Beirut is the ancient Godeater Rat who guards the Yulan Plane, manages the Necropolis of the Gods, and quietly shapes the paths of Bebe and Linley Baruch. Initially known as a mighty clan ancestor and Sovereign’s Emissary, he is eventually revealed as a Lesser Sovereign whose long preparations turn Linley’s growth into a challenge to the Chief Sovereign of Light (Chapters 221, 365, 765).

Biography

Guardian of Yulan and Bebe's Ancestor

Beirut first enters Linley’s understanding through Bebe’s earliest memory: a warm voice told the newborn magical beast that he belonged to the Beirut clan and should remain hidden in the Baruch manor’s back courtyard for safety. His sons later identify their father as the Forest of Darkness’s king, while Bebe greets Beirut as “Grandpa” when they meet outside the Necropolis. Beirut receives him affectionately, yet also demonstrates that his guardianship extends far beyond family sentiment: he manages the Necropolis, knows what happened within it, evaluates Linley and Olivier’s prospects, and urges disappointed Saints to recover the confidence needed for breakthroughs rather than depend entirely upon divine sparks (Chapters 221, 326, 365).

That protective authority becomes public when danger spreads through Yulan. After Linley, Desri, and Olivier damage the Great Botha Levee, Beirut freezes the escaping flood of prisoners with an enormous black palm and immediately recognizes the catastrophe they have caused. Later, his sons repel an attack on Dragonblood Castle and announce that the castle is under his protection, a warning that makes even Adkins hesitate. Beirut subsequently kills Adkins with ease, permits Leylin alone to seek the Necropolis’s greatest treasure, and uses Linley to inform the other Deities so that each can decide whether to remain in Yulan or leave for a Higher Plane. His guardianship thus develops from concealed intervention into deliberate management of the plane’s balance, with Bebe and Linley protected but still expected to choose and advance for themselves (Chapters 404, 426, 448–449).

Bloodridge Sovereign and the Sovereign Sparks

Even after Linley’s party leaves Yulan, Beirut’s earlier gifts continue to shape their survival. Bebe carries a black dagger from him, while the divine spark Beirut gave Delia was carefully reforged with precious materials that made elemental essences easier for her to sense; the chosen wind mystery also proves valuable in the Infernal Realm. He supplies Bebe with Highgod sparks that a Godeater Rat can consume and intervenes when the Vile King Odin threatens the Baruch Empire. These actions show a consistent method: Beirut gives his chosen people unusual opportunities and safeguards, but leaves them to fight, learn, and make consequential decisions with those advantages (Chapters 456, 624, 696).

Beirut finally explains that he witnessed Augusta kill the Four Divine Beasts and risked his life to drag their corpses into the Yulan Plane. He fused their wind Sovereign spark, defeated Augusta’s projection, used the remaining blood essence to create the first Four Supreme Warriors, and stationed his divine clone in Indigo Prefecture to protect their descendants while publicly posing as the Bloodridge Sovereign’s Emissary. Because his own sons could not qualify for the remaining earth, fire, and water sparks, he selected Bluefire and later Linley as candidates who had advanced independently. When Linley’s battle against Augusta and Orloff appears to end in disaster, Beirut blames himself, orders Bluefire to protect Linley’s arriving parents, and then shares in the joy when Linley transcends the Sovereign level. The hidden planner is ultimately revealed as a loyal ally whose ambitions expose him to guilt as well as triumph (Chapters 765, 805–806).

Appearance and personality

In human form, Beirut is a black-robed man with black hair and black whiskers. He can appear abruptly as a dark shadow, yet often adopts a relaxed posture in his metallic castle, reclining with tea while observing events across the plane. His original form is a Godeater Rat whose tail is fast and strong enough to reach into chaotic space and pull the vast corpses of four divine beasts into Yulan (Chapters 426, 448, 765).

Beirut combines warmth toward Bebe with an exacting, sometimes teasing manner toward younger experts. He hugs Bebe, laughs at his pride, and protects Dragonblood Castle, but he also lectures Saints on self-confidence and bluntly presses Linley to look beyond the comfort of one material plane. He is calculating enough to bait competitors with the Necropolis and hide his status for thousands of years, daring enough to steal Sovereign corpses from Augusta, and responsible enough to react to Linley’s apparent loss with guilt and immediate concern for Linley’s family (Chapters 365, 426, 449, 765, 805).

Abilities and cultivation

Beirut is a wind-element Lesser Sovereign and a divine Godeater Rat. Before becoming a Sovereign, his body had already been refined with divine-spark essence until it was comparable to a Sovereign artifact, and his godspark weapon was powerful enough to destroy Augusta’s planar projection. As a Sovereign, he can project his will through his divine clone, monitor distant events, send messages by divine sense, and wield force that overwhelms Highgods such as Adkins (Chapters 404, 448, 624, 765).

His Godeater Rat body supplies exceptional speed, durability, and physical reach. Beirut used its tail across the boundary of the material plane to seize all four Divine Beast corpses from chaotic space before Augusta could recover them. He is also an accomplished administrator and judge of cultivation: he controls access to the Necropolis of the Gods, understands the limitations of fused divine sparks, inspects souls and memories without detection, and accurately recognizes unusual talents such as Olivier’s fused light-and-darkness soul (Chapters 365, 448, 765).

Beirut’s greatest strength is strategic preparation. He creates the Four Supreme Warrior bloodlines from Divine Beast blood essence, protects their later clan in the Infernal Realm, and screens possible inheritors for the remaining Sovereign sparks. That plan has firm constraints—an inheritor must become a Deity independently in the matching element—but it allows Beirut to turn resources gained in one dangerous gamble into allies capable of opposing Augusta many millennia later (Chapter 765).

• Bebe: Beirut is Bebe’s clan ancestor and affectionate “Grandpa.” He guides Bebe from birth, protects the people important to him, supplies him with weapons and divine sparks, and criticizes him without diminishing their obvious familial bond (Chapters 221, 365, 426, 696).
• Linley Baruch: Beirut watches Linley’s progress, directs him toward the Infernal Realm, protects his family, and ultimately selects him as a potential Sovereign-spark inheritor. Linley’s apparent death makes Beirut openly blame himself for having drawn him into the conflict (Chapters 365, 449, 765, 805).
• Leylin: Bluefire is Beirut’s first successful choice for one of the remaining Sovereign sparks and becomes his trusted partner. Beirut relies on him to watch Linley’s final battle and to escort Linley’s parents to safety (Chapters 765, 805).
