Biography

Glare patriarch and reluctant coalition builder

Norton appears in an infant-like body while ruling the Glare Family with the authority of a Fourth Rank patriarch. He evaluates Gorsa as both the family's greatest talent and an ideological danger, sponsors Corey as a candidate, and negotiates with Frim and Murphy while trying to preserve Glare interests through the approaching Black Tide crisis. His family calculations increasingly collide with Alick's plan to abandon the world through the Stargate. Norton later attempts to persuade the chairman and retain the council's red-worm resources for defense. The latest scenes leave him alive and politically active, but do not show whether that persuasion succeeds before Alick departs. (Chapters 640–658, 906–915, 948–960)

Appearance and personality

Norton inhabits the body of an infant yet speaks with the calm authority of an ancient wizard, a contrast that unsettles even loyal Glare elders. He is factual, strategic, family-minded, and capable of respect toward Murphy without surrendering his own faction's priorities. (Chapters 640 and 658)

As a Fourth Rank Wizard, Norton possesses the life persistence and power expected of a continental patriarch, though his direct combat is less important than family control, candidate selection, and high-level negotiation. (Chapters 640–658 and 906–960)

• Gorsa: Norton sees Gorsa as a brilliant but divergent heir whose decisions can strengthen or destabilize the Glare Family. (Chapters 640–658 and 948–960)
