Tavza

Tavza An'Azol is a direct descendant of an Abyssal Prince and the Abyssal Shores' chosen leader in the struggle for Ultom. A scholar of ancient arrays and a bearer of Azol's sanctuary bloodline, she first approaches Zac Atwood as the lost Vanguard her people must recover. Political defeat, contact with the Peak of Chaos, and the Undead Empire's internal fracture force her to choose what kind of leader she will become.

Biography

Entry and defining relationships

Tavza arrives in Zecia with authority rooted in the An'Azol name and a mission to return Zac's Eoz bloodline to the Abyssal Shores. She is efficient enough to abandon profitable realms when they do not serve that goal, skeptical enough to consider Zac a dangerous unknown, and initially willing to force a choice between his human and undead paths. Her ancestor's instruction changes the calculation: Eoz may be required to unlock a secret tied to the Draugr race's origin, so Tavza must protect a man she would otherwise prefer to eliminate rather than let rival divine races claim him. (Chapters 935, 938, 950, and 967)

Catheya's flight exposes the weakness in Tavza's command. Tavza had considered confinement for Catheya's reckless cultivation, not murder for her seal, yet Kator's agents exploit the existing fear with a hallucinogen and make the expedition look predatory. Tavza publicly accepts responsibility, secretly records the rival faction's manipulation, and sends operatives to warn Catheya and Zac. She accepts the reputational cost because rebuilding cooperation matters more than appearing infallible. By the time Zac leaves Kavista, Tavza privately warns him not to return, choosing his survival over her formal standing within the mission. (Chapters 967, 979, 1091, and 1114)

Escalation, choices, and consequences

Kator takes command and seals Tavza away from meaningful influence, while the Abyssal Shores fall silent amid the empire's internal fracture. Tavza decides that obedience will only leave her race and the Eoz successor exposed. She activates an ancient array attributed to the Primo, crosses a death-linked temporal pathway, and asks Galgallim for aid despite knowing a mistake could destroy even a Monarch. The contact cannot solve her political crisis, but it carries her into the broken peak where she intervenes in Zac's Atavism and touches Chaos without the qualifications to contain it. (Chapters 1209–1211)

The intervention leaves Tavza's pathways twisted, her foundations damaged, and her usable output reduced to roughly Early-Hegemon strength. This is a debilitation, not a loss of her formal Late Hegemony. She still enters the Imperial Graveyard, survives a mutiny, and continues pursuing seals while researching ancient formations. Her five deathsworn follow without complaint, prompting her to compare coerced service with the freely given loyalty surrounding Zac. Pain and political isolation turn her scholarship outward: she no longer wants merely to record history, and resolves to survive long enough to shape the upheaval threatening her people. (Chapters 1212, 1233, 1268, and 1279)

Later role and current direction

Tavza reunites with Zac by following a concealed tracker and negotiates a new alliance around the Primo's treasure rather than demanding obedience. She discloses that the Chaos injury has become a self-contained Creation Heart beside her Cosmic Core, then agrees to spend limited energy hiding Zac from Mox while helping rescue Ogras Azh'Rezak. In the confrontation with Naruk, she uses her Abyss, array instruments, grimoires, and the hostile heart itself to hold back a Pseudo-Monarch force. Madness urges her to seize Zac's secrets, but she refuses the short-term gain because the future of the Draugr matters more. (Chapters 1350–1355)

Travel through the Hollow Court's linked gardens and hells turns that alliance into a working partnership. Tavza traces ancient formations, contains dangerous awakenings, shields the group from hostile Karma, and helps direct the destruction of a compromised Grand Array. Avici then drives an externally fueled bloodline evolution that expands her Ancestral Runes, though she remains cautious about possible mutation. She reaches the Hollow Court with Zac and Ogras, studies the Interment Gate, and then uses the upheaval around Zac's breakthrough to open an unexplained tear. By Chapter 1431 the path has closed and her location is unknown, with her pursuit of the Primo's treasure still unresolved. (Chapters 1357–1418 and 1427–1431)

Appearance and personality

Tavza is introduced as an exceptionally beautiful Draugr whose composed face reveals little. Her pitch-black eyes carry the depth of the Abyss, and the bloodline's archaic patterns can spread across her face and body like a second set of pathways. After contact with Chaos, thin golden lines appear among those dark markings. At full combat readiness she wears a voluminous pitch-black War Regalia whose layered dress moves like abyssal waves, accompanied by multiple high-quality accessories and three crystalline array instruments. (Chapters 935, 1072, 1088–1090, and 1351–1355)

