Qing Qiu

Qing Qiu is a survivor of the scavenger basecamp who becomes a holy daughter of the Church of Departure and a swordsage of Sea-Sealing County. The scar-removing crystal she keeps on a necklace proves that she is the girl Xu Qing once saved. She is not “Ghost Hand”: that was her hostile nickname for Xu Qing, while Senior Ghost Hand is a separate Corrections Division jailer. (Chapters 6–7, 29, 338, 401, 443)

Biography

Survival in the ruins and scavenger camp

Qing Qiu arrives at the scavenger basecamp as a young girl with a large facial scar, little protection, and the same wary posture as other recent survivors. During the beast trial she draws the giant horned anaconda and walks toward the arena despite knowing what the result is likely to be. Xu Qing exchanges lots with her and kills the serpent himself, giving her the chance to survive and enter the camp. (Chapters 6–7)

She does more than receive help. Qing Qiu finds work in the general store, selects better-quality white boluses for Xu Qing, warns him that human predators may be responsible for disappearances near the forbidden region, and gives him her last piece of candy when she notices his grief. When her older brother arrives, she invites “Big Bro Kid” to leave with them and promises to return; Xu Qing instead gives her a seven-colored crystal that can remove scars. (Chapters 19, 26, 29)

The girl departs under Church of Departure protection, but she keeps the crystal and later wears it as a necklace. Years of use wear the stone down, making its continuing custody material evidence of her identity when Xu Qing encounters the adult Qing Qiu. Her childhood optimism does not survive unchanged, yet the promise to find the boy who saved her remains important enough that she eventually returns to the basecamp looking for him. Church holy daughter and swordsage calling

As the Church of Departure’s holy daughter, Qing Qiu first clashes with Xu Qing and Chen Erniu during the Nethersprite affair. She and the Evil Ghost Scythe Spirit remember them by the insulting nicknames “Ghost Hand” and “Mad Dog,” not realizing who Xu Qing is. Her fierce competitiveness carries into the Supreme Beginning Netherflight Pillar trial, where she pushes to 8,790 meters but stops rather than destabilize her cultivation foundation. Qing Qiu earns a 3,300-meter response in the Swordsage heart assessment, drawing praise from the court elders and confirming that her convictions are not merely an extension of the Church. As a new swordsage she attends the same county-capital training as Xu Qing and instinctively looks toward him during Senior Ghost Hand’s lecture. That scene keeps all three identities separate: Qing Qiu is herself, Xu Qing is the rival she calls “Ghost Hand,” and the lecturer is the actual senior jailer named Ghost Hand. Her hostility toward Xu Qing coexists with an involuntary sense of familiarity. Seeing him purchase medicine reminds her of the dirty boy at the general store, but she considers the association an insult to her cherished “Big Bro Kid.” This mistaken division between beloved childhood memory and present rival explains her contradictory reactions without turning her into Xu Qing’s disguise or conflating her with the senior jailer. Woe-Immortal expedition and Sea-Sealing war

Disguised as Nightshades, Xu Qing and the Captain capture Qing Qiu during the expedition into Ten Entrails of the True Immortal. When her mask breaks, Xu Qing finds the worn crystal necklace and recognizes the scavenger girl, but he keeps his identity secret and restores the crystal to her. Qing Qiu remains guarded, tests her circumstances, and initially interprets his restraint as a hidden Nightshade agenda rather than trust. (Chapters 443, 452–453)

Once the group reaches the Ten Entrails Tree, Qing Qiu chooses to participate in the danger rather than remain a passive captive. She eats a leaf, reclaims her scythe and bag, follows the others upward, and benefits when the tree’s personality souls feed her Blood Will Domain. She refuses to copy Xu Qing’s self-mutilating offering, but later uses Ning Yan’s vines to cross the attacking sprouts, showing that cooperation never erases her independent judgment. After returning during the Sea-Sealing crisis, Qing Qiu accepts work in Xu Qing’s Secretariat Division. She compiles intelligence about tens of thousands of nonhuman species, verifies reports through other swordsages and their sealing marks, manages negotiations and supply records, and is left in charge when Xu Qing departs. Her work helps direct wartime resources to the front, while her warning about political accusations against Xu Qing shows that she also watches dangers around her commander. (Chapters 476, 496, 499–500, 509)

