Bubble

Bubble is Pagna's most prominent mass-market reporter. He turns incomplete reports, eyewitness testimony, and a continent-wide distribution network into the public legend of the Dark Magus, then becomes an intelligence source for Rayna and Dame Narfous when Alter's Deleters threaten Pagna.

Biography

Publishing the Dark Magus legend

Bubble first appears as a wealthy publisher whose network sells accessible news across cities and factions rather than secret intelligence to individual clans. After the battle around Repton's alchemist warehouse, he rapidly publishes the story of a mysterious demon and follows its extraordinary sales by assigning more investigation. He understands that the attacker, alchemist, and Dark Magus may not be the same person, yet deliberately keeps the developing story in circulation because public curiosity and his business both benefit. (Chapters 292–298)

Danger soon tests the limits of that opportunism. Unknown warriors break through his hired guards seeking the Dark Magus, and Rayna demands that he stop reporting, but Bubble explains that suppressing public information would not silence the many private groups already searching. He continues covering the Behemoth conflict and faction tournament, sometimes withholding destabilizing details such as the full Hybrid revelation. His reporting therefore shapes Raze's reputation while remaining selective, commercial, and constrained by what witnesses can plausibly support. (Chapters 419–420, 590–602, and 799–847)

From observer to wartime source

Bubble later meets Rayna and Dame in Flendon and trades what he knows about the Deleters for protection. He carefully labels much of the material as rumor, but his reports identify patterns around exploding heads, a helmeted woman using Noctis techniques, and a staff-bearing otherworlder. He also admits that Alter likely supplied his recording device in order to observe Pagna through him, explaining why he had reduced its use. The warning about inexplicably exploding heads helps Rayna recognize a Deleter attack during Han's funeral. (Chapters 1075–1078 and 1133)

During the coalition's later campaign, Bubble uses the floating devices to show battles across Pagna and personally warns Raze that distant allies are losing ground, influencing where the strongest fighter directs his attention. After victory, he excitedly records Raze's defeat of the enemy's key figures and announces that Pagna now regards him as its strongest warrior. Bubble is alive in his final direct scene, still pursuing the next political story; later narration confirms that his accounts continue circulating, but not what ultimately happens to him. Appearance and personality

Bubble is introduced as a man with long, silky white hair, dressed in bright gold silk and seated in a luxurious chair made from otherworldly material. His gold carriage and robes later preserve the same deliberately extravagant public image. His real name is not disclosed; “Bubble” is the memorable professional identity by which both the public and powerful faction figures know him. (Chapters 292 and 1075)

He is excitable, theatrical, commercially minded, and more perceptive than his exaggerated manner suggests. Bubble openly chases headlines and compensation, yet survives by distinguishing publishable rumor from secrets likely to get him killed. He can be frightened into caution, but he also calls back dangerous visitors, challenges Rayna's demand for silence, and runs toward a decisive story when the personal and public stakes are high. Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Bubble demonstrates no personal magic system or Pagna combat cultivation. His power is institutional: a network of reporters, printers, distributors, assistants, and contacts gathers stories across faction borders and releases them rapidly enough to shape continent-wide opinion. He also evaluates sources, recognizes patterns between separated incidents, and modulates reports when publishing everything could provoke panic or expose dangerous truths. Those judgments are fallible and sometimes explicitly inferential. (Chapters 292–298, 799, and 1075–1078)

His remote coverage depends on floating magical drone artifacts supplied through the Light Faction by Alter. The devices record scenes and display them elsewhere, allowing tournament coverage and later battlefield broadcasts; this is equipment-derived surveillance, not an innate ability. Bubble eventually suspects that the supplier can also watch through the same network and limits his use, although he deploys it again when broadcasting the war serves his agreement with Raze's coalition. Relationships

• Raze Cromwell: Bubble's stories build the public Dark Magus legend before he knows Raze's full identity. Later he broadcasts Raze's battles, warns him about allies in danger, and seeks advance knowledge of his plans.
• Rayna: Their relationship begins with Rayna trying to restrict his reporting. It develops into an exchange of Deleter intelligence for protection in Flendon.
• Dame Narfous: Dame joins Rayna's intelligence interview and helps test Bubble's rumors against the Deleters the coalition has already encountered.
• Han: Bubble does not prevent Han's death, but his earlier warning lets Han's siblings recognize the otherwise inexplicable attack as a Deleter's work.

Items

• Floating recording and display devices: Alter-supplied magical drones that capture images and transmit them to remote displays. Bubble uses them for mass broadcasting, later recognizes their surveillance risk, and still has access to them during the coalition campaign. No approved named item page exists for these devices.