Her impassivity is discipline rather than indifference. Tavza is proud, exacting, and willing to manipulate an unstable political field, but she can admit failures and spend status to correct them. She values mission efficiency and historical understanding, then gradually recognizes that institutions preserved without change can become another form of decay. Contact with Zac makes her more willing to risk uncertainty, while her refusal to surrender to the Creation Heart's madness shows that curiosity has not displaced responsibility to her people. Dry exchanges with Ogras and rare smiles reveal humor beneath the formal reserve. (Chapters 950, 967, 979, 1209, 1268, 1351–1355, and 1382–1416)

Abilities and cultivation

Tavza is formally a Late Hegemon whose cultivation combines three Death-centered Earthly Daos, the An'Azol bloodline, an Array Master's technical foundation, and elite equipment. Damage from her encounter with Chaos sharply reduces her available output by Chapter 1212 without lowering her formal grade. She later stabilizes the injury into a Creation Heart and can once again display power comparable to the strongest Hegemons through bloodline, arrays, regalia, and Dao synergy, but the heart continues consuming energy and causing pain. No complete recovery or advancement to Monarchy is confirmed by Chapter 1433. (Chapters 1114, 1212, 1268, 1279, 1351–1355, and 1415)

Sanctuary of Azol

Azol's branch embodies sanctuary: Tavza can reproduce an aspect of the Abyssal Lake wherever she stands. The resulting domain fills an area with Abyssal Death and Miasma, sustains undead allies in hostile environments, and lets her designate outsiders as enemies of the lake. Against such targets it seals ordinary senses, erodes hostile energy, and subverts Death-aligned power rather than merely applying physical pressure. Tavza also shapes abyssal water into restraints, transport, defensive curtains, and floods capable of sweeping powerful summons out of a battlefield. (Chapters 1077–1090, 1209, 1350–1355, and 1416)

The sanctuary is powerful but not absolute. A prepared source of concentrated Life can trigger a war within the domain, and stronger principles or sustained attacks still consume Tavza's reserves. After the Chaos injury, simply containing the Creation Heart takes substantial Miasma, one reason she travels without providing constant sanctuary to followers. She can isolate tribulation fallout, seal a teleporter, or reduce corrupting energy long enough for Zac to act, but each use competes with the energy needed to preserve her own body and foundations. (Chapters 1212, 1268, 1299, 1351–1355, and 1416)

Array mastery and historical analysis

Tavza approaches formations as a historian as well as an engineer. She reads decay, repairs, and altered energy flow to reconstruct what an ancient array was designed to do, then builds temporary keys that redirect rather than overpower it. In the Imperial Graveyard, twenty-eight disks and engraved nodes reverse a mutated living fortress long enough to uncover its catacombs. Elsewhere, she traces a Buddhist takeover of the Crushing Hell's Grand Array and provides Zac with the map and talisman needed to break its compromised core before their route disappears. (Chapters 1209, 1268, and 1382–1405)

Her field methods combine prepared disks, Dao-guided calculations, bloodline Miasma, and the authority or behavior of the structure itself. This makes her exceptional at infiltration, sealing, masking, and control, but poor conditions can turn precision into a liability. High-grade formations require time and complete observations; a Natural Formation may only be diverted for hours, and drawing heavily on her bloodline aggravates the Chaos wound. Tavza's latest work in the Interment Gate follows the same pattern—questioning heroic spirits and reading crypts until she can open a route that even Zac cannot reproduce. (Chapters 1268, 1351–1355, 1382–1405, 1418, and 1427–1431)

Three Earthly Daos of Death

Tavza holds three Middle Earthly Daos, each built around Death: one joins Death with the Peak of the Grand Tapestry, one combines Death and Water, and one pursues Pure Death with an aspect of Abyssal Oblivion. Their common foundation produces unusually strong synergy, letting her layer multiple meanings into the same array or domain instead of maintaining unrelated combat systems. The Pure Death Dao is the most advanced of the three and is close to another breakthrough, though no later formal advancement is confirmed. (Chapter 1355)

