Jagon

Jagon is the Beast of Ravesta, leader of the Beastfolk mercenaries, and a vassal of the Demon King of Destruction. He kills his father, the Depraved Oberon, to seize leadership and later sells his overwhelming combat power to Count Karad for the invasion of Dragon Demon Castle. (Chapters 228 and 253–260)

Biography

Ruhr, Lehainjar, and the Dragon Conflict

Karad hires Jagon by promising a war against Raizakia, but Jagon values the war and its prey more than the contract's political reward. He forces the invasion to begin as an ambush, leaps from the ground to the flying castle, breaks its barrier with his fists, and devours residents while searching for a worthy opponent. Eugene Lionheart deliberately confronts him because Jagon's talent, appetite for battle, and ability to grow stronger through future conflicts make leaving him alive too dangerous. Jagon invokes Destruction's power, cannibalizes other demonfolk to sustain his body, and persists even after realizing the fight is one-sided. The Moonlight Sword overwhelms his dark power, pierces his heart, erases his body, and finally cuts his throat; his death also destroys Karad's campaign. (Chapters 253–268)

Appearance and personality

Jagon is even larger than the giant demon Karad, with a face blending human and bear features, black eyes, enormous hands, and thick gray-brown fur as hard and sharp as iron needles. When he fully draws on Destruction, his fur and face turn black and his eyes become dark crimson. He lives by predatory instinct, respects strength rather than kinship, and treats war, slaughter, and cannibalism as appetite. He is nevertheless capable of tactical choices and clear self-assessment; when overmatched, he uses subordinates as shields and ultimately accepts his death without denying the opponent's superiority. Abilities and powers

Jagon's beastfolk body supplies immense strength, speed, senses, durability, and regeneration. He can jump from the ground to Dragon Demon Castle without wings, crack the castle barrier with his fists, and detect an opponent through scent and hunting instinct even across rapid spatial movement. His iron-like fur redirects the Demon Spear's thorns, while lost limbs can regenerate within moments. That recovery consumes bodily resources and drives hunger, so he replenishes himself by devouring demonfolk; injuries inflicted by the Moonlight Sword and the accumulating strain of Destruction eventually outpace the process. (Chapters 260–266)

Through a contract made at Destruction's deserted temple, Jagon can surround himself with corrosive dark power. It forms a layer that annihilates attacks and matter on contact, protects him against the Moonlight Sword for a limited time, and can become tendrils or enormous mouths used to strike and consume targets. The power also destroys its wielder's body and mind, forcing Jagon to counter it continuously with regeneration and to withdraw it when the cost becomes unsustainable. The Moonlight Sword nullifies portions of the aura, and Eugene's repeated severing and bombardment exhaust both the power and Jagon's healing until he can no longer resist. (Chapters 264–266)

Relationships

• Count Karad: Karad pays Jagon and feeds him demonfolk in exchange for service, but cannot control him. Jagon forces an early assault and pursues his own hunt, leaving Karad's political ambitions dependent on a mercenary who cares nothing for them. (Chapters 253–268)
• Barang: Barang was once Jagon's sworn brother. Jagon later dismisses that bond because Barang never grew strong enough to retain his interest. (Chapter 263)
• Eugene Lionheart: Eugene regards Jagon as a rapidly growing future threat and chooses to kill him immediately. Jagon is pleased to learn he is facing Hamel, but Eugene dominates their fight and executes him before Dragon Demon Castle reaches the ground. (Chapters 263–268)
• Demon King of Destruction: Jagon kneels once to contract with Destruction and receives its dark power, but understands that the Demon King grants no affection or protection to its vassals. (Chapters 264 and 266)
