Himmy
Himmy is an Alter field investigator and the leader of the squad including Charlotte and Anna. Initially assigned to portal anomalies around Raze Cromwell, he develops moral doubts about Alter's methods and leaves warnings and evidence for Raze's allies. Scar kills and decapitates him after he rejects the organization's direction, but the investigative trail he preserved continues guiding the Rylon inquiry after his death.
Biography
Alter investigator in Pagna
Himmy arrives in Pagna as a physically imposing, terse field leader whose equipment and operational caution contrast with Charlotte's openness. He investigates portal deaths, protects civilians during the temple conflict, and brings Raze into Alter's orbit without ever fully controlling him. His priority is completing missions while preventing avoidable bloodshed, a restraint that gradually conflicts with the organization's willingness to treat people as expendable. (Chapters 36–69 and 145–216)
The later squad with Charlotte and Anna faces the Lethal Bite Clan, Deleters, and evidence that Alter's agenda is not the neutral protection it claims. Himmy supplies planning, weapons, and institutional knowledge, while Raze's independence repeatedly forces him to decide whether obedience or the team's survival matters more. He increasingly chooses the latter. (Chapters 454–552)
Defection and death
Once Himmy understands that Alter is targeting Raze and eliminating dissenters, he warns allies, investigates further, and prepares information that can survive him. Scar, a former colleague committed to Alter's violent direction, confronts him. Himmy rejects the ambition and cruelty Scar represents, preferring the possibility of an ordinary ethical life over rank purchased through complicity. (Chapters 814–843)
Scar kills Himmy and decapitates him. The corpus treats this as final death, not disappearance, possession, or a reversible system state. He does not participate personally in later battles; references to what he “wanted” describe the intentions his friends infer from his work and character. (Chapters 843–850 and 904)
Evidence after death
The clues Himmy leaves direct Raze's allies toward Charlotte, Rylon, sacrificial circles, and links between Alter and Raze's former Pagna body. Anna searches for Charlotte partly because she believes Himmy would have wanted the surviving team protected. His posthumous influence is therefore investigative rather than supernatural: recoverable records and trusted colleagues carry the work forward. (Chapters 904 and 950–975)
Appearance and personality
Himmy is large and physically imposing, moving with heavy steps and often speaking only when a decision is required. Beneath that severity he is diligent and morally hesitant, repeatedly seeking to protect uninvolved people. His rejection of Scar clarifies that caution was conscience, not weakness or lack of ambition. (Chapters 36, 64, 843–850)
Magic, cultivation, and abilities
Alter fieldcraft
Himmy is trained as an Alter investigator and squad leader. He uses scanners, otherworld weapons, intelligence networks, tactical planning, and Pagna-compatible movement in portal operations. The supplied evidence emphasizes equipment and judgment rather than a signature innate spell or precisely stated cultivation stage, so no unsupported magical affinity is assigned. (Chapters 36, 59–61, 216, and 454–511)
His greatest demonstrated skill is preserving actionable intelligence under institutional pressure. He can warn targets and leave trails that others reconstruct, but he cannot overcome Scar's Deleter-level power in direct conflict. His capabilities end at his death; later investigative successes belong to the allies using his evidence. (Chapters 814–850 and 950–975)
