Hegemon Azurefiend

Hegemon Azurefiend is a wandering Chaos Godbeast whose pursuit of Ji Ning's realmship ends with him becoming Ning's Hegemonic retainer. Proud, destructive, and initially contemptuous of Daolords, he develops into a loyal traveling companion who chooses to protect Ning's household even beyond the term imposed by their wager.

Biography

A wandering Hegemon

Azurefiend is not native to the Hiddenfiend Realmverse and has no organization comparable to the Brightshore Kingdom. He has spent countless ages roaming between realmverses, exploring dangerous regions, killing and plundering as he pleases. That solitary life makes a realmship especially desirable: it would turn journeys that consume vast spans of time into manageable travel. When word spreads that Ji Ning possesses one inside the Jadefire Realm, Azurefiend joins the first expedition. (Chapters 1227–1229)

He is the strongest member of the arriving group, but refuses to travel with the other Hegemons. Entering first preserves his advantage, and moving alone means the realmship will be solely his if he finds Ning. He scouts with two immense rope treasures and repeatedly chases Ning's apparently fleeing vessel through the flaming passageways. Azurefiend is aggressive but not careless: he maps old mechanisms, probes ahead, and is patient enough to wait more than a hundred thousand years for an opening. (Chapters 1228–1233)

Capture in the Jadefire Realm

Ning controls the passageways and deliberately feeds Azurefiend false opportunities until a void cage activates around him. Unable to break it even with his full strength, Azurefiend realizes he has been caught by an intelligence advantage rather than a direct defeat. Ning offers release in exchange for 108,000 chaos cycles of service, then reduces the term to one thousand. Azurefiend refuses both. To him, becoming a Daolord's retainer would be worse than imprisonment or death; he would rather owe an unpayable debt to Realmslord Windgrace than submit to someone he considers an ant. (Chapters 1233–1234)

The impasse becomes a wager. Ning enters the cage and agrees that if Azurefiend can kill him within ten breaths, the mechanism will dissolve; if he cannot, Azurefiend will serve for a thousand chaos cycles. Azurefiend respects the courage behind that offer and fights without holding back. His attacks overpower Ning's secret arts and force him through repeated defensive stances, but Ning's invulnerable form disperses the force of Azurefiend's ultimate true-form strike. Once he knows a timely kill is impossible, Azurefiend concedes rather than search for an excuse. (Chapters 1235–1236)

Ning then explains the Omega Sword Dao. Understanding why a Daolord can stand just below Hegemonic power removes the sense of humiliation: Azurefiend has lost an honest wager to a cultivator walking an exceptionally rare path. He swears the lifeblood oath, publicly tells the other Hegemons he is Ning's retainer, and helps persuade or overpower the intruders who had come to kill his new master. (Chapters 1236–1238)

Service that becomes loyalty

Azurefiend initially emphasizes the thousand-chaos-cycle limit, but shared experience steadily changes the relationship. He helps operate the realmship, follows Ning to the Hiddenfiend Realmverse, and participates in the journey to find Nuwa. During the long voyage to the Blazesun Domain, he replenishes the ship with his own Immortal energy, trades jokes with Flamewing, and starts calling Ning “Master” without noticing the change. Ning's power, restraint, and occasional guidance replace Azurefiend's pride with voluntary respect. (Chapters 1270–1302)

He remains with Ning after the failed Daomerge, traveling through the Blazesun Domain and then into the Sithelands to rescue the Paragon of Pills. Ning lends him suppressive chains and later gives him a Sithe weapon from a captured Daoguard Tower. Azurefiend, who had never owned such a weapon, is deeply moved; he resolves privately that even after Ning dies he will continue safeguarding his master's family and friends. (Chapters 1298–1343)

In the Sithe hidden dimension, he helps control grand formations, recognizes old friends among mind-controlled defenders, and witnesses Ning capture thousands of Hegemons and Emperors. The sights exceed everything from his earlier solitary travels. During a later stop he accepts six disciples, leaves them the resources they need, and returns to the Three Realms. He lives on Brightheart Island alongside Ning's other retainers, tells younger clan members stories of their journeys, and attends the intimate banquet before Ning's terminal seclusion. (Chapters 1343–1387)

