Bai Yihong

Bai Yihong is an aristocratic Hidden Dragon Institute student whose possessive pursuit of Ji Hanyan brings him into repeated conflict with Su Chen. His confidence in clan privilege fails against both institute discipline and opponents he underestimates.

Biography

Entitlement and repeated humiliation

Seeing Ji Hanyan accept something from Su Chen, Bai Yihong assumes a rival has intruded on a woman he regards as his future possession. He introduces himself as a “Prince,” points in Su Chen's face, and attacks after Su Chen breaks the offending finger. The institute's restrictions rebound the unauthorized violence and lead to confinement, but punishment does not end his grievance. He later tries to seize Iron Cliff, only to have his wrist broken and be thrown aside after misjudging a Cliff Race warrior's physical strength. (Chapters 163–168)

Bai Yihong then recruits his more capable cousin Bai Ou, disregarding a Chang Clan prohibition on contact with his father's Bai Clan connections for the sake of revenge. During the resulting group assault, Bai Yihong activates his clan bloodline but cannot overcome Iron Cliff and is knocked unconscious by Su Chen's firebird. Su Chen holds and experiments on the captured nobles until their clans negotiate a release without retaliation.
