Adkins

Adkins is an ancient Highgod released from Gebados who takes control of the O'Brien Empire and seeks the treasure on the Necropolis of the Gods' eighteenth floor. His ambition ultimately brings him into conflict with Beirut, who kills him. (Chapters 407–408, 445–448)

Biography

Yulan'S Reckoning And Mount Copper Gong

After emerging from Gebados, Adkins installs himself over the O'Brien Empire, humiliates the War God, and treats Yulan's resident Deities as inferiors. He sends subordinates against Dragonblood Castle while pursuing access to the Necropolis, but Beirut's warning limits his campaign. At Mount Copper Gong, Adkins is shaken into submission when Leylin reveals that he is Bluefire, the supreme figure Adkins once served beneath in Gebados. (Chapters 407–417, 424–427, 439–440)

Adkins nevertheless continues maneuvering for the Necropolis treasure. When the struggle reaches its conclusion, Beirut demonstrates an overwhelming disparity in strength and kills him; the fall of a Highgod who had seemed untouchable changes how the other newly arrived Deities judge both Beirut and their prospects in Yulan. Appearance and personality

Adkins is a handsome young-looking man with slender eyebrows and a knife-sharp gaze. He is proud, domineering, and accustomed to obedience, yet his confidence collapses before Bluefire's identity and Beirut's superior power. (Chapters 407–408, 439–440, 445–448)

Abilities and cultivation

As an ancient Highgod, Adkins stands above the ordinary Gods and Demigods released into Yulan and was formerly second only to Bluefire within Bluefire City. His power is still decisively below Beirut's. (Chapters 407–408, 439–440, 445–448)

Relationships

• Leylin: Adkins once lived under Bluefire's rule and immediately kneels when he recognizes Leylin as that legendary expert. (Chapters 439–440)
• Beirut: Beirut first restrains Adkins with a warning, then kills him when the contest over the Necropolis treasure comes to a head. (Chapters 416–417, 445–448)