In combat, the Grand Tapestry aspect supports complex arrays and the reading of large energy systems, while Death and Water expresses the Abyssal Lake through mobile currents, containment, and environmental control. Pure Death supplies finality and Oblivion that can isolate corruption or help unravel composite creatures. The specialization demands comprehension beyond merely collecting three kinds of insight, and it leaves Tavza heavily dependent on death-attuned conditions and reserves. Her regalia and three Supreme-quality instruments amplify the Daos, but those equipment-assisted heights do not erase the strain on her damaged foundation. (Chapters 1209, 1268, and 1351–1355)

Creation Heart and Godbinder Array

Tavza's contact with Chaos initially spreads incompatible power through her body, twisting pathways and damaging her foundations. She later delineates the mixture into Creation and Oblivion, using the latter more safely while compressing the former into an opalescent second heart beside her Cosmic Core. Countless Abyssal runes create a sealed space around it. This prevents immediate destruction and turns diffuse corruption into a structure she can study, but every pulse releases Creation Energy that must be opposed with Miasma. The heart remains painful, energy-hungry, and seemingly resistant to removal. (Chapters 1209–1212, 1268, and 1351)

The Godbinder Array lets Tavza exploit that danger without pretending it has become harmless. Connected to her bloodline and prepared grimoires, the array covers the Creation Heart in runes and forces its resistance to power a brief state near Tavza's former contact with Chaos. She uses metallic needles to unravel Naruk's composite nightmares, including Pseudo C-grade avatars, because their unstable mixtures are especially vulnerable to collapsing order. The effect is short-lived and carries backlash, pain, and intrusive madness. Tavza suppresses the urge to capture Zac, preserving control but not curing the underlying wound. (Chapter 1355)

Later bloodline evolution

The ordeal of Avici leaves Tavza's Ancestral Runes more complete and carries the fluctuations of a recent bloodline breakthrough. Unlike a conventional awakening in the Abyssal Lake, this evolution is fueled by an external source of Death. It strengthens the visible inheritance of Azol, but Tavza does not assign it a canonical substage and explicitly worries that an outside energy could have introduced mutations. She plans to have senior Draugr examine the result rather than assume every change is beneficial. (Chapters 1414–1415)

By Tavza's disappearance from the Hollow Court, the evolved bloodline remains active, her three Daos remain Middle Earthly Daos, and her formal cultivation remains Late Hegemony. The expanded runes support continued use of the Abyss, but neither the evolution nor the containment of the Creation Heart completes the repair of her foundations. Her departure through the Hollow Court tear demonstrates successful array work and concealment, not a new formal grade. (Chapters 1415–1418 and 1427–1431)

Items

Tavza fights and works through a coordinated set of abyssal War Regalia, high-grade accessories, grimoires altered into sealing implements, journals, and array disks. These instruments amplify her Daos and calculations, but none replaces the bloodline, knowledge, and damaged cultivation that determine what she can safely accomplish.

Relationships

  • Zac Atwood: Tavza begins by treating Zac's undead identity as a lost racial asset whose return may require coercion. His importance to Eoz and his refusal to follow established expectations push her toward protection, negotiation, and finally a partnership built on explicit competing interests. She risks her cultivation during his Atavism, while he becomes the person most capable of understanding the Creation Heart she chooses to contain. (Chapters 938–979, 1071–1114, 1209–1212, and 1350–1431)
  • Catheya: Catheya is initially Tavza's liaison to Zac and later a subordinate whose seal creates fear of sacrifice. Tavza's controlling command helps create that fear, but she rejects killing Catheya, exposes Kator's manipulation, and provides a long-range device that preserves contact after their groups separate. (Chapters 935–979 and 1233)
  • Kator: Kator is Tavza's rival for leadership of the Undead Empire's Ultom expedition. He exploits her lack of command experience, undermines her relations with Catheya and Zac, and eventually takes control, while Tavza answers with spies, hidden arrays, and an independent agreement rather than a duel that would violate imperial law. (Chapters 950, 979, 1109–1114, 1209–1212, and 1299)
  • Ogras Azh'Rezak: Ogras becomes Tavza's reluctant companion through the linked realms leading to the Hollow Court. His improvisation frustrates her, but her knowledge, domains, and seals repeatedly complement his stealth and willingness to exploit dangerous openings. (Chapters 1350–1418)
  • Laz: Laz Tem'Zul is Tavza's Dao Guardian, uncle, and principal adviser. He questions her gambles, protects her hidden operations, and reports her development without taking away the authority she must learn to exercise herself. (Chapters 949–950, 979, 1088–1091, and 1209)