Qing Qiu later enters Forbidden by the Immortal with the county forces and withdraws on time after Xu Qing’s warning. At the governor ceremony she grips her scythe when Xu Qing challenges the lieutenant governor, ready with the same comrades who would protect him. His revealed childhood nascent soul finally lets her recognize “Big Bro Kid,” and their later meeting at the old general store turns years of searching into a quiet reunion rather than a dramatic declaration. Separation, Spiritsound captivity, and rescue

Qing Qiu remains in Emperor-Receiving Prefecture while Xu Qing’s path carries him through Moonrite and the imperial capital. He remembers her Blood Will Domain when studying will-domain authority and later recalls her among his old friends. These are not scenes of her participating in those distant campaigns; they establish that the comradeship formed in Sea-Sealing endures while her own swordsage duties continue elsewhere. (Chapters 660, 726)

During a swordsage mission, Qing Qiu encounters the fugitive Li Zimei. Their conflict leads both women into the Spiritsound forbidden ground, where Lord Spiritsound traps them in a giant tree and drains their blood-red light as nourishment. When controlled into attacking Xu Qing, Qing Qiu produces the Supreme Arbiter Blood Will Domain, but her blank eyes and the invisible strings reveal captivity rather than voluntary allegiance. Xu Qing severs the controlling threads and recovers Qing Qiu before her foundation collapses. She has lost life force but can be saved, unlike Li Zimei’s more advanced possession. The Church of Departure takes custody of Qing Qiu for recovery and announces that she will inherit its Arbiter of Destiny legacy as an eastern holy daughter, leaving her alive with a new institutional path after the Spiritsound crisis. Appearance and personality

As a child, Qing Qiu is small, scarred, poorly dressed, and vigilant, yet she repeatedly smiles and remains considerate toward Xu Qing. As an adult she is a fair-skinned young woman with delicate features normally hidden beneath a mask and black or red clothing. The evil ghost scythe and the mask project ferocity; when the mask breaks, her unguarded appearance is notably different from that threatening public image. (Chapters 6, 19, 338, 443, 543)

Qing Qiu is proud, combative, suspicious, and intensely resistant to humiliation. She competes even when the odds are poor, insults rivals rather than flatter them, and hates acknowledging admiration. The same pride is bounded by discipline: she stops climbing before ruining her foundation, verifies wartime intelligence carefully, follows a sound withdrawal warning, and protects comrades when a political confrontation turns lethal. (Chapters 362, 499–500, 527, 531)

Her childhood kindness is not erased by adult severity. She gives away her last candy, holds onto Xu Qing’s crystal for years, and struggles to reconcile the gentle memory of “Big Bro Kid” with the rival in front of her. The reunion at the general store exposes both sides at once: she fumes at obeying him automatically, then handles his replacement candy as a treasure and smiles beneath her mask. Abilities and cultivation

Supreme Arbiter Blood Will Domain

Qing Qiu’s signature trump card is a will domain inherited from the Supreme Arbiter tradition. It manifests as blood-colored light, horrifying laughter, and multiple personalities whose growth strips ordinary color from perception until only blood remains. Personality souls from the Ten Entrails Tree strengthen this path, but its history is lethal: practitioners before her died before reaching the alleged ten-personality completion state. Scythe combat and battle souls

She fights with an evil ghost scythe whose spirit communicates independently with her. Qing Qiu can throw the scythe with cutting force, summon a battle soul, and coordinate both attacks while under pressure. The weapon can be taken or sealed, as happens during her Nightshade captivity, so it is an important partner and armament rather than proof that her cultivation is invulnerable. (Chapters 359, 443, 453)

Endurance and swordsage discipline

Qing Qiu can resist the rancorous pressure of the Supreme Beginning Netherflight Pillar to 8,790 meters, but the trial establishes a clear limit: pushing farther risks destabilizing her foundation. Her heart assessment, subsequent training, and service in Forbidden by the Immortal demonstrate that her strength includes judgment, intelligence work, and coordinated operations rather than only direct violence. • Xu Qing: He saves her in the beast trial and gives her the scar-removing crystal. She later treats him as a hated rival without recognizing him, then becomes his swordsage comrade and wartime subordinate.
