candidates. He is younger than Bai Fan but enjoys higher clan standing because his bloodline and birth are considered superior. After Bai Fan dies and Cloud Leopard takes the Thunder Blade, Bai Ou identifies the weapon's penetrating thunder traces and attacks Cloud Leopard for answers. His investigation joins him to his cousin Bai Yihong, whose separate grievance against Su Chen turns family vengeance into a coordinated assault. (Chapters 119 and 176–184)

The attack fails despite Bai Ou gradually overpowering Night Demon. Iron Cliff reinforces her, and Su Chen's firebird technique knocks Bai Ou unconscious with the other young nobles. As a captive, Bai Ou is restrained with Qi Obstructing Powder and used in Su Chen's bloodline-stimulation experiments. The process exposes the limitations of his mixed bloodline but also lets him understand its thunderous hum more clearly. Clan pressure eventually secures the captives' release under an agreement against retaliation, and no later clan attack is recorded during the following three years. (Chapters 184–194)

Appearance and personality

Bai Ou has sword-like eyebrows. No reliable description of his height, build, hair, clothing, or other stable features is given. (Chapter 176)

He is proud of his talent and clan status, observant enough to trace the Thunder Blade through the wounds it creates, and persistent in avenging Bai Fan. He is also vindictive and willing to attack students outside a formal contest. His resistance while captive shows courage, but once Su Chen demonstrates control over his body and bloodline, Bai Ou also understands that defiance cannot change his immediate position. Abilities and cultivation

Bai Ou is a Qi Drawing Realm Origin Qi Scholar who has cultivated for less than a year when he fights Night Demon. His Empty Cry bloodline belongs to the Thunder Spirit Bai Clan's “Thunder Thirty-Six” lineages. It gives his thunder attacks unusual penetrative and consciousness-disrupting effects, though his mixed inheritance imposes a ceiling that the corpus does not quantify. (Chapters 176 and 184–193)

Empty Cry thunder

Empty Cry Thunder Explosion sends thunder power into a target rather than relying only on an external blast. At higher mastery it can erupt inside the body; Bai Ou has not reached that level, but his version produces nausea, dizziness, and mental disorientation. Repeated use lets him wear Night Demon down even though his foundational cultivation is relatively recent. The technique's exact range, energy cost, and recovery time are not stated. Su Chen's Bloodline Stimulation Medicine provokes Bai Ou's bloodline and reveals a distinctive inner hum. That experience helps Bai Ou strengthen the thunder channeled through his blade, but it does not remove the limits of his mixed blood. Weapon use and limitations

Bai Ou channels Empty Cry thunder through the Thunder Blade and also carries a jade circlet during the group attack. His combination of weapon skill and bloodline pressure gives him the advantage over Night Demon, but Iron Cliff's intervention and Su Chen's ranged firebird overwhelm him. The Thunder Blade and circlet are not assigned to Bai Ou's finalized persistent-item inventory, and their later custody is not established here. (Chapters 184–185)

Relationships

• Bai Fan: Bai Ou is Bai Fan's more highly regarded younger half-brother. Bai Fan's death motivates Bai Ou to trace the Thunder Blade and pursue those responsible. (Chapter 176)
• Bai Yihong: Bai Yihong is Bai Ou's cousin, not another name for him. Their separate grievances converge when Bai Yihong recruits Bai Ou for the attack on Su Chen's group. (Chapters 176 and 184–185)
