Iris

Iris is the first dark elf, the adopted daughter of the original Demon King of Fury, and the leader who preserves his faction for three centuries. After losing her domain in Helmuth, she unites the Southern Seas' pirates, inherits Fury's ancient legacy beneath the Solgalta Sea, and briefly ascends as the new Demon King of Fury before being killed by Eugene Lionheart's alliance. Biography

Shimuin and the Demon King of Fury

Three hundred years before the main story, Iris commands dark elves as one of Fury's adopted children and fights Hamel during the heroes' assault. When Vermouth kills Fury, the dying Demon King spends his remaining strength to let Iris and Oberon escape; Iris leaves cursing Hamel for blocking her path to her father. She subsequently claims Fury's inheritance without submitting to another ruler, rejects support from high-ranking demonfolk, and expands the dark elves by corrupting other elves. Her independence fails to win recognition in Helmuth, and after losing a territorial conflict to Noir Giabella, she is expelled from the empire. (Chapters 91–93, 340, and 393)

In Shimuin, Iris turns exile into maritime power. The Fury Pirates absorb hundreds of pirate bands and use the Solgalta Sea's dangerous currents as a defense, while Iris's Demoneye creates passages through darkness that let her fleet travel where ordinary navigation and magic fail. She raids commercial and royal shipping, kidnaps crews and dwarves, and makes laborers excavate beneath the seabed after dreams draw her toward a sealed ancient ruin. Her trusted circle remains the 103 dark elves of the Rebels of Fury; the thousands of human pirates are useful manpower, not family. The threat grows large enough that Shimuin mounts an expedition rather than continuing to tolerate the raids. (Chapters 338–356 and 366)

At the ruin, Iris receives the legacy arranged through an ancient promise between Fury and the Demon King of Incarceration. She abandons the impossible goal of resurrecting her father and instead takes his title, memories, and power into herself. The newborn Demon King converts the surrounding sea and sky into a Devildom, transforms pirates into malformed demonic troops, strengthens her dark elves, and tries to destroy the arriving expedition before fear of her name can spread further. She recognizes Eugene as Hamel during battle, and that realization turns her inherited fury into a personal frenzy. Eugene, Sienna Merdein, the Saints, and Shimuin's fighters exhaust her immortality; Eugene's final holy strike damages her existence beyond recovery, and Iris disintegrates while cursing her enemies rather than expressing regret. Appearance and personality

Iris is a dark elf whose most prominent physical feature is a pair of red Demoneyes with murky black pupils. After her ascension, those eyes can appear at enormous scale throughout the black fog of her domain, while her body is frequently obscured by darkness. She dresses without ceremony aboard her pirate vessel, lounging in her quarters or accepting a jacket from a subordinate before battle; the supplied chapters do not establish a consistent hair color or detailed everyday outfit. She is proud, vindictive, and fiercely committed to the identity Fury gave her. Iris refuses patronage that would subordinate her, interprets the dark elves who remain beside her as family, and gives them privileges she denies her human pirates. That loyalty is selective rather than compassionate: she corrupts vulnerable or kidnapped elves, destroys the minds and bodies of ordinary followers with reckless infusions of power, and treats enemy lives as celebratory sacrifices. Even while dying, she refuses to admit wrongdoing or expose fear before Eugene and Sienna. (Chapters 91–93, 338–356, 366, 368, and 376)

Abilities and powers

Before her ascension, Iris is already a high-ranking demonfolk who fought Hamel and survived the original Demon King war. Her signature authority is the Demoneye of Darkness, a gift personally granted by Fury, while her status as Fury's daughter lets her corrupt elves into dark elves. Becoming the new Demon King enormously expands both her dark power and the scale at which those inherited authorities operate. (Chapters 91–93, 338, and 362–370)

Demoneye of Darkness

The Demoneye opens passages between separate patches of darkness, enabling Iris and her fleet to bypass the Solgalta Sea's currents without relying on mana-based teleportation. It can manifest dark matter at a target without a visible projectile or warning, create barriers and abyssal openings, and extend Iris's sight across her Devildom through gigantic remote eyes. The power is still contestable: destructive moonlight erases its manifestations, sufficiently strong magic can impede it, and coordinated defenders prevent several surprise attacks from reaching their intended victims. Dark-elf corruption and command

Iris can transform elves into dark elves despite not originally being a Demon King. The process expands her people and creates an enforced loyalty to her, which complicates her claim that the Rebels are simply a freely chosen family. After ascending, she distributes greater dark power to the 103 dark elves and crudely remakes thousands of pirates into demonic beasts or misshapen humanoids whose dark power substitutes for life force. The pirates lose personality and human form because Iris values immediate military mass over their survival. (Chapters 92–93, 366, and 368)

Authority of the Demon King of Fury

As Fury, Iris turns sea and sky covered by her darkness into a Devildom whose environment obeys her will. She commands black water, darkness, storms of corrupting power, mental pressure that drives victims mad, and insect swarms inherited from the former Demon King's authority. Her physical body can be obliterated and regenerated as long as the greater existence sustained by dark power remains intact, and her developing Intuition reads threats and identities beyond ordinary perception. Fear and worship would continue increasing her strength, making time itself an advantage after ascension. (Chapters 362–370)

Her immortality is powerful rather than limitless. She has only just inherited the title when the expedition arrives, lacks the centuries of accumulated fear available to older Demon Kings, and expends dark power each time her body is destroyed or her domain is contested. Holy power attacks the core of her existence, while Eugene's destructive power erases dark power faster than ordinary physical attacks. Once the final holy slash severs that existence, regeneration stops even though her body shows no conventional wound. (Chapters 364 and 369–376)

• Eugene Lionheart: Iris's hatred begins with Hamel preventing her from reaching Fury during the ancient battle. She later encounters Eugene without recognizing him, then identifies his temperament through a Demon King's Intuition in their final fight. That recognition intensifies her power and rage, but Eugene ultimately inflicts the wound that prevents her resurrection. (Chapters 91, 340, and 368–376)
• Sienna Merdein: Sienna and Iris carry three centuries of mutual hostility rooted in the Fury campaign and the dark elves' atrocities against other elves. Sienna joins the Shimuin expedition specifically to prevent another escape, repeatedly destroys Iris's regenerated bodies, and confronts her at the moment of death without offering forgiveness. (Chapters 91, 340, and 363–376)
• Noir Giabella: Noir defeats Iris in a territorial war and drives her from Helmuth, indirectly pushing her toward piracy in Shimuin. Iris remains aware that even after becoming Fury she may still lose to Noir, while Noir regards the newborn Demon King as interesting but refuses to intervene directly in the subjugation. • Carmen Lionheart: Carmen helps foil Iris's earlier operation in Kiehl and later joins the Shimuin expedition. During the Demon King battle, she withstands the mental pressure of Fury's power, attacks at close range, and responds with particular fury after Iris's Demoneye nearly kills Ciel. • Ciel Lionheart: Iris first treats Ciel as a potential hostage in Kiehl. In the Solgalta battle, she targets Eugene with a surprise Demoneye strike, but Ciel intervenes and loses her left eye. The attack fails to kill either target and instead strengthens the alliance's resolve to end Iris's existence. (Chapters 255–259 and 373–376)