Appearance and personality

In humanoid form Azurefiend is a skinny, wizened old man covered in azure scales. Red light can flash in his eyes, and his habitual cold expression reinforces his savage reputation. His true form is a long, four-legged beast covered in azure scales, with a triangular head, hooves, and a long metal-whip-like tail. (Chapters 1228 and 1235–1236)

His pride is severe but governed by a consistent code. He will accept death rather than an arrangement he considers dishonorable, gives Ning the first attack in their wager, uses his full power once the stakes are clear, and immediately honors the result. He can be vulgar, greedy, and shameless about treasure, yet he also forms lasting friendships, teaches disciples, and responds strongly to sincere generosity. His transformation is not a change from treachery to loyalty; it is the redirection of an already rigid loyalty toward someone he comes to admire. (Chapters 1233–1237, 1298, and 1341–1382)

Abilities and cultivation

Hegemonic cultivation and Chaos Godbeast body

Azurefiend is a Hegemon ranked above many peers in raw combat. As a Chaos Godbeast, he has a crystallized divine body with an exceptional blend of toughness and suppleness. Ning's near-Hegemonic Heavenbreaker strikes his face and body directly without leaving a scratch, and ordinary Hegemons can attack him without easily causing injury. This defense is innate to his body rather than an invulnerable-form technique. (Chapters 1229 and 1235)

His humanoid form restrains part of that power. By returning to his true Godbeast body, Azurefiend brings his natural claws, tail, structure, and full destructive force into play. The change is reserved for a serious fight rather than cosmetic shapeshifting. (Chapters 1235–1236)

Azurefiend Fiefdom

Azurefiend Fiefdom is a Hegemonic secret art perfected over countless aeons. It radiates rings of dimensional power like waves, filling the surrounding region with force that pushes and suppresses from every direction. In the cage duel, it shatters the golden wings and sword-light of Ning's secret arts even after Ning reinforces them with a heartworld projection. The technique controls the field and breaks opposing domains before Azurefiend closes for a physical kill. (Chapter 1235)

End of Days

End of Days is a favored claw technique. Azurefiend expands his hand until it blots out the surroundings, bending and compressing space through his fingers. Within those compressed spatial fields, worlds appear to be born and immediately destroyed. Its coverage makes ordinary evasion ineffective, while its concentrated force breaks Ning's black-hole-like defensive sword stance and throws his body across the cage. Azurefiend can unleash hundreds of these claw attacks within a breath, turning one overwhelming strike into sustained pressure. (Chapter 1235)

Genesis Annihilation

Genesis Annihilation is Azurefiend's strongest documented attack. Executed in true form, it fuses his insights into the Dao of Space and the Dao of Destruction through both claws. Its force permeates multiple spatial continuums and follows karma, so merely hiding a clone or Primaltwin elsewhere would not prevent linked bodies from being destroyed. Ning cannot block the attack directly and survives by becoming flowing, invulnerable water that deflects its force. The move is therefore more than raw strength: it is Azurefiend's accumulated understanding from countless realmverse journeys condensed into a causal, cross-space killing technique. (Chapter 1236)

Travel, formations, and external weapons

Azurefiend's long wandering gives him practical knowledge of dangerous regions, realmships, and sacred lands. He can power a realmship continuously with replenishing Immortal energy and pilot it through extended travel. He also helps operate large formations when multiple Hegemons are needed to supply and coordinate their power. (Chapters 1298, 1301, and 1364)

His scouting ropes, six suppressive black chains, and later Sithe weapon are equipment rather than innate abilities. The ropes probe mechanisms from great distances; the chains can bind even Otherverse Lords or Hegemons after Ning creates an opening; the unnamed Sithe weapon is a personal gift whose exact operation is not established in the scoped corpus. (Chapters 1229, 1336–1343)
