Beatrice

Beatrice is the Light Saintess of the Human World, an incarnation of Mother Earth, and one of Locke's two principal companions. Her recovery and large-scale divine magic sustain the human party in the north, and her cooperation with Dark Saintess Altesia becomes a major source of battlefield power against Shutenberg and the red dragon.

Biography

Saintess of the Human Coalition

Beatrice enters the Demon World with Locke and Mercenary King Carlov on a mission tied to Guardian Queian and the Knights of the Apocalypse. She helps the group pursue In-gong's fast-moving coalition, repeatedly restores Locke's power through prayer, and uses divine climate manipulation to stop the lethal blizzard around the frost-worm battlefield. Once the two parties meet, she remains cautious but calm before the demon royal family, notices the similarity between Locke and the Demon World's warriors, and grows friendly enough with Caitlin to exchange stories about the Human World. The meeting changes her group from parallel pursuers into active allies of the northern expedition. (Chapters 173, 198, and 203–210)

Against Arch Lich Shutenberg, Beatrice and Altesia complete simultaneous miracles that erase nearly two hundred thousand undead, allowing the allied armies to unite, but the expenditure leaves both saintesses collapsed and later exhausted on Quanta. Beatrice nevertheless remains with the Demon World coalition as it confronts the red dragon. She prays during the first engagement, combines light and darkness with Altesia to crush a breath pillar, and later creates a gigantic sword of light for Altesia's dark incarnation to wield, forcing the dragon to divert an attack. Her last direct appearance is in that final battle; the corpus does not narrate her return to the Human World or otherwise state her later whereabouts. (Chapters 212–213, 220, and 225–227)

Appearance and personality

Beatrice is introduced in person as a beautiful young girl traveling with Locke and Carlov. No hair color, eye color, clothing details, or precise age is supplied in the local corpus, so those features remain unknown. Her expressions openly show fatigue, relief, fear, and curiosity when the party first enters the Demon World. (Chapter 173)

She is observant, dutiful, and initially cautious around the demon royal children. Beatrice notices logistical details Carlov overlooks, reminds Locke when he neglects introductions, and describes their dangerous journey as a mission entrusted to her. Her reserve eases when she sees the princesses' ordinary affection: she laughs with them, responds warmly to Caitlin, and becomes someone the princess asks for stories about the Human World. Divine recovery and support

Beatrice receives divine power through prayer to Mother Earth and uses it to restore Locke, functioning as the party's principal source of recovery during sustained travel. The narrative also associates her with purifying corrupted magic cores, but that property is presented through In-gong's prior knowledge rather than demonstrated directly in the current timeline. The corpus does not quantify how much power she restores, yet repeated use has a clear cost: excessive divine expenditure leaves her sweating, unable to stand without support, and in need of further rest. Climate manipulation and miracles

Her divine magic can suppress a blizzard across a battlefield-sized area, leaving clear sky inside a sharp boundary while the storm continues outside. This stabilization also calms local magic flow enough for allied earth spirits to work. In mass combat she can invoke a light miracle that annihilates undead, combine it with Altesia's darkness, form a giant sword of light, and crush or redirect red-dragon breath attacks. These feats require prayer and often cooperation; the Shutenberg miracle exhausts both saintesses, and the corpus does not name the prayers or explain their duration and full range. Relationships

• Locke: Beatrice is one of Locke's most powerful companions and supplies the recovery and divine support that sustain his mission. She follows him into the Demon World, corrects his social oversights, and expects to return to the Human World with him after their work ends. (Chapters 173, 198, 203, and 208–209)
• Carlov: Carlov is Beatrice's fellow companion and physical protector. He catches her when a major miracle makes her collapse and later supports her while she is still recovering. (Chapters 173, 198, 213, and 222)
• Altesia: The Light and Dark Saintesses draw power from different gods but become highly effective partners. Their simultaneous miracles clear Shutenberg's undead army, and their combined incarnation later challenges the red dragon. (Chapters 213, 220, and 225–227)
• Caitlin: Caitlin quickly befriends Beatrice, calls her an older sister, and asks her about the Human World. Beatrice responds warmly despite the initial caution between the human and demon parties. (Chapters 209–210)
